I. Peppered Love

[ It's been a little while since Unnamed encountered the great and mighty Lord of the Goose, but since then he's been making the odd trip to Asura's garden to poke around and say hi ~~while giving Lord Swan A VERY HEALTHY BERTH~~. On this particular occasion he's been gifted a nice little bundle of devil peppers, which he takes with immense delight.

In his head, it works something like this:

Happy feelings = warmth and devil peppers = HOT AF, which = so much love.

So clearly the best way he can show his affection is by giving the people he cares about some aptly-named Devil Peppers.

If you're someone he's seen before, you can bet ur butt that he's going to call out and wave them down...right before he presents them with one of these bad boys ]

II. Flashcard Signing

[ One thing that Unnamed has been working on since his arrival is how to communicate--because that's hard when you're both deaf and undead. He started first with pictures in the journals, then again with sign language. Experience, however, has armed with the knowledge that not everyone understands Sign, so he's decided that his next step has to be reading and writing all those weird scribbles everyone always fills up their books with.

It has not been easy. His dexterity and fine motor skills are lacking at best ~~like ya do when you're not-quite-alive~~, but help has come to him in the form of The Best Mom Ever and his introduction to.....flashcards. Shigeru has helped him acquire a set marked with both sight words and signs to help him recognize what each word means, and he has been studying them furiously. He's even gone and dreamotion'd a couple of his own into existence with Shigeru's help, so on this fine day Unnamed can be found:

a) pouring over his flashcards as he spreads them out over ground and table alike;

or

b) rushing up to your character with a flashcard with the word 'HELLO' written on it and holding it out with The Most Enthusiasm Ever. ]

Auh!

[ He looks so proud okay, you don't even know ]

[ ooc; just a small reminder that Unnamed here is both undead and deaf but he is doing his best!! and he's got swanky new flashcards to prove it. So if your character is interested in a mini-sign language lesson, this is a good place for it :D ]

[ Shigeru's very excited and happy to see Unnamed so enthused and happy to have his flashcards. The energy is certainly infectious as Shigeru gives the other a happy wave and signs 'How are you doing today? Is there anything you need help with understanding?' The signs themselves are easy enough to learn, but Shigeru also wants to make sure the other understands what they mean too.

'I'm glad you look so happy, that really makes me happy too!' He almost feels like a proud parent?! Seeing the other work so hard these last couple of months has been really uplifting for his own goals too. ]

[ You know what? Unnamed is so excited to see Shigeru that when the other signs at him, he just drops his cards all over the ground in his haste to reply lmfdldsgs

"Yellow Glasses! Hi, I am good. I am practising but I don't have cards for..."

(He doesn't have any cards right now because they're all over the floor--which he finds funny and has to stop signing to clap a hand over his mouth to hide his silent giggling.)

"Sorry I dropped. I clean up! Happy to see Yellow Glasses too. I talked to lots of people with cards~" ]

[ Shigeru smiles brightly back at the other, seeing him so excited and happy to have his flashcards is really something. Shigeru can't help but laugh as he goes to help pickup those flashcards now strewn about the ground.

'I'm glad you're enjoying them. What cards would you like to make next?'

Well, what words would he like to learn next should be the question. ]

[ "Cards for eating and food," he signs. That topic has started coming up more and more, and just shaking his head and making a face doesn't really convey what he wants to. It's hard to say "I only like meat, raw meat is best, but cooked meat is also okay. Also: devil peppers."

Food isn't something he talks about, but other people seem to do it a lot for some reason. ]

[ Ah. Well, that makes sense, since the topic is quite popular for people to talk about. Getting to know your fellow dreamers does sometimes require the talk of food.

'That's easy enough! I can teach you all types of dishes and things. But...just raw meat?! It's that...not good to eat all the time?!' Unnamed?! Does he need to feed you a good and proper meal!!

'You should also be eating vegetables and grains and things like that!!' ]

[ Nooooooo mom why!! Unnamed watches those signs with a dawning sense of dread on his face until he just can't help it and starts shaking his head.

"No no no! Don't like...!"

Don't make him moooommmmmm ]

[ There's a prominent frown on Shigeru's features as he just puts his hands on his hips for a second or two.

'It's not good to not have a diverse diet, you know? You should try eating at least some different things. I guess these devil peppers are sort of like vegetables...'

But he still doesn't like it!! ]

[ Oh no...not disappointment. Don't do that at himmmm

"Eat lots of things!" he tries to reason. "Big meat and small meat and fish and...and..."

Well shoot, that's like three things. Is that a lot? It feels like a lot. ]

[ He's just worried?! Shigeru will ponder for a moment at the reply though.

'Well that's better than just meat the fish is good for you.' So at least there's that. 'Have you been making your food yourself? I can try cooking something up for you, you just have to ask!'

Shigeru is being a good mom and taking care of the kids!!! ]

[ Thank goodness for fish and their ability to pacify mom. SAVED BY THE FISH.

"Don't cook," he shakes his head. "Not like fire." And his world has been woefully lacking in electricity for a number of years. The most 'cooking' he gets is putting something in his mouth and hoping for the best.

"Yellow Glasses cook fish?" ]

[ FOR NOW. Mom is still concerned but he realizes that it's offputting for the other so he doesn't press it...too much.

'You don't? Hm, well, stoves and overs nowadays don't use actual fire you know? But I can definitely cook you some if you'd like? Put some seasoning on it and it's absolutely delicious.' ]

[ New words! Or, well. Shigeru has probably tried to explain ovens and stoves to him before, but it's still hard to wrap his head around without seeing one in action. So he just repeats the signs for those objects to himself.

"Yes please! I want fish from Yellow Glasses!"

COOK FOR HIM MOM he's all excited now ]

[ Shigeru's smile is absolutely beaming as he gives a thumbs up and a nod.

'I can do that, definitely! Are you hungry now? We can stop by the market and pick up some fresh fish and I can cook it any my place!' ]

[ "Yes please! We go together?"

Let's make this a family trip--and not just because he l o v e s to look at all the raw meat and fish and stuff through the store windows. Though that is a major bonus. ]

[ Shigeru nods before he turns and motions for Unnamed to follow him. Of course, this is after they pick up his index cards and put them away in a safe place for now.

'I can teach you how to say different foods while we're there too.' So it'll be a learning experience for the other as well. ]
