[OPEN] you know what old people do?
Who: Norimune and you!
Which: Log
Where: Around Reverein
What: After waking up, Norimune ease back into life here! Calligraphy, mockingbirds and books!
Warnings: N/A.
► Plaza: Calligraphy (Optional: Insightful Mockingbirds)
[As one walk by the plaza, they may notice a small crowd around Norimune. He's sitting down with a drink near him. In one hand, he's holding a brush tipped with black ink. His other hand is holding down the paper in front of him. Some of the people watching him may be holding their own papers, some of which have black writings on them. For the informed, some of them are familiar looking characters (Japanese). They're typically simple kanji, but some of them might be read as names or phrases.
After he finish writing one, Norimune laughs as someone requests him to write something for them.]
Oh, yes, I can! Just tell me something about yourself as I write.
[For the sharpest of eyes, they may notice subtle dreamotions at work as Norimune writes and chat with interested parties. Nothing fancy, just seems to be small, simpler effects like a gentle cool wind. After finishing writing something, he glances up. He smiles when he meet your eyes.]
Curious, aren't you?
[He'll be doing this for a few days, practicing while doing requests for anyone who asks. And on some days, the mockingbirds may be flying around and starting to perch on people...]
► Tree of Stories
[The impressively massive tree hold his interest ever since he first saw it from a distance. And now Norimune finally decide to come over and check it out. Upon seeing the many, many shelves lined up with books, his eyes lighten up with great interests. So many stories, likely many tales and information his world doesn't know. Or doesn't exist.
Norimune can be found reading the books curiously. And occasionally, a chuckle would come out from him at times. Softly, just not too loud. The security owls nearby are watching, in case of trouble. Trouble he doesn't intend on causing. Because it sounds like a lot of work to deal with.]
... Oh?
[After pulling out a book, Norimune made an intrigued sound as he spot the cover and read the title.]
"Katchu Ranbu", you say?
[And this time, his chuckles sound a little louder than before, as he flick through the pages. After he got his fill, he'll resume checking the other books. Just... this one seems so amusing to him.]
(OOC: If you want to talk about a different story, lemme know. Finding Kiss Him Not Me's Katchu Ranbu just sound funny.)
► Wild Card
[Plotting comment.
If you want a custom starter (I love to do custom starters tbh) or want to bring your own scenario, hit me up over PMs or
Sonica!]

Calligraphy
So when Norimune has a spare chance, Unnamed waves his hand to get his attention and signs to him:
"What that?" He points to the calligraphy, then signs "what?" again; since grandpa is still learning c: ]

"Calligraphy, kid. It's the art of writing."
Turns out these lines and pictures are writing.]
no subject
Ouh!
[ GOT IT.
"I understand! Fun?" he asks, crouching down to peer more closely at the characters Norimune's written, before looking to the man himself. ]
no subject
Art is subjective, as well as one's own tastes. He points at the characters he just wrote, the ink in the process of drying under the open sky.
"What do you think? Can you read it?"]
no subject
"Why so much?" he chooses to ask, pointing at the myriad of lines. "No A B C?" ]
no subject
"I speak and write in Japanese, which uses three writing systems. Kanji, hiragana and katakana.
Instead of letters like A B C, we use hiragana and katakana as for syllables. Kanji are much fancier and special, can you guess what they're for?"]
no subject
"I want to see." ]
no subject
"Okay. I'll write my name as an example."
Using an example would make it easier to understand. Norimune write his name clearly in each writing system, his quill moving with smooth ease. Above each of them are labels.
Hiragana
いちもんじのりむね
Katakana
イチモンジノリムネ
Kanji
一文字則宗
"Hiragana are our standard letters. One character for each sound, and we use them similiarly to your letters. Ichimonji Norimune would be いちもんじのりむね.
Katakana are typically used for foreign words and names. For example, a food from another country would be written in katakana.
Kanji are symbols we learned from another country. We use them to represent important words. They're useful for telling things apart, like words that sound the same but mean different things. For my name, if people see "一文字則宗", they generally know it reads Ichimonji Norimune and it's a name."]
no subject
He starts to look a little flustered as he turns to Norimune.
"I don't hear sounds, I am deaf. I cannot learn these??" That last one is a question. Is it possible for him to learn if he doesn't know the sounds? ]
no subject
"It's fine, you can still learn these." As he thinks back, he wasn't around when Japan learned and developed their own distinct sign language. His true body weren't anywhere near that area, nor did he inherit the knowledge...
"For you in particular, you can think of them as letters. Do you want to learn?" If so, he might need to figure out a lesson for Unnamed. His usual approach of "letting the kids figure it out" wouldn't work as well.]
no subject
"You teach me?" ]
no subject
Well, they could start right now. But that means stopping his calligraphy stunt for the time being.
"Until then, how about I write something for you? You can hang it up in your home."]
no subject
"Yes please!"
He's never been given a piece of art before--so you can bet that sucker's going up in his house
even if he's rarely there]no subject
"What do you want me to write? A nice word? Or your name?"
... Hm, hang on...]
no subject
And Unnamed? Is a huge fan. ]
