HAIR BRAIDING

[It's one of those nights where Venti has come knocking on Heizou's door. He couldn't really say whether it's just for companionship or for a warm bed to sleep in for the night. Not that it matters to Heizou, either way. Venti is always welcome in his home and bed, so much so that Heizou has a special cabinet in the kitchen reserved specially for Venti's favorite food and drinks.

The only thing he requires of Venti's visits is that he be prepared for Heizou's brand of affection. In whatever form his whim decides on. And on this particular night, it's Heizou laying with his head on Venti's lap while he reads one of his newest books.]

[With the temperatures slowly starting to drop Venti often finds himself sneaking into this place and that to stay warm for the night. It's funny how after all this time Venti still doesn't have a place of his own. But why bother? When he likes sleeping in trees and under the stars. And when he has such sweet bedmates like Heizou to stay warm with at night.

Venti's fingers gently comb through Heizou's hair as he softly hums.]

Are you lost in another new story? And what's this one about, hm?

[Heizou absently tilts his head up into the touch with a smile, relishing in the way it feels without his headband in the way for once.]

It's another mystery. It's fascinating, actually-- All of the witnesses to a murder are claiming that the suspect looked exactly like the victim! So our heroine has to uncover a great many secrets to figure out what's going on. I'm quite enjoying it so far~

Another mystery! You never get tired of those? Although there's nothing more dramatic than murder stories, I suppose! Hm, maybe some love stories are.

[Venti giggles. He strokes a few auburn locks. His fingers start to section off a few soft pieces.]

[Heizou beams up at Venti, laying the book down on his chest while he looks up at him.]

My dearest Venti, I adore mystery novels~ But I'm not surprised that you prefer love stories... Do you have a favorite?

[concierto]

[Venti smiles down at the other.]

Well, with how many love stories I've read it's hard to pick just one! How about what kinds of love stories do I like? Stories with music, heartfelt confessions, emotions that run as deep as a river! Love in dangerous places and love in unexpected places, too! But most importantly love stories that make my heart murmur.

[Venti probably likes steamy romance novels-]

[Hearing all this pleases Heizou so much. He has a great love for reading and stories, and knowing that it's something he can easily share with the people he holds most dear... It makes him absurdly happy.

And hey, who doesn't enjoy a good steamy romance novel-]

Oh? And does your heart murmur for stories more than it does for real life?

[concierto]

[Being a lover of all things poetry and music Venti is very much a lover of reading and stories too. Because that's what most poems and songs are. Retelling tales of emotions felt and words said. He loves it all.

Heizou's question is a cheeky one but also quite clever.]

Ehe, isn't there a touch of reality in all stories? But, if we're being literal, I believe the genuine murmur of a heart is more captivating than the pages.

[Venti then starts to gently braid a braid into Heizou's hair.]

Hmm. Yes, I'd have to agree with that.

[He then chuckles a little bit, letting his eyes drift shut so he can enjoy the sensation of Venti's fingers working with his hair.]

It's been a while since I last felt my heart murmur for reality that way, to be perfectly honest. But it's every bit as wondrous as the stories~

[And there's his confession, of sorts. Still tucked away within his cheeky tone, but Venti's more than capable of finding it.]

[He's happy to see Heizou so relaxed. His fingers will work expertly and gently as he braids Heizou's hair so that it will sit neatly to the side.]

Is that so? Are you hoping to feel a love story for yourself, Heizou?

[Venti looks down at Heizou with a tiny little smile. His heart warms to hear that.]

[He's only this relaxed around Venti. It doesn't take a genius to understand why.

That question makes his smile grow a bit, and he lets out a dreamy sort of sigh.]

If a love story finds me, I won't fight it. But it does... surprise me.

[concierto]

Oh? What surprises you?

[Venti questions softly. There's a gentle twinkle in Venti's eyes.]

[He goes quiet for a second, motionless save for the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he breathes, eyes still shut and hands still folded over the book he's put down.]

The simple fact that one can find me at all, I suppose.

[concierto]

It's not such a rare thing, my dear Heizou. You deserve to feel that pitter-patter in your heart as well.

[Venti leans down and presses a soft featherlight kiss to Heizou's brow.]

I don't mind turning the pages of our story...

[book2thehead]

[He huffs out a soft, ever so slightly incredulous laugh. Even as he leans up into the touch of Venti's lips.]

This story only exists in the world of our dreams, though.

[concierto]

And? It would be a shame to let a story go only because it has an ending.

[It's still worth it... Isn't it?]

[book2thehead]

[He lets out a soft, thoughtful hum at that, finally opening his eyes to look up at Venti. And there's something equally soft and thoughtful in the way that Heizou looks at him. Along with something that can only be described as adoring.]

...You're right. I do prefer a nice happy ending, though~

[concierto]

[He looks at Heizou with that same affectionate gaze. He cares for Heizou so deeply already. To see him happy would mean the world to Venti's heart. Venti's heart is much like the breeze.]

Have a happy one with me, Heizou. If you would like.

[He has more than enough room in his heart.]

[That makes a little smile spread across his face, much like the warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest.]

If I do that, then I'll never wanna wake up from this dream.

[concierto]

If we have to... I'll only have to find a way to find you in Teyvat. And the wind always finds a way.

[book2thehead]

Oh? You're really that determined to spoil me~?

[concierto]

And if I am?

[He playfully hums back.]

Is that alright?

[book2thehead]

[He gives Venti a playful, but endlessly fond look. Until Venti gets fed up with him, Heizou will cherish these moments.]

It's more than alright.

[concierto]

Ehe.

[Would he ever be fed up with his dear sweet Heizou, so charming and sharp? Never.

He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to Heizou's lips.]

[book2thehead]

[It'll be a while longer before he feels like he can really believe that. He wants to. He wants to so much. It's just hard when people have yet to prove him wrong.

Still, he presses up into that kiss, gentle and sweet. And when they eventually draw back he smiles and tugs affectionately at one of Venti's braids.]
