✵ TEST DRIVE MEME ✵
Reminder that our Test Drive Memes double as an Intro Log and threads can be carried over in-game. They are also required for samples. Refer to the Game Info for general information and feel free to toss any TDM related questions here. Reserves open on August 25th and Applications open on September 1st. Our application cycles are bi-monthly so the next cycle won't be until November.
I. WELCOME TO SONGEREIN

A. Magic Journals. Everyone will find a journal stylized just for them on their person somewhere and it's the primary means of communication with everyone. The only limitation is that it's text only, but images can be magically imprinted on the page from the writer's mind. Might as well give it a whirl and see who all is out there.
B. Dreamotion Abilities. Although everyone maintains most of their original abilities while in Songerein, they are also capable of using special abilities based on dreamotion energy. From having their emotions affecting the environment to utilizing new abilities entirely, it's probably something that they should start familiarizing fairly quickly. Especially since all the emotional surprise and confusion may already be affecting things, such as random glass shattering or cracks forming at one's feet.
C. Exploring Town. The town of Reverein is small but still sizable, so walking around and to see what all there is might be a good idea. The town is empty of any other people and it's relatively safe aside from most of the buildings looking like they're about to collapse in on itself, but there are a few small fae and small wild critters who have made a few nests so just watch your step—or head. Some could venture out to the farmlands and beyond...but anyone who gets too close to the Wildlands will encounter a tapir who will tell them to go back for now. Be warned if anyone tries to ignore and push past them.

There are three different types of teas available:
Rainy Morning. After drinking this tea, one might feel a little melancholic or nostalgic for something from their past. They might even have a short little daydream of a distant memory.
Summer Afternoon. This tea will make anyone feel more vigorous and joyful. So much so they might start shining like the summer sun itself! Any dreams influenced by the tea will be one of a happy occasion or a hopeful dream.
Autumn Evening. Brewed with special strong, herbal spices, this tea has a bit more of a kick to it, but it's also warm and is great for calming nerves while giving just enough of a confidence boost to get through whatever difficulties lie ahead. The dreams influenced by this tea will reflect when the drinker has been their bravest.

Although it doesn't always happen, sometimes the tea will be a strong enough influence that it will make the drinker daydream for a bit. Anyone nearby may notice their dream crystal lantern flicker and catch a brief glimpse of the daydream on it. Or perhaps those who want to try out their dream crystal lanterns are deliberately trying to see if their dreams are captured. Only daydreams influenced by the tea can be caught and even then it's just a brief glimpse, but it's still an interesting way to see how the dream crystal lanterns work.
Note: There is no currency in the world and everything served is free at this time. However it might not be immediately obvious and the fairies won't mind if customers repay in some way, be it helping out via cleaning and serving, giving gifts such as flowers or fruits, or something else.
II. HOME IMPROVEMENTS
The entire town is in need of a massive fixer upper, but one of the first areas everyone will likely want to start is the residential area to figure out their new homes. Instead of houses, most of the homes are in the trees. Be it a treehouse or carved into the tree itself, various dwellings can be found. Unfortunately, there are some unwanted guests making a mess of things, so they will need to be cleared out.

B. A Little Pruning. The trees themselves are a little...testy in large part of the bugs that have been chowing down on them. After the bugs are cleared they will calm down and become more passive, but until then everyone will also have to beware of wild swinging branches, rotten fruit falling, and roots suddenly springing up from the ground. Another way to appease the trees is cutting out some of the old, rotten wood and giving the trees some pruning, especially any vines that are choking some to death. Positive dreamotion energy will also help revitalize the area.
C. Tidying Up. Once the area is clear, the new residents can start cleaning up and repairing the different houses there. From repairing walkways connecting the trees, to the stairs and ladders that lead up to the treehouses, to decluttering and repairing the buildings, there's a plethora of work that needs to be done.
III. DREAMSCAPE TUTORIAL
To help everyone understand their dreamwalking abilities, the tapirs will ask anyone who is willing to gather around the Dream Swings in the Central Plaza. There anyone is invited to sit in the chairs or hammocks and focus on their dream crystal lanterns to enter a special dreamscape made just for them. Those watching might find the sight of everyone suddenly turning into a colorful ball of light and disappearing alarming, but that's just the normal process of entering a dream. When someone leaves the dream, they will briefly reappear as that light before returning to their original form. The theme for this dreamscape is Spooky Forest and it first starts in a pumpkin patch before moving to a dark, fog filled forest.

B. Festive Candy Hunt. At some point the tapirs come in and ask the dreamwalkers to try and change the spooky forest into something a little more festive. They are given free rein to change the environment in how they see fit. Of course, this means the dreamwalkers need to figure out how to focus their energy and imagination to make those changes. Perhaps starting small by adding decorations or changing the colors of the leaves is a good starting place. But there may be some difficulty as some rogue candy is messing things up and getting in the way. Capable of movement, they will dash, roll, and even fly to evade capture. They will also try and defend themselves using special "attacks" based on what they are. Chocolate will make melted chocolate puddles, taffy will make sticky traps, bubble gum will try and encase people in a sticky bubble—might want to avoid the giant jawbreaker as it's more of a bodybreaker. Fortunately once caught, the candy will change to its more normal form. Maybe altering the environment could work to their advantage. If successful in either decorating or catching the candy, there will be some kind of reward later.

Pest Control
I've been observing their behavior and noticed they're quite fond of the fruit.
[And if she looks around, there's a five-inch tall froglike being standing on a tree stump looking up at her, arms folded neatly behind his back. Like a tiny little professor.]
Should be useful in luring it away.
no subject
Oh - I'm sorry -
[ she was surprised!! elsa approaches the stump, while the beetle continues its.. beetling, unbothered. ]
Was that you? Fruit, you said?
no subject
[He points at some of the fruit that's lying on the ground.]
Take some of that and hold it out to the beetle. You should be able to lure it to follow you.

