[Because this is real. Sora has to tell himself that too. This might be a dream world but these little moments and these little touches are real. Riku's real. He's here and everything's going to be okay. Even if things are changing or have changed? Everything's going to be okay.

He sniffs back a sniffle and pulls back too to smile up at Riku. That same old Sora smile that's warm and reassured. A smile that's a little more for Riku than it is for anyone else.]

Don't you know it. [Sora chuckles softly. Maybe his own voice is a little shaky too but he's keeping it together better than Riku is.] I've got a lot more trouble to get into so you better stick with me this time.

[A quiet promise between the both of them. This time Sora really hopes that they can stay together.]

[retrieves]

[yeah, Riku's Been Through It, so he's having a bit of a hard time. but he's getting control of himself now, especially since they parted. he doesn't want Sora to see him cry -- he's supposed to be the strong one and Sora the emotional one, not the other way around.

he remembers for a moment Sora crying when he'd found him again when Riku was still in Ansem's body, and while he thought in his head what a sap, he feels like he understands it now. Sora had never really left Riku at that time, since he'd still been watching him from the shadows and guiding his way, but to Sora...they'd been apart for a while.]

Always. Even if you try to shake me off the trail again, I'll still find you.

[he ruffles Sora's hair, before shaking his head. enough of all that.]

I thought you were going to make a pillow fort, not have a heart-to-heart.

[And as far apart as they have been now Sora has technically been apart from Riku longer than Riku knows. The years that stretched with Sora lost in other worlds only to find himself here and dreaming. It's stretched so long now that the relief that Sora feels in his chest almost hurts. He honestly can't count the number of times he has cried about missing Riku and Kairi.

He chuckles softly and then swats playfully at Riku's hand before he flops down on the bed. Casually folding his arms behind his head like he owns the whole thing.]

I guess I got a little sidetracked. But what's new? [Maybe the pillow fort making can wait. Sora seems to want to talk more.] Now that you're here, Riku, is there anything you're looking forward to? Wanna do?

[retrieves]

[Riku laughs quietly when Sora asks him what he wants to do. there's nothing he really wants out of this dreamworld yet, because everything he wants is right there, lying in his bed and taking up space. the way he'd missed so much...]

There's not going to be any room for me.

[but as always when he's trying to act like Sora's a nuisance, it sounds completely half-hearted, even as he shoves at the boy's shoulder a bit.

he considers his wording a little bit, feeling a knot in his throat again. that this was real, or as real as it could be, that he'd actually found Sora. but if this was a dream world, then would they be ripped away so easily again? maybe they were just doomed to be chasing after each other for the rest of their lives.

not that it's a hardship, because he'd follow Sora anywhere.]

There's this guy that I wanna catch up with. [Riku flops back on the bed now himself, not caring whether he lands on Sora or not.] He left me in the dust for a little while and had a bunch of adventures without me. He says he's been gone for a few years, but he's still pretty short...

[oathkeeper]

Hey!!

[Sora lets out a puff of laughter. That same happy little ache in his chest flutters up when Riku shoves at his shoulder. He flails his arms harmlessly before insistently patting the bed with his palm. And when Riku continues saying something so sweet and smooth at the same time he can't help but smile like an idiot. Watching as Riku flops down right next to him.]

Maybe he's so short because he's been missing something this whole time, you fat butt.

[He jokes gently as he shoves Riku and then turns his body to face him.]

But the best part is that there's time to catch up now. There's a whole lot of places that you can see around here. And I wanna show you everything. And tell you everything! A little bit at a time.

[retrieves]

[Riku laughs a little as well.]

Your veggies and milk? Yeah, I could agree with that.

[but then Sora tries to make it more sincere all over again, and Riku gets feels his chest tighten as he looks over at him. he reaches out to ruffle Sora's hair again, smiling at him.]

You will. Knowing you, I have a lot to catch up on.

[Sora was always getting into Some Sort Of Shit.]

[Sora snickers in response. The same little flutter in his own chest at the familiarity of it all. They could go back and forth for hours about how much they've missed each other. Even if Riku says his part with teasing remarks and Sora always tries to turn it back on him. He wouldn't change anything about this. He's just happy to have it again.]

Heh. But I promise we'll catch up again, Riku.

[And with that they'll chat into the night about all the things they want to do together and the magical and dreamy things Sora has seen here in this world. Before they end up falling asleep (Sora falls asleep first, like usual) there on the bed together. Just like they did when they were little kids... And maybe this time Riku can actually get some good rest knowing that Sora is right there.]
