closed 🌠 tifa's slumber party

Who: Tifa, Ori, Beatrix, Susato, and KainƩ
Which: Closed log
Where: Ori's house
What: Tifa's bachelorette slumber party! it's gonna be way cuter than eustace's stupid party boys are stinky xo
Warnings: Alcohol consumption, hot goss

On the very same evening that Eustace and… quite a group of men have departed on a camping trip, Oriphi has invited Tifa, Beatrix, Susato, and KainĆ© to her home for Tifa’s respective ā€œbachelorette party.ā€ It has taken quite a bit of research and discussion between Trahearne and Ori as to how exactly these things go; while Trahearne isn’t familiar with these sorts of customs, on Ori’s part it’s more of a lack of exposure to them. She’s only ever been part of one wedding her entire life, and it wasn’t quite like this. There were two bachelors, for one…

In any case, Ori and Diluc’s home is, predictably, very cozy and full of plants. There are various balloons and other such party decorations peppered throughout the house, but most of the activity will be taking place in the large common area. Once everyone has arrived, they begin the festivities with a nice, warm dinner and wine before they get around to the rest of their night!

On the dining table, Ori has set up a floral arrangement station on the large dining table for them to put together both their and Tifa’s bouquets and the other floral decorations needed for the wedding (to be kept fresh with the help of dreamotion) and various crafting supplies for any other little touches and decorations they might want to make for the ceremony or reception.

The coffee table in front of their couch, meanwhile, boasts a wide spread of desserts and cocktails, including macarons and banana boats. Their drinks for the evening are a specialty starry night cocktail which Diluc helped her create; and if they look closely, they would see little dreamotion stars twinkling in the liquid.

There are also created homemade spa treatments like face masks, lotions, and the like should any of them feel like some well-deserved self-care. Their light blue bridesmaid dresses hang nearby, ready for them to try on and have fun with before they’re properly worn for the ceremony, along with Tifa’s wedding dress! And finally, there are lots of pillows and cushions and blankets and bedrolls for each of them for when it's time to fall asleep, and the fireplace is going with a nice, cozy fire.

The evening is, for the most part, loose and entirely up to them, but what matters most is celebrating Tifa and her upcoming nuptials by having quality girl time!

Is a cider so strong, do you think?

[Beatrix looks thoughtful. It’s evident that she’s never had one, though she seems familiar enough with the word.]

It may be fitting, however. Perhaps a cider with some cinnamon in it. Warm, welcoming, intense in all of right ways without being overbearing. Something that lingers.

[Unforgettable is what she means, but doesn’t say.]

[Well, that's certainly one way to compliment someone, and Tifa hides the spread of her smile in her glass as she takes a small but lingering sip as her eyes close, lost in thought.]

Hm. Like a good apple cider when the weather gets cold. With cinnamon. They can be strong sometimes, when you want them to be. But they're pretty subtle for the most part.

[Maybe she'll make one for Beatrix sometime. Or maybe she'll have the chance to try one at the wedding.

Tifa finally blinks her eyes open and glances around the room. First, to Beatrix, where her gaze pauses, but then to Susato.]

What about Susato, then? I'm thinking... maybe a white wine sangria...

I think subtle, with a hint of strength is perfect.

[Although the conversation turns to Susato and Beatrix’s attention moves onto the direction she last saw her. What does she really know about the girl? She’s kind. Helpful. Demure. A bit fragile. But she also has the Susato take-down, so she is easy to underestimate. Enigmatic. She wants to protect others.]

Hm… Susato…

[And she’s Yujin’s daughter. Beatrix respected her father a great deal and without a doubt, she respects Susato just as much. The feelings there, as they ever have been, are so complicated.]

A white wine sangria. I think that makes sense. Light. Fruity. Cheerful. Sweet. Restrained and disciplined in a gentle way. An appropriate embodiment of her disposition, I think. I wonder if white wines or sangrias are things she would be accompanied to back home.

[A giggle echoes right from her chest.]

Isn't she a bit young to be? Although, I'm not sure how old the people in her world would have been to be able to, but I still won't serve her any at the Harvest. Not yet, anyway.

[Though that doesn't mean that Susato hasn't tried any, she's sure. Just not by the bartender's hand. She has to be responsible!]

Sangrias are a bit... out there, though. Kind of rare. Not a lot of bars around where I'm from make them.

