{ flower festival 2022 }

FLOWER FESTIVAL 2022
The three day Flower Festival has started and the town is covered in blooming flowers, music, smell of good food, and excited atmosphere. Full details on everything can be found here, but an important reminder that this event log doubles as our Test Drive Meme and information can be found in this section.
This means any outside characters participating in the log are canonly logged as appearing in Songerein in April and will remain in Songerein for the rest of the month of April. However, outside characters can only thread within this log, so for those seriously considering the game, you are welcome to use non-festival prompts for your toplevels. Anyone who apps in and is accepted will have their character count April as their first month in the game, so all content will carry over.
IMPORTANT! All outside characters MUST have "TDM" in their subject line, even if you might not app. This will help people differentiate those who are already in the game and those who are not.
TDM threads are required for samples. Refer to the Game Info for general information and feel free to toss any questions here. Reserves will open Sunday, April 24th and Applications will open on May 1st. Our application cycles are bi-monthly so the next cycle after won't be until July.

I. FLOWER VIEWING

There are gardens and flowers everywhere, but the main central location for the flower viewing is around the eastern side of town between the treehouses and the outside fields. Here there are plenty of both open and shaded spaces anyone can take to sit back, have a picnic, and enjoy the flowers blooming in the trees and along the ground. Food stalls are stationed by the treehouses for anyone who needs a meal and they provide blankets and picnic baskets as well.

B. Flower Serenade. Although it's meant to be a calm, relaxing affair, the flowers are drinking in the festive atmosphere and now have a tendency to sing their joy. They are especially drawn to any couples and will start to serenade them with…an assortment of "romantic" songs. Some may be persuaded via calm emotions to quiet down to a more melodious hum while others may be a little more obnoxious.

II. ENTERTAINMENT

All along the market square and the riverbank, stores and booths line the streets to provide goods, food, and entertainment for all festival goers.

B. Game booths. Come one, come all! Try out the various carnival games on offer. The game booths can be found lining around the riverbank and while there are many, here are some of the more popular ones:
Pebble Toss. Use dreamotion to change the color of a pebble and toss it into a bucket of water. The bigger the effect on the water, the more points scored. Earn enough points to win a prize!
- Goose Rings. Try to toss a ring around the neck of a goose sculpture. Which is, of course, magically enchanted to move around and dodge the rings. Being a goose, the sculpture is a bit of a jerk; it’s attuned to players’ dreamotion energy and will absolutely move around more as they get frustrated, so keeping one’s cool is important.
Bubble Pop! Use dreamotion darts to pop magical bubbles floating across a board. Can be played alone (score points by popping as many of one color as possible) or competitively (whoever pops the most of their color wins).
- Flighty Flowers. Create colorful paper flowers and use them to craft a floating lantern. The higher and further the lantern flies, the bigger the prize earned. Or, if one is especially creative or creates especially colorful flowers, they may just win a big prize regardless of how high it flies. Players can keep their lanterns if they wish.
- Smash! Toss balls at a series of bottles to try and knock them over. To keep with the theme of the festival, the bottles are tiny terrariums. Thanks to the magic of the festival,, the plants inside the bottles remain undisturbed no matter how many times they’re knocked over.
Swan Boat Races. Find a boating partner and participate in a timed race where you have to navigate through obstacles and try to post the fastest time with fewest penalties. Use dreamotion to get through obstacles like ramps, slow whirlpools that will cause the boat to spin in place, turbulent waters, etc. If not interested in the races, people are welcome to help paint and decorate the swan boats! They have to match the mood of the festival, after all.
III. TREE OF MEMORIES

At the center of town is a giant tree that is as tall as a clock tower and with giant books about as tall as a person hanging off its branches. There are a few attractions set up here and there are also some small owls that fly around and greet anyone who come by. They serve as the "guardians" of the tree, and should anyone try to harm it, they will converge together to form a giant owl to deal with them.
A. Dream Petals. As the Tree's petals fall, anyone who manages to catch one before it hits the ground will find their secret dream reflected on it. It could be something they are longing for or something they wish to keep from anyone. Once the dream's reflection is complete, it will remain on the petal and can be viewed at any time.

C. Soaring Butterflies. Ever wanted to just ride on something huge and enjoy the flight? There are giant butterflies that are large and strong enough to carry up to three people on their backs. These butterflies are actually local to Songerein and brought in by a native Fae. Whether that makes them more or less trustworthy is up to the character, but the butterflies are definitely frisky—and fast.

IV. FINAL DAY

On the third and final day of the festival, the winners of the Flower King and Queen contest are announced. However, there's a huge surprise as everyone finds themselves in a costume. While all contest participants have their own "Royal Court" theme, everyone else will find themselves suddenly dressed like a flower. There are a lot of variations from elegant to downright silly. Best(?) of all, the costumes will stay on until sundown. While parts may be loosened, altered, and removed for a short period of time, the costume will refuse to be changed out of and any attempts will be futile.