[ Nanako has gotten pretty experienced with emotional magic herself by now, but stepping in to see the way this girl twirls the magic around her like a beautiful dance is probably the most amazing thing Nanako's ever seen in her life. her eyes are wide with awe as she turns in a circle taking in everything in delight. ]
It's so pretty!
[ Of course, she turns back around just in time to see that unfortunate splat! and she... she shouldn't laugh. She really shouldn't.
She's totally laughing. ]
Oh no! Are you okay? [ She still manages to sound a little concerned, despite having dissolved into giggles. ]
no subject
it also brings with it a pang of uncertainty. elsa, after all, once hurt a little girl very badly with her powers, and she cannot help the twinge of guilt and the momentary hesitation - maybe she should stop before someone gets hurt - but no. she's learned so much since then.
anyway, none of it matters once the chocolate splatters in her face, grinding her magick to a halt. ]
Oh, you think this is funny, huh?
[ she says, while wiping the chocolate from her eyes with both hands, leaving her looking like some kind of strange reverse panda, but quick as a bolt she leans forward to smear a fingertip of chocolate right onto nanako's nose!! ]
no subject
It is kinda funny! Besides, it's chocolate! Chocolate is yummy, at least. [ How could anyone be upset about chocolate?
Although she does swipe her finger against her nose to collect the chocolate and squint at it a moment. ]
...Is it real chocolate?

Hmmm, I'm thinking the Summer Afternoon tea would be good. I bet it's sweet and fruity.
If you like that kind of thing. Which I do.
[Hilda smiles at the woman next to her and rocks on her heels a bit.]
Wanna share a pot?
no subject
That sounds delicious..
[ though chocolate might be her favorite, elsa won't turn down anything that seems sweet tasting, so she nods primly, her hands folded in front of her. ]
I would love to, if you're willing.

You have any pastry preferences? They all look good to me, but I know some people can be pretty picky about flavors and all that.

And then he sees ice and Queen Elsa and shit.
Maaaaybe it's time to flee before she notices him. He has no doubt that this carefree picture of glitter and satin will twist into something else if they meet once again and to be quite frank, that isn't something he really wants to deal with right now.
...
Although, he can't entirely stop himself from greeting her. This is a dream within a dream or something of that nature, so this is probably the safest way to actually speak with Elsa again. Other than writing in those journals, of course.]
Queen Elsa, could I offer you a face towel? [Hans is definitely a good distance away from her, speaking just loud enough that he can be heard.]
no subject
it could have been anna, but noooo.
elsa cannot see him at first, for the chocolate in her eyes, but she recognizes that voice immediately, and freezes in place. rather than fear, however, it's anger that flickers to life in her breast. quickly, elsa flicks the chocolate from her eyes. ]
No, thank you.
[ she says, her voice steely, as she begins to wipe the chocolate now from her cheeks. ]
I hadn't realized you were here too.
no subject
I woke up here just like everyone else. Or is it falling asleep to this world? [He folds his hands behind his back, taking just a couple of steps closer to her, as if testing the waters. Soon, however, he diverts his attention to the decorations still glittering in the trees, almost like he's double checking they're still up there.]
I did not think we would meet again so soon, but you seem to be in high spirits. You've livened up this place.

pest control!
So far, every other moment has proven uneventful, he’s gotten to chat with some people here and there. Now, he pokes his head into another hollow and finds a woman trying to reason with a giant bug.
Cute. ]
Hey there. Need a hand?
[ Since the beetle seems disinclined to move. ]
no subject
except apparently the beetles can't talk. or they're ignoring her. so she'll have to find another way. elsa is tapping her chin in thought when another voice rings out nearby. ]
Do you have a better idea?
no subject
Charlie steps into the hollow, hands in his pockets as he considers the bug. It sure is a big one - it looks like someone small enough could use it for a mount, and though he knows none of them have changed size, it’s enough to make him feel like he shrank. ]
Food is usually a pretty big motivator. You know, when “please” doesn’t work.

So he's been walking around the treehouse settlement to check for people who appear to need help with theirs. And Elsa fits the bill, certainly.
He'll call up to her: ]
They don't take badly to being picked up, if it helps! Though if you're squeamish, you can bribe them with food. It just takes a bit longer.
no subject
[ that's a big beetle and she's not a particularly large woman!! she could certainly use her ice powers to.. nudge it along, but it might not appreciate that, and elsa hardly wants to risk hurting a harmless creature.
so, food it is. she casts her gaze along the forest floor, toward the fallen fruit. ]
Do you think this fruit would work?
apologies for this delay, I got busy!!
I'd say so. The one in my home even settles for particularly tasty leaves as my roommate discovered.
[ It is very specifically 'the one' because they've elected to keep it... ]
Maybe you could set a trail for it?

Festive Candy Hunt
It had taken a bit of time, but eventually he had figured out how to use this world's abilities to create sparkles of light floating in the air, like colorful stars that weaved between the trees.
Laughter gets his attention, though, and he turns just in time to see Elsa hit with chocolate. ]
Are you all right?
no subject
but elsa handles her humiliation with poise, at least, wiping the chocolate from her eyes so she can blink in his direction. ]
Well.. my dignity took a hit, I think, but I'm unharmed, thank you.
[ with her right hand, elsa attempts to conjure a small face towel. ]
This can be our little secret.
no subject
[ Reaching down, he scoops up some of the bits of ice that had been shaved off the path, folding the towel over them and pressing them into it so they would melt and dampening the towel a bit. ]
Hopefully that will make it a bit easier to clean up.
