[There's a large black blotch that appears on the page, growing as time passes before Beat's messy scrawl begins to appear on the page.]

if you was gonna be gone tomorrow whats something you wanna be remembered for
like whatchu want the people whos still around to remember
if its a thing or a symbol or something ya do

whats that thing?

💀 ii. fresh coat of paint

[In the hours and days following Beat's message on the journals, he constantly finds himself standing in front of the memorial wall made after the fall of the Story Eater almost a year ago. Most of the graffiti and paintings depict people who were present facing off against a tall towering creature. Some depict the town of Reverein itself, others on what seems to be people on the moon that hangs in the sky.

Other pieces of art on the wall have no rhyme or reason, but many respect the space of those painted before, a collage of styles and personalities of all those who've lived in the village. Important details were not painted over and many left pieces to be continued by the next artist.

Beat had been doing just that, adding to some art of a bush with differing flowers on it: chamomile, roses, and yellow lilies. If you happen upon him, he may be in the middle of adding a few new pieces. It may be a tree with veins that glow a bright purple, cherry blossoms, or a black cat curling into itself at the roots of the tree.

Regardless of when you catch him in the process, the look on his face is sad, almost pensive or solemn. Nothing like one might expect if you've gotten the chance to meet him.]

💀 iii. dreamboard 402: top-tier pranks

[In an attempt to cheer himself up, Beat decided to participate in pranking a few hapless victims, hoping to get at least a laugh out of it.

If you walk past two posts or a narrow row of trees, you might find yourself slamming your face into a piece of plastic stretched across a distance. It is near invisible except for a perceptive few. Should you get caught you may hear a snicker hiding behind a bush or bench. And should you manage to avoid it, there's a clear grunt of frustration nearby.

It's not hard to find Beat hunched over something in an attempt to hide himself.]

he aint here and he aint sactly home either
so all that just got me thinking about this you know?

I understand. And that's a bit of a difficult subject either way. I know there are some who prefer being here to their circumstances back home, whatever they may be, and others who are simply happier here. But we don't really know the exact nature of this dream world that we're in, do we?

like part of me wants to go back and part of me wants to stay
we even gonna remember any of this if we leave?

I know there have been instances of people falling into comas here where they've "woken up" back home and lived out their lives there for a while, all without remembering anything about this place. But then when they awaken here, they remember everything.

It makes everything... that much more complicated, I think.

you got all of this missions that you gotta complete in a week
else you get erased for good

The friend that you mentioned earlier... Were they also part of that game with you?

nah he's someone i met here
just know that stuff went down back home for him too

[Then after a long pause, he realizes something and he adds.]

before you get any funny ideas i aint dead aight?

[...And he was definitely. Not thinking that. Nope.]

Ah, of course not! But it would be okay even if you were, you know.

so you wanna be remembered as a good detective
guess we gotta go with like a magnifying glass or something for you huh?

Oh! Are you adding symbols to represent everyone to that mural??

yeah been doing that for a coupla friends who left
gonna pass by flip factory anyways to skate and blow off some steam
figure i add nightlight and a few others i been slacking on

Yeah. He was here for a while... It would be nice to leave something here with his mark on it.

Oh, I'm really not much of an artist. I wouldn't want to add something to the mural that doesn't fit.

it aint about being an artist or nothing yo
its about adding something for your friend

[There's a little pause.]

just gotta check on something fore i head there

No need to rush on my behalf! I'll see you there in an hour~

[And in about an hour, Heizou will be coming over to join Beat at the mural. He's even out of his dressed down for the occasion, fully prepared to end up covered in paint - even if it's unlikely he'll be using enough paint for that to be a concern.]

[stillarhino]

[Beat makes it to the mural within the agreed time, arriving on his skateboard and a backpack slung around his back. The cans of spray paint within rattle loudly as he dismounts. He too is dressed similarly for the occasion with a black face mask looped around his ears, though it covers his chin instead of his mouth and nose.]