[Then again, the slums aren't exactly the kind of place one would find someone drinking a sangria, of all things. Or wine in general.]

…Is she?

[Perhaps. Beatrix has never asked about ages. Her perspective, she suspects, is a bit skewed. What is a childhood, after all? She certainly can’t really remember having one for herself. Filing all of this away for later consideration, Beatrix makes a note not to share any of her wine.

Susato had refused once before, but Beatrix had simply assumed it was out of personal taste rather than an arbitrary number.]

I have not had a sangria myself either. Gaia is no stranger to different drinks, though I confess I do not visit taverns much. I suppose I discovered a fondness for wine and had no reason to try anything else. Alexandria Castle nobles have been known for darker ambers. Brandy and other like things. A bit too strong, I think, for someone like me.

[Rather, Beatrix suspects the strength would overpower her own.]

Hmm...

[Tifa hums quietly into her drink, and there's a much more serious pucker to her brow than the topic of conversation should allow. She's taking this seriously! And she's also several drinks in...]

I think just a simple glass of wine suits you best, though.

[There's a bright flicker of fondness in her eyes as she peers over her glass at Beatrix.]

If you walked into my bar for the first time, my first thought definitely wouldn't be "she needs a glass of brandy".

A simple glass of wine, hm?

[Beatrix smiles into her cocktail. How ironic, that. Something so simple for a woman who is really anything but simple. It’s a fair assessment, however. Most people who have seen her in her element in this place very likely have associated her with wine. The colour of her eye, perhaps. Something else in her apparel.]

Do you often get bar patrons who are only interested in wine, Tifa?

[Beatrix does bring up a good point.]

Not often, no. I get a few, but most of them come for a cold bottle of beer, or one of my cocktails.

[And more often than not, it's typically after a long day at work, or on the weekends for a place to hang out, and she's always thought that something like wine was better enjoyed staying in.

But as she looks over Beatrix, Tifa lowers her glass and sets it down on the table and allows her smile to spread.]

Wine is a more subtle drink, but it's... refined. Depending on the wine, it can be strong, sweet, or sometimes even a little bitter, but it's always rich in flavour. Best enjoyed on quieter nights when someone just wants to kick back and relax.

[She meets Beatrix's eyes and there's a very faint gleam behind them.]

And you don't get hangovers.

[Beatrix figured as much. People who like wine don't tend to frequent taverns. Such places are rough and rowdy. Obnoxious. She'd describe it as being very much beneath her, honestly, though she has the good sense not to say as much. How she feels about such locales has no bearing on how she's like to respect someone running such an establishment. It would not be convenient work to act as proprietor, after all. Tifa must have nerves or steel.

She listens to her dark-haired companion continue, turning the words over in her head, and wondering what any of that says about her. Strong. Sweet. Bitter. Is she really any of those things? Perhaps the first and the last. 'Sweet' just sounds laughable. But when it comes down to wine, it is very much a varied spectrum. There are many different kinds with different bodies.

Beatrix tucks herself behind her glass for some moments, meeting Tifa's eyes that are not so different from her own.]

I do not believe I have ever experienced such a thing. Perhaps my drink of choice is the reason as to why. Some of Captain Steiner's men would complain in passing and the only thing I took from it was that it made them even less capable than they were to begin with.

[That gets a little snort of amusement out of Tifa that she has to immediately drown in her drink.]

I've never had one either, but I hear they can get pretty nasty.

[And she's going to leave it at that. It's not something she ever wants to experience for the sake of simply experiencing it once. The stories she's heard and the ones that Beatrix has heard are more than enough for her to get a picture of what it's like.]

There were some guys that would come back the next morning with hangovers and ask for plates of eggs and would down a few too many cups of coffee. I think that was good enough for me to learn my lesson.

But that's not to say that none of the other drinks aren't great in moderation. Just have to find the right one.

Eggs.

[Is there supposed to be something magical about them? They are only eggs, after all. Beatrix doesn’t seem to understand the significance there, but makes a note that sometime, should she find herself in the presence of someone who is accustomed to hangovers, to asking for more details. Not that she suspects any such information will be applicable to her personally.]

Regardless, I am inclined to agree. Although I would not say I have much of an adventurous tongue. I have always been of the opinion that if I have found something I like, I am inclined to stay with it rather than trying new things.

[Some might call that cowardice and she’d have a hard time arguing against it, but she doesn’t seem inclined to outright admit to it either.]
