Which: Open mingle
Where: The Wild Harvest, located on the ground floor of Kazuma's home.
What: Soft opening for a small pub called the Wild Harvest.

A new pub has opened in Reverein, though the news is only being spread through word of mouth, or if people just happen by the place this month. Kazuma isn't exactly new to managing a pub, but he wanted to be sure he does it right this time. So he's keeping things small and simple, while the crew work out any issues that may come up during the month.

The place already has a much more welcoming feel to it compared to the Hydeout, like a quaint little neighborhood pub. Right next to the pub was a garden, part of it growing into the pub itself. There's a herb station setup if people want grab something else to add to their dishes, though at the moment, the selection is limited until they can grow more plants. There are garnish and spice noodle dragons also roaming about, and they will occasionally add a little extra to a customer's food or drink.

The menu itself is moderately simple, listing various eastern and western style street food dishes. There is also a note that reads: Can request something to be cooked off menu, as long as there are ingredients.

A sign has been put up near the entrance, listing the seasonal specials for the month.

Eggnog (Alchoholic and Non)
Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea
Meat Stew.
Roast Fowl.

Note: Meat will vary depending on what's available for the day.

Another can be found at the bar, this one being a "help wanted" sign. While Kazuma is satisfied having a crew he can trust, he could probably do with a full time bartender and bouncer. There are only three staffed at this pub right now. Kazuma is handling the front the best he can. He's not as conversive as his Hyde counterpart, but he'll try since he'll be the one most people will see. Occasionally 76 can be seen at the bar handling drinks, otherwise he'll be preparing the food along with Susato in the kitchen. A few times she'll peek out from the back to help clear tables, talking to the others during down time as she adjust to working a restaurant.

[This is basically an open mingle log for people to use the pub setting for whatever they like! Kazuma, Susato and/or 76 may also tag in, unless specified. Pub and garden area are open to the public.]

[Seeing the pub open was enough to draw Roxas's curiosity, but seeing a familiar face behind the bar makes him grin. He takes a seat up at the counter.]

You make all the food here?

[If it's as good as the hot chocolate from before, Roxas is excited!]

Some of it- the stew on menu is mine, an I'll make some of the separate requests if I know it. [A slight gesture back towards the kitchen, after a light tap near a menu-] The roasted fowl, and some requests if she knows how, are cooked by Ms. Mikotoba.

Good bit of kitchen teamwork if you ask me, she knows what she's doing.

[He didn't mind her company back in the kitchen either. It was pleasant to say the least.]

Interested in anything, kid?

Woah... That's a lot of food.

[But he bets that there's a lot of good teamwork between the two, if there's so much food. He hums a bit in thought, peering over the menu. He seems to study it for a moment, before he speaks up again.]

I think I'll try the stew... and some more hot chocolate, if that's alright.

[He's become a fan, ok?]

[He leaned against the counter somewhat.]

We do our best with two of us working the kitchen.

[Leaning back then-]

Definitely alright. Hold tight where you are and I'll be back.

[76 headed back in to the kitchen were he could dip up a bowl of stew -currently beef, nice mushroom earthiness from it- and get a mug of hot chocolate. There was a Spicy Noodle and Garnish Noodle wiggling through the air after him as he set the bowl and mug down on the counter in front of Roxas.

Soon enough the hot chocolate was topped up with a mix of whipped cream and toasted marshmallows, and the stew given just a touch of something extra before both creature retreated.

He sounded a little amused when he spoke.]

Well, there you go. Careful, both are still a bit hot.

Okay.

[Roxas waits patiently, looking around at all the different sights of the pub while he waits. A few times he peeks at 76 and watches as he (with the help of the Noodles) fixes up the food. It really does look pretty magical!]

[Soon Roxas has his food and drink in front of him, and he grins, eyes a little wide.]

Woah, thanks! So this is stew..? It smells really good!

It's one type of stew, yeah; meat in it today is beef. Might be different tomorrow, using what I'm able to get my hands on and one of the farmers I've been helping out paid me in some good cuts of beef.

[A cow that went out in old age, which meant the meat was a bit tougher so stewing it to get it nice and tender -bring out flavor- was the best way to use it. He'd go hunting for deer once this ran out, or rabbit.

Whatever he could get-]

Have an alternative that just uses vegetables for folks that don't like, or don't want, to eat meat.

Huh... I didn't know you could have so many different kinds of stew.

[Just goes to show how little he knows about things. He goes to take a spoonful of soup, scooping it up and taking a bite.]

[Nom.]

[...]

[And his face lights up.]

Mm! This is really good!

It's a flexible sort of "let sit and cook low" comforting meal.

[At least some people found them comforting, and he knew how flexible they could be. Throw just about anything on hand together and it could make an edible stew.

76 did chuckle faintly, leaning against the bar.]

[Roxas isn't really sure what "let sit and cook low" means, but it must mean it produces something as tasty as the stew. He takes another bite all the more.]

Thanks. You really know a lot about cooking, huh? If you weren't a fighter, I think you'd make a good chef.

[Essentially he was right.

76 was keeping a watchful eye for anyone else approaching the bar, knowing that both Susato and Kazuma had the floor if they weren't busy elsewhere. Had to do his part to help cover spots after all; reason he was behind the bar at the moment at all.]

Mostly recipes I know from my Ma, and cook books kept around the house. I enjoyed reading, and learning through doing.

Your Ma? She must be really smart to come up with so many different kinds of cooking.

[It makes him wonder what kind of person 76’s mother is.]

You can really learn to cook just from books and practicing? That sounds easy enough… maybe I should give something a try. [The only thing he really cooked since getting here was melting some chocolate for chocolate bacon, and most of that was Sora’s work.]

Sounds a lot simpler than it can be, but that is basically it. Learn from whatever mistakes you make while trying to learn a recipe, one step at a time.

[He found it soothing, really. When he had the time, making something mostly to share or give others. Didn't eat as much as he should, but that was slowly changing even if it meant he'd eventually put on weight he was meant to carry rather than- well.

He was far thinner than he should be given everything.]

Heh... that's kind of like training, then. Or learning a new fighting style.

[Guess practice goes a long way no matter what it's applied to. Cooking, fighting Heartless, learning magic... Maybe they're a lot more in-line than he thought?]

Basically, just with food and making something edible.

[Tasting good could come after the 'make it edible' part because sometimes it seemed the be a harder one to get.]

Yeah.

[Roxas takes another bite of the soup before an idea hits him.]

Could you teach me some things sometime?

Sure, if you want.

[Honestly, all the better for people to have the know how in a place like this.

Able to take care of themselves that much more in a 'practical' way, not just fighting but more well being.]

[That makes a smile appear on Roxas's face.]

Yeah, I'd really like that. I think it could be fun!

[Plus if he gets to learn about how to make cool foodstuffs, he's down for it! He wants to learn more things, not just accept what's been told to him like he'd done in the past.]

[Give him one more thing to do on top of, well, again he thought it was better to know that not. Especially in a place like this where for the most part they were providing for themselves for any proper meals.]

Could be- and you enjoy that stew. Just get my attention if you want another- or anything else to eat for that matter.
