Which: Open Log
Where: Various locations depending on prompt.
What: Stolas is going to be venturing around town. A general October catch-all for Daddy Hoothoot.
Warnings: Nothing really to put here. Other than Stolas is a demon from Hell, but only warning is possible sea of Dad Jokes.
1-A ☆ Bookworm
It was a perfect crisp autumn afternoon and the vibrant colors of the changing leaves was a pleasant sight from within the small walls of the greenhouse. Those passing by The Archives on their way to do their daily tasks could see that there was a new face that graced the library. A rather large owl-like Goetic Demon was hard to miss. Sitting at one of the "medium" sized tables, it still looked like a child's desk in comparison to his tall and slender stature. As usual, the prince looked unbothered by how much of the world around him didn't conform to his body proportions. He was engrossed with the stack of books that were neatly placed around him as he scribbled into a blank leather bound tome of his own.
One by one, with a flick of his talons bluish purple magic entwined between his claws as a similar aura would surround the next book in the stack, levitating it to a cleared spot on the desk beside him. With a casual flick of his finger, the pages turned on their own accord until something caught the demon's eye and the flutter of pages would pause long enough for the owl the scrawl in his journal. Once the books provided no more useful information, Stolas would simply wave with a glow of his hand to send the book floating carefully back to its home on the shelves. On and on this process would repeat, with the graceful dance of drifting books and the glimmer of magic.
1-B ☆ Map the Stars
The night was still with the pleasant hum of Reverein's nocturnal wildlife in the air. Under the boughs of one of the elegant trees that lined the silent banks of the large lake deep within the forest sat Stolas. Knees buckled into his chest to prop a journal in his lap, his red eyes turned skyward. There wasn't an air of concern about what local fauna could be lurking in the dark. The Goetia was enjoying the peaceful scenery as moonlight glittered in the ripples. A part of him couldn't help but wish his daughter could see this. That he could share it with... Never mind. He pushed that thought away.
Bathed in the glow of the two moons, it was bright enough to illuminate the page before him. To those with a keen eye could see the contents of his notebook. It appeared to be a circular grid in which he was studiously drawing on. A map of some kind?
2-A ☆ Cursed Candies
The Goetic Prince sure did love his fair share of festivities~ Ones that weren't made at his dispense, that is. The locals around Reverein were getting the owl into the holiday spirit with all their little parties that seem to be sprouting all over. And besides, who doesn't love a costume change or two? Certainly this daddy diva did~ Dressed like a swash-buckling pirate complete with two eyepatches to cover his secondary eye over his forehead was Stolas, enter mingling with the small cluster of fae that flooded the street. Towering over the flock of colorfully dressed fae was probably a sight to see. But Stolas appeared to be enjoying himself regardless. Who wouldn't be with the gifts of free candy? Pocketing the sweets into a draw-string bag that one of the locals graciously provided, he occasionally would pop one into his mouth in between idle chit-chat.
Some had an... interesting after taste that left his tongue tingling. And the lingering urge to plunder some booty.
2-B ☆ Birds of a Feather
The sun was high and the corvids were cawing~ Seriously.. as of late, the number of crows the Goetic Prince had counted had nearly doubled over the past few days. Not that he minded this feathery invasion. Just... a curious observation. The demon chalked it up to being apart of the Halloween spirit. Only being here for a month, he had already grown used to its oddities.
Walking down one of the forested paths, Stolas carried a small basket filled with quills and parchment as he heads back towards the library again. However, along the way he stumbled upon a murder of crows. Normally he wouldn't spare a second glance but something caught his keen eyes. A glimmer. Clutched in the bill of the shale black bird was a marble? No. It was one of those strange baubles that appeared by his bedside. Why in Hell would it have one of those? A kind deliverer? Or a thief? Looking at the rest of the flock he realized they all had something glittering in their beaks. But before he could take a closer look, the biggest of the group gave Stolas a throaty kraa singling the clan to take to the sky. Curious, the owl followed.
The air around him cooled as he could hear the whisper of water over rocks. He could tell the river was close as the birds descended back into the trees. Was their nest nearby?

Instead, she focused on the odd lighting and the odd figure - finally! Someone who looked "normal"! - and smiled. He seemed deeply focused on something, and she was a bit of a prankster. What better way to make a new friend than by scaring the bajeebus out of them?
Suppressing a giggle, Della went into stealth mode, trying to sneak upon the unsuspecting prince. If all went well, she'd try to flick the back of his neck and add in a little "BOO!"
Della.... no.
That said, he was wholly unprepared for a lucky duck to get the better of him. Completely distracted by his work, it was easy for Della to creep up behind the owl. The flick on the neck and the sudden loud noise cause the Goetic Demon to let out a startled screeching hoot as he flinched something violently. His journal was cast to the sandy bank and he bolted up right, to face what spooked him, all of his four red eyes glowing brightly.
A... duck?
Seeing the little white water fowl, his eyes dimmed slightly and he flattened out his ruffled feathers on the back of his neck.
