[Leo absolutely loved being needed, and when Percy approached him about making a boat, he hit the moon. Of course, he knew nothing he could create here would match the beauty of the Argo II back home, but he would do what he could to make this the second most awesomest boat in history.

He had told Percy to give him a bit to make some sketches and come up with a list of things he would need to make it happen, and he also needed to brainstorm about an actual workshop. He had been scouting places for one since he got here, but he was going to have to make a decision soon. It was hard to beat the Cabin 9 Bunker, though.]

Okay, here’s what I’m thinking. We can probably go half-size trireme, if there won’t be many more than just us two. You got your magical water powers, I got my amaze-balls captaining skills, so it’ll be a breeze.

[He shows Percy a series of crude drawings and sketches to make his point.]

I got a list of things I’ll need. I’d like a hella cool masthead like Festus was, but that may be out of the question here.

[...........Percy is already literally so overwhelmed.]

I just need a ship. That’s all. It doesn’t have to be…[he’s going to wave his hands around at the drawings.] Like this. Just something that won’t sink is fine with me.

[Leo just sighs and shakes his head.] Percy, Percy, Percy… You don’t know what you’re talking about. If we’re sailing, we need to sail in style. And also, we gotta be prepared for whatever’s out there! You don’t remember our quest together, we got attacked. Like, a lot. We need defenses, and catapults, and probably some really good sonar and radar equipment too.

[Percy rubs his face… he’s already so tired of getting hit with the “lol you don’t remember” thing, but he can’t really help it.]

I mean, you have me to handle most of all that. Some defensive things might not be too bad, but we really don’t need to go over the top with it.

[something tells him that he made a mistake in asking Leo for something like this–]

Bro, you don’t understand, I live over the top! And anyway, having you there didn’t stop Shrimpzilla, or any of the other dozen of monsters from nearly killing us and destroying the ship. I had to do so much repair work, it’s not even funny!

[Not that he minded the repair work, it kept him busy and not thinking about how Nemesis said it was the seventh wheel of the quest and feeling absolutely sorry for himself–]

You and Jason both had the major god fire power and we still got our butts handed to us. A lot. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about here.

Anyway. What’s your list of supplies? Let’s just go ahead and see how much materials we can get before this gets out of hand.

[Leo hands Percy a list that looks like the following:

This is a start, anyway. I need a workshop before I can do anything, though. Otherwise I can’t do ‘nothing without tools and a good setup.

[Percy takes the list and squints. he never wants to hear Annabeth say that his spelling is atrocious anymore, because there’s almost no way that he can read what Leo’s even saying here. the words are swirling on the page, coupled with Leo’s bad handwriting…

his head hurts.

he sits down on the edge of the fountain and takes out his notebook and a pen (that isn’t Riptide), and lets the writing utensil hover the page for a bit.]

I don’t even know how to spell “fire extinguisher”, but I know that’s not it at all. The rest is…too much.

[Too much? Percy really hasn’t seen nothing. Leo rolls his eyes, then points to the list Percy’s making in the notebook.]

It’s not too much, it’s important! How else am I going to pilot the ship?? [There’s a thing called a steering wheel, Leo…]

Also, dyslexic, hello? I know you are too. Also also, thoughts on flight capabilities? I know Jason is the flying guy, so if we run into venti, we’re screwed, but if I get the right stuff, I can probably make something work–

[ Susato visibly eases. Honestly, if they'd started to fight over it, Susato was prepared to snatch the pen away from both of them--but for now, she'll turn to Percy.

[he almost looks like he's being an ass, honestly.]

[OH MY GODS HE DID NOT JUST DO THAT!!! Leo promptly makes a face at Percy because wow that was so rude!!!

So he's just going to turn his attention to Susato because he is determined to prove Percy wrong now. He's not going to try to take it, but he's definitely going to lean closer and examine it.]

Have you ever, like....put the cap on the bottom? Cause putting the cap on the end of the blade turns it back to a pen, right? Just a thought.

[ Gasp!!! Susato looks positively starry-eyed. Is that how it works? There had been so much going on in that Hall of Mirrors... She can see Leo leaning in as well, and she'd rather not have Percy get mad at her if Leo was able to pry it from her hands.

When Leo mentions it though, she angles the pen so that she is looking at its cap, still safely secure over the tip. Does that mean removing it automatically turns it into a sword? Or does he have to will it so?

[Percy watches as if to prove Leo wrong and that Riptide will actually end up turning into a sword after all.

but when Susato puts the cap on the other end, he frowns.]

[ SHE IS SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW? She doesn't understand why they are dropping imaginary microphones. There is a flinch at Leo's outburst, but they seem to be having fun, so when Riptide doesn't turn into a sword, she doesn't look too disappointed. ]

I have definitely seen it as both. [ Right? Like... She didn't dream the Hall of Mirrors, did she?

--don't answer that. In fact, don't mind her as she randomly turns to a page in her notebook to test out this pen. Does it write normally? ]

[yeah, no. the Hall of Mirrors sure was a thing that happened.

it writes, but the ink looks like celestial bronze when it flows onto the paper. just the color of course, not the metal itself. just pretty enough to be weird.

Percy's not going to comment other than giving Leo the side eye, but instead he's going to be looking over Susato's shoulder marveling on the fact that Riptide is a pen.]

Whoooooooop! Who's the man! It's Leo! Awwww yeah! [don't mind him, he's doing a little jig to himself to celebrate.]

I don't know why ya'll never believe me about this stuff. Magical weapons are totally my thing. Frank didn't believe me about his magical quiver either.

[ Oh good lord, he's still going. Susato stops amid writing the Japanese letters of her name, admiring the bronze color before her attention is drawn to Leo.

Or at least, here, have Riptide back. She is going to finish writing her name and offer it back to its rightful owner. ]

[It's okay, while they're talking and ignoring him, Leo's gotten suddenly distracted by his journal and the messages he's getting from Beat. Watch him carefully sounding out each word, before he suddenly stands up and gasps.]

Susato blinks, having forgotten that they were even talking about that. She'll let Percy worry about Riptide (or not) and peer over Leo's shoulder. ]

[Percy claps his hands over his ears, yelping because it's loud and also startling for Leo to be Like That so suddenly.]

Yeah! It's Beat. And he said I can use one of those boobie thingys in a magic well?? [Once Beat had explained what it was Leo remembered waking up and finding them, but he had no idea what he did. He reached into his toolbelt now, withdrawing one and looking at it curiously.]
