[OPEN] Thanksgiving in Reverein (2022)

Who: Anyone!
Which: Log, OPEN
Where: The Wild Harvest
What: Open mingle log for anyone wanting to attend the Thanksgiving dinner Alastor advertised on the journals the day before
When: Forward-dated to November 23rd between noon and 6PM
Warnings: None

Starting at noon and ending at six PM, The Wild Harvest had a few tables pushed together and covered by white tablecloths. Atop the tables were stacks of plates along with large serving trays full of food that had been promised in the invitation Alastor had put out the day before.

Also as promised, there were two extra tables added to the end, a stack of small slips of paper and a few pens. There was a little sign as well:

Please write your dish's name along with your own on one of the provided slips of paper. This way we can get any empty serving dishes back to their original owners.

Aside from the tables occupied by food, there were plenty of seats for people to sit down to eat at whether they wanted to mingle or to dine alone. A far nicer setup than the plaza the previous year.

Bringing in Dishes
(Isabela has never celebrated Thanksgiving in her life before. In fact, Colombians probably never heard of it either, but if there is anything about parties and Colombians combined, it is going to be a big celebration over food and bonds. Plus she does want to showcase more of her country’s cuisine despite her currently novice cooking skills.

But it is not just some dish she is bringing for this feast: it is a simmering hot pot of ajiaco, a delicious chicken, corn and potato soup (plus the closest herb she could find to guasca in Reverein) along with avocado slices, capers, and cream as accompaniments. She also makes sure to put up her ajiaco’s name on the provided paper slip so people can know what it is and she can get her serving dish back. Julieta Madrigal would been very proud to see her eldest daughter putting up a good cooking effort.)

Dinner and General Mingle
(With the feast now started, Isabela could finally dig in and savor the food. Aside from a bowl of ajiaco, she has selected some slices of roast boar, mixed greens, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, and a slice of pecan pie. And so far, it is tasting mighty good indeed and she is clearly enjoying herself. Care to sit next to her or give her a hi or wave?)

Oh, the delicious scent coming from this pot? That would be an ajiaco, it is a chicken and potato soup from my home country and people would often have them for lunch or dinner.

Usually, my Mamá does the cooking for the whole family, but tonight, I actually do cook this soup on my own.

Yes indeed, it is a very delicious dish indeed. I’m hoping that I have made more than enough soup to satisfy many stomachs and have leftovers at the same time. But don’t worry, I will try to find a way to leave some for you.

Oh yes, that is pretty much appreciated, Alastor. I’m more than happy to hear them from you already.

I will definitely take my time enjoying several of the food in the buffet, there is no time limit in eating, right?

Oh that’s really great to hear. I thought for a moment that there might be one for the meal, but I’m very glad that we don’t have to rush things too much during a big feast besides the food service deadline.

Oh yes, that’s a fair point. It wouldn’t make sense if people had to rush with eating their meals on parties and gatherings like this.
