[CLOSED]
Who: Marui and Leia
Which: Closed log
What: Dreamotion ability training followed by comfort and cuteness.
When: Afternoon and evening of Nov. 2nd
Where: Marui's treehouse
Warnings: None expected, will edit if needed
[ Marui's dreamotion abilities are not progressing well.
He isn't used to struggling with a new skill. He picks up on most things rather quickly. This, however, is quite simply a mystery. Maybe because it's so abstract? He's been able to do tennis and cakes with it like a true genius, but everything else has been a flop. The hot spring pool he made near his treehouse for bathing is uncomfortably small and shallow, and it occasionally mistakes itself for a geyser. His attempt to kill one of those giant termites with a bolt of lightning instead turned it into a particularly luminescent firefly. (On the upside, it's decided it lives with him and provides after-hours lighting around his house.) Bubble gum he'd thought for sure he could replicate as his supply dwindled to dangerously low levels, but the end result was too sticky to chew and popped while still in his mouth and that was great and interesting, perfect prank material, but not what he needed for everyday use.
He refuses to give up, though, especially in the aftermath of all that happened at that graveyard. He's determined to at least learn how to use it to protect himself and the people he cares for. And so now that he's given himself a one-day break to recover both physically and mentally from that ordeal, he's getting to work on that. Starting in the late morning outside his treehouse, he performs some warm-up stretches, rolls up his sleeves, and then... Well. This is about the part where he usually gets stuck. What should he try to do? In the end, what he most knows how to attack and defend with is still a tennis racket.
Well, no sense fixing what isn't broken. Time to invent some moves.
By the time lunch rolls around, Marui has worked up a decent appetite, and there is one thing and one thing alone that can satisfy him: cake. (Actually, some company would be nice too after spending all morning by himself, but hunger first.) Happily, cake conjuring is a dreamotion ability he's got down pat! He's even figured out how to conjure a platter for it to sit on now instead of the unfortunate (but admittedly hilarious) result of it splatting to the ground.
He takes a minute to imagine its shape, size, flavor, decorations, colors. It's easy with cake because he's seen, tasted, and baked so many. What would be really great right now is... yes. Perfect!
It's so real to him already-- the apple slices decorating the top; the warm and nutty aromas of maple, cinnamon, and pecan; how light and juicy it is inside with steaming apple pie filling between fluffy layers of spice cake! He's excited just thinking about it!
It feels like warm tingling at his fingertips. The cake realizes itself layer by layer, stacking higher and higher before disappearing inside a warm off-white encasement of frosting. Red-skinned apple slices radiate from the center on top in symmetry. Candied pecans line the base and accent the apple slices on top. An orange maple leaf pattern wraps around the side. ]
Yahoi! [ He cheers when it's done, and eagerly carves out a slice. ]