"Don't you know its bad manners to sneak up on people in the middle of the night?" Damn, she didn't know how lucky she got... if he had his full powers, she could have been turned to stone.
no is practically her middle name
After letting out a few more gaggles of giggles, Della tried to calm down, patting her chest. "Oh, lighten up, it was just a harmless prank! You should see the stuff I do on Halloween - compared to that, you got off easy!"
no subject
"It should be you who should be thankful. You got it off easy." Stolas huffs as he sat back down on the bank. "Not everyday you get the better of a Goetia and live the tell the tale."
no subject
"What's a Goetia?" She casually walked right alongside him now, as if they were the best of friends. "Type of monster? Type of magic? Give me all the deets! Kinda thought you were one of my folks, but last I checked, none of mine had 20/20/20 vision." She nudged him with her elbow, thinking her vision joke especially clever.
no subject
"I am a Goetic Demon. A prince of Hell from the House ars Goetia. You may call me Stolas." He paused to draw in his chart before continuing. "Magic runs deep in my family and in kind, to me. Many hellborn would think twice before doing what you did. I could have turned you into stone with a glance."
If he had his full powers...
no subject
"Haha, neat!" Not said in any mockery or disbelief - just that he had shared some neat information about himself! "So would that have been Medusa-style, just freeze-frame, or transmogrifying me into a solid piece of rock?" She plopped right next to him, clearly not intending to leave his side anytime soon. "I'll admit, magic's one of the few things I'm not totally an expert on. My uncle's not a huge fan of magic, thinks most of it's a dangerous cheat." Half-shrug.
no subject
For the time being, Stolas lowered his legs to sit up straight, talons folded in his lap. "My sight is the transmogrifying type, for you would have been transformed into a very silent lawn ornament." The owl chuckled to himself, turning his head just a bit to look at her. "Fortunately for you, I am somewhat of a magic expert. Spent many years studying it to fulfill my duty. Magic can be dangerous for those who don't know how to wield it."
no subject
"I'm still trying to get a hold of this dreamotion stuff myself. So far I've used it to make a few fireworks." Half-shrug. Not a bad use of her powers, but also not very practical in the long run. "Doesn't bother me too much. Always been a more of 'let my fists and feet do the talking' kind of gal."
no subject
"I know someone who is like that. Though... he prefers gun play and knifes to fists." A brief moment of silence paused before his eyes blinked away what ever spell he was under. "I suppose with my own magic being so similar to how these dreamotions work, I have had an easier time learning to adjust. Though the transition hasn't been entirely seamless. Its a bit more... moody."
Stolas cracked a smirk at his little quip as he raised his hand to cup them together. Inside his palms, a flame of blue magic flickered. Its shape pulsed like molten glass as it eventually took form as a tiny star. For a moment it hovered there peacefully twinkling before it shot up to the sky exploding in a shower of sparks that shimmered gracefully back down in graceful arcs.
no subject
"Lucky you! Looks like I know who to call if I need help with this stuff." Because now they were friends and she could call on him for anything! Yep yep!
"But I'm sure I'll get the hang of this eventually. Giving up's not in my vocabulary. And when I do, you better watch out." She playfully nudged Stolas with her elbow, still not afraid to touch him willy-nilly. She was a physically affectionate person, after all. "If there's one thing my family's famous for - besides being awesome adventurers and explorers - it's our temper. I bet once I master this stuff and get angry, this place is gunna be full of active volcanos!" The mental image made her laugh out loud.
no subject
"R-right... My only request is please careful not to set the forest on fire. I rather like my little treehouse setup I have going on." But something she said caught his attention and his head cocked, curious. "You're an explorer? That certainly explains a thing or two."
no subject
"Oh, my entire bloodline is full of explorers! From my ancestors up in Scotland all the way to my own little boys!" She proudly thumped a fist to her chest. "I've been going all over the world, finding lost treasures and rediscovering ancient cities since I was a duckling!" If her ego could get any bigger, they'd both suffocate.
"That's why I love this place - it's full of totally new stuff to explore!"
no subject
"My, that does sound exciting. How I envy your freedom." Stolas gave her a soft smile before lifting his head to stare at the stars. "That is one thing I can say about being trapped here. Keeps me busy from thinking about home. I'm sure you can relate to that."
no subject
"Well... yeah. I mean, the best part ABOUT adventuring and exploring is doing it with my family. Normally I'd be all over this place with my uncle, my brother, my boys... so, uh... this place is nice, but not as nice as it could be."
Way to be a Debbie Downer, Stolas.

creepymouth. His intent was to share in their woes of missing their children. Parent to parent support? Awkwardly Stolas made an attempt to salvage the mood, raising his hands to wave them."Oh- I didn't mean- You see-" The owl tripped over his words as he searched for the right thing to say. "Sorry, I guess I am a little out of practice socializing with others outside of my social circles. I thought as a parent you could relate to my situation. I didn't mean to cause you distress."
no subject
"Ease up there, big guy. I know you didn't mean any harm. Being sad's just a part of life, and it comes and goes. Yeah, I'm bummed now, and I'll be bummed again. But it's not something you have to apologize over." An off-hand shrug.
"I'll make a long story short... I was away from my kids for about ten years. And I'm not gunna win any Mother Of The Century awards. So when I say I'm gunna be a sad duck again, that's a promise. But I don't think that's something to be ashamed of. We're allowed to be sad. We should be sad. It just means... that's how deeply we care about families. If we weren't sad about being away from them, we'd be kinda evil, huh?"
