On the very same evening that Eustace and… quite a group of men have departed on a camping trip, Oriphi has invited Tifa, Beatrix, Susato, and Kainé to her home for Tifa’s respective “bachelorette party.” It has taken quite a bit of research and discussion between Trahearne and Ori as to how exactly these things go; while Trahearne isn’t familiar with these sorts of customs, on Ori’s part it’s more of a lack of exposure to them. She’s only ever been part of one wedding her entire life, and it wasn’t quite like this. There were two bachelors, for one…

In any case, Ori and Diluc’s home is, predictably, very cozy and full of plants. There are various balloons and other such party decorations peppered throughout the house, but most of the activity will be taking place in the large common area. Once everyone has arrived, they begin the festivities with a nice, warm dinner and wine before they get around to the rest of their night!

On the dining table, Ori has set up a floral arrangement station on the large dining table for them to put together both their and Tifa’s bouquets and the other floral decorations needed for the wedding (to be kept fresh with the help of dreamotion) and various crafting supplies for any other little touches and decorations they might want to make for the ceremony or reception.

The coffee table in front of their couch, meanwhile, boasts a wide spread of desserts and cocktails, including macarons and banana boats. Their drinks for the evening are a specialty starry night cocktail which Diluc helped her create; and if they look closely, they would see little dreamotion stars twinkling in the liquid.

There are also created homemade spa treatments like face masks, lotions, and the like should any of them feel like some well-deserved self-care. Their light blue bridesmaid dresses hang nearby, ready for them to try on and have fun with before they’re properly worn for the ceremony, along with Tifa’s wedding dress! And finally, there are lots of pillows and cushions and blankets and bedrolls for each of them for when it's time to fall asleep, and the fireplace is going with a nice, cozy fire.

The evening is, for the most part, loose and entirely up to them, but what matters most is celebrating Tifa and her upcoming nuptials by having quality girl time!

[For a moment, she considers simply asking why Susato hasn’t considered wearing her hair in a different way, but realises easily enough that habits can be quite difficult to break. And the question could be just turned around on her as well. After all, why hasn’t she bothered to change how she wears her hair?

The one time during the Lindwurm situation doesn’t count, probably.]

[Beatrix falls into consideration as she lifts a hand to toy with the rosette curl of chestnut brown.]

I suppose I have not given it more thought than I felt it needed. I am also a creature of habit. I have only really worn my hair the way I would back home. It has gotten substantially longer, however. I do not think I know how else to wear it.

[Perhaps something for them both to consider.]

[ Perhaps, indeed. She has only ever broken the habit for special occasions, such as Flower Fest; and here they have the wedding, presenting itself as another, perfect opportunity. ]

Do you think Tifa will want us to match?

[ As bridesmaids? She's not overly familiar with the customs, but that would make sense, she thinks. They will already be matching in dress. ]

That… is a fair question that I am afraid I have not the answer to.

[Loosing a quiet laugh, Beatrix takes a few moments to carefully draw slender fingers through the ends of Susato’s hair that she’s loosened.]

I did ask how she wanted to wear hers, but never thought to ask about the rest of us. It would be prudent of us to find out. I will make sure to check with her. If she has a style she wants us to employ, it would behove us to practise if necessary. Although it is possible that someone else may just do our hair for us.

[ She grins at Beatrix's laugh, and tucks away the hair ties somewhere safe, fully intending for her hair to stay down for the rest of the evening. ]

I will ask as well. But for now, I think it is alright to let her relax. There will be time to figure out all the details.

[ No need to stress her out. Though Susato does glance in Tifa's direction, wherever she may be in the room. ]

You are right. We have time.

[Time that will likely pass quicker than any of them truly realise. As she's looking back on it all, it's already been hard to believe that as much time has passed as it has. But in the interim...]

Your hair is quite a bit longer than I anticipated. I suppose wearing it up would give it that impression. Out of curiosity, have you had the length tended to at all whilst in Reverein?

