MIRROR MIRROR
With the sleepwalking curse over, everyone will have some time to rest and recuperate—until Jack Frost comes barging in with news of a clue on how to help his beloved Ice Queen who still remains asleep. The clue was the mirror shard that was in her chest, and there are theories that it may have been a fragment of a much stronger, powerful mirror she had been given some time ago. Problem is, he can't find it nor can he remember who gave it to her. He does, however, have a magic incantation that will allow people to enter mirrors and hopefully find a trace. Unfortunately, this horrendously backfires and we have mirror chaos instead. Dammit, Jack.
More details on everything can be found here. We will request any thread submissions for certain prompts during AC .
I. REVEREIN
It all begins in Reverein, where there's a strange shift in the air upon Jack's attempt to cast the spell. But instead of affecting just one mirror, it reflects off the surface and spreads out to the entire town, hitting every reflective surface instead. Ripples can be seen before the surfaces still, but it's too late. Every reflective surface—glass, mirror, window—is under a different effect because of the botched spell.
And some are being unwittingly pulled into them.
Fortunately It is possible to communicate and even watch people from the other side of the mirror, but it's only through certain mirrors and at certain times. It also will be temporary, so while one mirror might work one time, it may not work again.
A. Strange Reflections. While some mirrors may still reflect proper images, many will have…unusual changes.

🪞 You are what you see. Whether it's an odd hairstyle, change in skin color, or style of clothing in the reflection, suddenly the viewer will look exactly like what's reflected. The most extreme is a different form entirely.
🏡 Glimpses of home. Everyone will have a rare glimpse of their home world, and these can be instances from the past, present, or even a limited future. They are just reflections and cannot be interacted with, and future reflections may be blurry to prevent the person from seeing too much. For those who have memory issues, such visions will also be blurry, but perhaps they can help stir some things…
🔮 Most desired. Mirrors that have a bit of a pink hue to them will reflect the viewer's most desired "thing." It could be an object, person, place, or even a general idea. However, if not careful the viewer may become trapped in a trance and will need to be removed or smash the mirror.

D. The Unknown. Appearing in both the Mirror World and Reverein will be a strange mirror masked, black cloaked figure called "The Unknown." It traverses through the mirrors and through the walls, seeking those with happy reflections and will try to corrupt them with nightmares. People on both sides of the mirrors will be able to confront and try to stop the Unknown, though beware its chocolate attacks.
II. MIRROR WORLD
Everything in this "Mirror World" is, in a word, chaotic. Imagine an AI-generated monstrosity based off of Picasso, Escher, and Dr. Seuss, where everything seems to be upside down, backwards, colors everywhere and nowhere, and everything feels so fragmented that one step feels like walking towards the edge of a cliff. In a way it's nightmarish in an unusual sense, and those inside can feel that touch of "madness" that seeps through the cold air.
Beware the strange creatures in the Mirror World. They are grotesque monstrosities, many of them looking as if they were stitched together from different parts. Fortunately they are susceptible to weapons and dreamotion and those inside the Mirror World will find they are able to use different abilities, especially those with reflective properties.

Only upon finding a mirror that leads back to Reverein, but they will also need help from the outside. Someone from within Reverein must also be there to physically reach in and pull them out—while hopefully not accidentally be pulled in themselves.
Isabela Madrigal | Encanto
(Uh oh, it looks like Isabela has gotten a new makeover while tidying up her flower shop and she is angry that the glass window on her storefront is giving her a hard time. It was supposed to be a nice time to get Madrigal Blooms cleaned up and ready for spring time and she is expecting a huge influx of customers wanting to book her for any wedding and party they want to get her services for.
Well it would have a great spring cleaning session for her if it weren’t one accidental look on the window reflection that caught Isa off guard. Something is clearly off with said reflection: while other parts of her look fine and still remain as they are, her hair and clothes aren’t so lucky. Instead of colorful pollen dye and a noticeable edgy feminine style, the hair is painfully platinum blond and her outfit looks too awfully prim and polished for her own liking.
Now before she can book it and run, the glass window/mirror manages to change her look to reflect what it has shown to her.)
What the-
(Please excuse Isabela as she begins to rage on about how embarrassingly preppy looking she got and rant against this unwanted makeover to bits. She is clearly not fine and happy about this.)
Finding an Escape
(Eventually Isa decides to risk it and hop into the Mirror World to hopefully find anybody trapped inside this awfully distorted mess. Geez somebody should have supervised Jack Frost on how to cast spells on mirrors without causing too much unexpected chaos. Still determined to find a way forward, Isa hopes to lead the way out of this mess. Luckily she is able to spot the anchor point so she takes a mental note to remember it by heart and mind before making a sprint for any trapped people.
At some point, Isa would encounter a dreamer (you perhaps) and she offers a hand so they can get up and join her on the way out.)
Hey over here! We should take this path to the exit. Trust me, everything will be alright in the end.