Although, her mind wandering as she cleans herself off, she recalls the way he looked at her this morning while fixing her hair. It was the first time she's ever seen him look so... different. He always seems so frustratingly calm and collected, but right then that composure slipped entirely.
It had to be their closeness and the act itself, nothing more. Besides, there's the whole flower thing...
Still, she can't stop thinking about him. And she hates it, and hates herself a little.
Once she's finished washing herself, she looks around before carefully stepping out of the bath, hurriedly toweling off, and slips on the clothes he lent her. They're big, he's small, but she's much smaller. Even worse is that the cold stings her freshly washed skin and she gathers up her clothes and the towel and quickly makes her way to Marui, already shivering.]
I-It s...sure is c-cold! I d-don't know how y-you do it.
no subject
Marui has not forgotten how cold it was a short while ago just going outside to pee, either, and he was dry for that. It's concerning to hear her struggling to even speak clearly. ]
It ain't fun. [ He grants her. ] C'mon, let's get back inside.
no subject
Thankfully, it's not a far walk to the house, and she quickly scurries inside, turning to face him.]
Th-Thanks... A-And for guarding too.
[That's the chill still clinging to her body, and she rubs her arms, hoping the friction will warm her up faster.]
no subject
Don't mention it.
[ He sweeps the blanket up off the floor and throws it around her shoulders, then guides her back to their spot of floor and joins her under it. Resisting a blush and fighting a flutter in his stomach as well as he can, he wraps his arms around her and pulls her in close to him. ]
Here... I'm plenty warm. Try and have some of mine.
no subject
Just.
All happens... so fast. Too fast for her to protest. She didn't think she had been that cold, or maybe it's because she's now suddenly warming up that she forgets how cold she had been? Her thoughts are frayed at the moment. By time he pulls her to his chest, she stiffens, before slowly melting into his half embrace. But she's no less embarrassed by it, and she blushes, yet again. She's lost count of how many times by now, but it's a little frustrating.
Still. Frustration or not, she remains unmoving against him, as if still unable to comprehend her current predicament. She's cold, yes. So she takes in his abundant warmth. And she'd be lying if she said she didn't enjoy this just a little. How firm his chest is, the heat radiating from him, his strong arms enveloping her. It leaves her a little light-headed and at a total loss for words.]
You... you don't have to. But, um. Thank you, a-again.
[Funny how she came here to escape feeling lonely, and now she's suddenly overwhelmed by his mere presence.]
no subject
It's fine. I don't mind. [ Quite the opposite-- he should probably feel guilty for enjoying it. She doesn't know. But she does need to warm up quickly, and this is an effective, practical solution.
He notices, though, the way that she relaxes against him. That she's as comfortable being held as he is holding her. And the blush to match his own. He really does wonder. ]
You know, I'd love an indoor bathroom, with winter coming. Do they really exist here? I didn't think anyone had plumbing.
no subject
And yet... being held by Marui, she can't help but feel this is something she's always wanted to experience from the object of her affection. To be held like this from someone so clearly concerned about her well-being. It's not that Jude doesn't take care of her in his own way, but it's never felt like this. And probably... could never feel like this.
But enjoying this even a little makes her feel guilty. So she's at least thankful when he asks her something completely unrelated. Even if it takes her a moment to gather her thoughts and shift to a less troubling topic.]
Actually, I thought that was the only option. I don't know much about Japan or what its technology is like, but it sounds similar to Elympios, so what is available here is still kinda a downgrade- like you have to fill a bathtub with water using buckets. Although now I hear there are crystals that act as electricity? [it's fairly new, so she doesn't know much other than that.] When I move, I'm gonna look for something like that. Why? Thinking about upgrading?
no subject
Well, the spring is gonna be a problem over the winter, isn't it? I can't keep what I have.
no subject
[Those words sure did just... leave her mouth. Without a second thought. Nevermind how she feels about Marui, or Jude, or anyone- he's helped her out, and she'd do the same regardless of the situation. It's just how she is.
Granted, she has to find her place first. But she'll be starting on that today once they've had breakfast, and she heads home. Milla might still be here, somewhere, but it's better for her to move out on her own, and get space for two instead of waiting around in a big, empty house, in that case. That way, if Milla disappears, at least she's somewhere fresh.]

[ It would definitely help him out, assuming she found a new place before he did. How strange, that they should both be in the market for one at the same time. ]
I mean... That'd help a lot... Thanks. [ He smiles with genuine gratitude. ] I'll start looking too, today. And likewise, if I find someplace first.

[Is it weird to invite your recent crush to temporarily stay with you, despite the inner conflict they are causing you? Maybe. But Leia is all about acting before thinking.
Gently, though, she is going to sit up.]
Anyhow, I think I'm warm enough, and really hungry. How about we head out shopping?
no subject
He retracts his arms as she shifts to sit up. Likewise, in a person more prone to overthinking, Leia's offer might generate greater pause. It's not smart to say the least of it. But it's an offer from a friend for help, just like what he's extended to her so many times. Her reciprocity is important for both of them. Marui intuitively understands this-- and reacts accordingly. ]
Yeah, let's go!
~timeskip~
Reluctantly, though, it's time for her to head home. As much as she doesn't want to return to an empty house, and despite having fun here, she needs to get things taken care of- both for herself, and a new house. After changing back into her own clothing, she comes to say goodbye.]
All right. I should get going, since I have a lot to get done today. I know you're probably tired of hearing me say it, but thanks for letting me crash here last night. I'm feeling a lot better.
no subject
He'd love if she could stay, but she's right there's a lot for her to do. Him, too, if he's honest. He's got some house-hunting of his own to take care of-- it's a race, after all. He smiles. ]
Yeah... me too. It's too quiet and boring when you're not around. Well, have fun. And don't forget this--
[ He picks up the rose from the table and holds it out in offering. ]
Consider it an early housewarming present. For your new beginning.
no subject
H-Huh? But, I thought... [does it matter what she thought? he's giving it to her, and she tentatively reaches for it, taking it from him.] Um, thank you. I'll take good care of it.
[That's the response she settles on as they move towards the door. It's a housewarming gift. That's all. And she's perfectly okay with that. She smiles at him, warmly, bringing the bloom to her face to briefly inhale the fragrant scent.]
I'll see ya later. Good luck with your search for indoor plumbing!
[Regardless of how she feels, of all the conflicting emotions swelling within her, it's fun being with him. And it's going to be far too quiet without him.
She waves goodbye, before stepping outside and heading down the steps.]