[...Do they even have a hairdresser?]

[ ...Do they? Susato runs a hand through her hair, regarding it idly, but she has to shake her head. ]

I'll admit, it hasn't been a priority for me beyond making sure it isn't too unruly. But...now that you mention it, this doesn't feel like a year's worth of growth...

[ A quirk of this dream world, perhaps...? Has it even grown at all?

Also: a year. How time flies. ]

[How quaint. Something for Beatrix to consider later on. She is almost certain her own is not as it was when she initially arrived. At least, it certainly doesn’t seem to be when she’s trying to get it out of her way. But perhaps people are affected in different ways, or it is a side-effect of one’s dreamotion or self-perception.

She’s never even thought about it much until this very particular moment.]

Hm… You said yourself that you tend to wear your hair up.

[She’d notice when she was putting it up certainly.]

I would be curious to know the experiences of the others here as well. Tifa has very long hair, does she not? I wonder if it its length has increased. Or Oriphi’s for that matter.

[How did she never consider this before now? THE MYSTERY IS ON.]

[ The mystery is indeed on... Susato is surprised as well that this hasn't yet been a topic of discussion. As if to confirm what Beatrix is thinking, Susato continues thoughtfully: ]

I've never thought to ask them, but... I know Kazuma wears a ponytail that he did not have at home. At first, I simply thought it was a testament to just how long he was away... But now...

...

[ There is a pause. ]

I wonder if it is a product of his own self-image.

It... may be. Dreamotion affects things here in several different ways. Perhaps it is his reaction, subconscious, to the reaction of passing time. But that is only theoretical. In truth, I know very little about dreamotion. I do know that we are capable of affecting the environment with our feelings and if our thoughts, direct or inadvertent, are responsible for much the way dreamotion manifests, then I suppose our appearances may fall into that.

[Which probably means any of them could cut their hair or otherwise change their appearance. Or so it seems to, all things considered.]

I will say if you had longer hair, I imagine it would be even more complicated to wear the way that you do.

[ The passage of time is one thing, though Susato also suspects that it is his way of being closer to his father, in a way that he never got a chance to before. She'll keep that thought to herself though while she listens, and nods, because...

It makes sense.

She will also chuckle to agree with Beatrix's next assessment. ]

[ Her hair is already complicated. She runs a hand through it casually, and her eyes linger. ]

Well, at least longer hair gives us more possibilities. Let us try new styles until we find something that Tifa will like.

And we can try on our dresses to see how they'll look together, too.

[Beatrix has never much thought about entertaining new styles. Not because she doesn't like the idea, but because she's always had an imagine to maintain. People know her by appearance. If she were to suddenly change that, would she even be herself? Although it's a puzzling notion she thinks she ought to be defined by her apparel or the way in which she wears her hair.

It's all a bit silly in retrospect.]

Did you already stop to take a look at them? The dresses, I mean. I thought they were all rather eye-catching. More than suitable for Tifa's grandiose day.

[ This is all a bit silly, but it's a win when this is the biggest thing you have to worry about. Susato lets out a small laugh at the teasing sentiment. ]

Yes. They are all blue...

It's not a color I'm used to, if I'm honest. [ She looks down at the pyjamas she is wearing now, which... are probably some shade of pink. Has she ever worn anything but? (She has, but never for long.) ] ...Hopefully it will not look too... out of place on me.

Oh, yes. I seem to recall oft seeing you in pink. Your favourite colour, perhaps?

[She seems to be thinking aloud, though her attention turns rather quickly when she hears the way Susato follows up. Raising an eyebrow, she shakes her head. They can't have that kind of concern, even if Beatrix is experiencing it a bit herself. Blue's not exactly her colour either, but...

Sometimes one just doesn't know until they try it, which sounds oddly optimistic of her when she's giving it more thought.]

You are going to be lovely in whatever you wear, Susato. It is not all about colour. It is also about fit and how you feel in it. Beauty is more than appearance. It is feeling and representation.