An Unwanted Makeover
When he arrived, however, he stopped just inside the doorway as he heard the young woman raging about something to do with her clothing. The potted Elpis flower in his hands, which had previously be glowing a soft purple darkened to deep maroon at the force of her anger. After a few moments of just observing the scene he stepped forward and cleared his throat somewhat awkwardly to announce his presence.]
...Have I perhaps come at a bad time?

(Isabela is having a hard time trying to keep her composure over her unlucky encounter with the wonky mirror antics. The least she can do is to hope that no one else could end up in a similar fate like her. Nobody deserves to get their looks messed up by magical mirror induced chaos.
Then she soon realizes why Hermes did come to her in the first place. The Elpis flower in the flower pot soon catches her attention that any makeover rants in her mind almost went ‘poof’.)
Say, I noticed that the petals of the flower in the flower pot have some color changing properties. I don’t think that I have flowers similar to it in my world.

It's unfortunately rather easy for magic to go awry, especially when one is distracted. But I hadn't realized that the ... oddities were so widespread.
[He smiled slightly as her anger dissipated at the sight of the Elips flower. It returned to its previous soft purple shade in response.]
I would be surprised if there were. This flower was created entirely by chance by a former researcher at the facility I oversee in my own world, and was subsequently named after said facility: Elpis. It changes color based on the emotional state of those around it, a reaction to a type of energy known as dynamis. I wished to thank you for your help during the search for the flute and thought it might be of some interest to you.

(The petals soon change back to its previous soft purple color from the red that reflected her rage against her makeover much to her amazement. What an amazing sight to behold. Of course she wants to study this flower like the plant nerd that she is.)
Oh wow! That is a fascinating origin of this very flower you brought to me today. I’m really happy to see something that could make for a great visual flair and help us in understanding emotions in general. I would love to look into its emotional aspect even further.

Let us hope so, yes.
As for the flower, if you wish to study the Elpis in greater detail, I would be happy to leave it with you for a time. Judging by the many beautiful blooms already in your shop, I have no doubt that it would flourish under your care. Tis clear that you're quite passionate about your work.

Oh thank you. I do a lot of plant study and observation as much as I could when I’m not manning the shop. It has been a big passion of mine since I was a little girl. Plants do come in various forms and they don’t need to be extremely beautiful to stand out either.

Indeed; there are many varieties of flora and seedkin in Elpis, the flower that shares its name being only one, and it seems the same is true here. And though my expertise lies elsewhere, I've always been fond of flowers. While concepts for new creatures seem intent on producing creations that are ever faster, stronger, more intelligent, or otherwise tangibly improved compared to those that came before, flowers are much more about how they make one feel. More than any other life form, they are appreciated simply for what they are.

(She has been very fond of unusual and quirky plants that stand out for their amazing uniqueness, although it did took her so long to embrace her own identity without shame or fear.)

On Etheirys, it's considered unseemly to display one's individuality openly; that is why all wear masks and robe like mine. Even our hair normally remains unseen in public, though researchers at Eplis do not follow this convention within the facility for reasons of safety. While it as done much to prevent conflict and jealousy, I fear that perhaps we have lost something along the way. Perhaps we too could stand to learn from flowers, if we were willing to take the time to do so.

Yes, every life, whatever its form, is by its very nature full of beauty and possibility. Tis not something that one should ever disregard.

Don’t get me wrong, she did mean well. But she was primarily driven by her grief for so long it unfortunately spread onto the rest of the family too.

Thankfully one of my sisters was able to notice it firsthand and slowly get us to unload all of our excess emotional baggage, Abuela included. Even if it did took the temporary removal of our powers and our house falling apart in order for her to open her eyes.