Y'shtola - FFXIV - TDM
Y'shtola walks along the path and observes what is around her. Such a strange new place with such odd energy...one could only guess how she's come to find herself here.
It's during these observations that she is stopped by the presence of flowers floating nearby which knit themselves into a crown by some unseen force. They float to her and seem to offer themselves. "For me?" She asks with a blink. "To whom do I owe my thanks?"
🌸 Flower Serenade
It is easy to be attracted to the sounds the flowers make. The relaxing hum - soothing to anyone who hears it - draws her in out of sheer curiosity. For lack of any other direction, she crouches down beside them and observes. "Flowers that sing on their own... Never have I seen such a thing."
She looks to someone nearby who seems to be drawn to them all the same. "Have they always done this?"
🌸 Entertainment
The festivities are observed one after the other, but not participated in directly. She is not one to dance and the games seem so childish in nature. Yet, she seems to observe them with some distant interest. Perhaps someone could convince her to participate simply by asking?
🌸 Tree of Memory
Most fascinating of all is the tree with large books in its branches. Y'shtola immediately goes to investigate, drive by her natural curiosity.
One of the guardian owls high in the tree branches 'hoots' at her upon her approach, and she pauses some distance away. She looks up at the tree - So many owls could not be a mere coincidence...
"What of the owls?" She asks to the nearest person nearby. "Why do they choose to dwell in this tree?"
🌸 Wildcard
If you'd like something else, please let me know!
no subject
No, not prior to this festival, anyway. Though Reverein remains ever a mystery even now. I dare say it's unexpected knowing what I do now. [And then a pause for consideration.] Did you recently arrive here, Y'shtola?
no subject
[ She looks at the area which surrounds them. ] This place is far removed from the one we call home, that much is plain.
no subject
It does, however, remind me of Il Mheg with all of the flowers. [So he appreciates the little touch of home, even if it's not really Il Mheg.] Have you any questions? I would be more than happy to answer any that you may have.
no subject
[ That explanation in and of itself brings to light more questions still. So she begins with the most obvious one: ]
You mentioned 'Dreamscapes'?

Tree of Memory
"But I'll take these guys over the angry flame-mama that threatened to... what was it? Burn everything down if we didn't find her lost babies? That was some fun babysitting."
Madhuri looked ahead, scanning the boughs for something.
"...Hm..." But made no remark on it.
"Welcome, by the way."

She had to wonder if her ability to see aether could perhaps pick up on this dreamotion energy, but that had her wondering if she could see dynamis.
"This tree is a bookworm's trap: Some of the books have been trapping people in cages, but I'm not entirely sure as to why it captures some but not others. To be blunt, I've been checking the area for captives... and bless him, but I worry that this place would be nectar to the Raha bee."
no subject
"When focused on goals in front of them, many forget to look up and observe anything else." She looks up at the owls in the tree branches looming overhead.
"Come. Let us see if we can find our captive friend. I fear he may forget to save himself."

Flower Crowns
Zidane would've gone with the usual tactic of 'surprise flower crown drop', but even from a distance he could tell that might not be a good idea. At least, not until she was adept to dreamotion in this world if that might help her better to see her surroundings.
"Just got here? To Reverein anyway."
no subject
"I apologize for the strangeness of this question: But on what continent does Reverein reside?"
no subject
Which sounds strange saying it out loud as always, but it's the truth.

Flower Serenade
Not that he knows how, mind.
What does help is the singing of the flowers. Xiao is, and it is something that he hides, drawn to the sound of music. As long as it remains upbeat and doesn't change to something romantic in nature, then he'll remain there. ]
No. Most varieties that I have encountered do not. I would assume that someone might have dreamed a series of flora that possess this ability.
no subject
[ She questions this, not having heard the term before this point. So she assumed that meant someone 'dreamed it up' and designed it themselves. ]
Do you mean that this is of someone's design?
no subject
However - ]
In this realm I mean it literally.
no subject
[ She looks off in thought. ]
But never did I think that dreams could have such power.

Serenade
While not a frequent audience for the flowers so far (there are far too many sights to see and games to play for that), they've certainly caught his attention more than once. "I believe I saw a few working together to form a chorus of sorts earlier."

He laughs and offers her a helpless shrug. "All hypotheses, of course, but I'd like to think mine own experiences lend them some sense of credibility."

Entertainment
It's purely by virtue of a particular act of goodwill that he recognizes her color. After all, Emet-Selch would be hard-pressed not to remember the shape and resonance of a soul he himself had plucked from the aetherial currents just a short time ago - nothing more than a blink, really.
Unprompted, he remarks: "After your time in the Rak'tika Greatwood, I would imagine this all must seem terribly whimsical by comparison."
no subject
But it seems not. Y'shtola looks in his direction with a look of surprise and slowly dips to a glower. How is this possible? "'Whimsey' is no longer a word I would use to describe the present." Her tone is a touch more firm. "How have you come to be here?"
no subject
Though Emet-Selch could easily excuse this as a normal and even expected reaction to his sudden and clearly unwelcome presence, he's left to wonder if this one has also witnessed his defeat. For it would perhaps lend a deeper meaning to her words. That, and it would hardly be the first time. The third, more like.
"How, you ask. The same way you've come to be here, I'd imagine. Did I not mention I've a penchant for naps?"
And, by way of being slightly more helpful, he adds: "If individuals from worlds scattered throughout existence can be brought together to share in a singular dream, what difference, then, is time?"
no subject
Her guard is not lowered despite being so... non-hostile. There were points in the past where he showed such nonaggression. It doesn't mean such a front would last. "A more direct answer, if you will."
