I. Peppered Love
[ It's been a little while since Unnamed encountered the great and mighty Lord of the Goose, but since then he's been making the odd trip to Asura's garden to poke around and say hiwhile giving Lord Swan A VERY HEALTHY BERTH. On this particular occasion he's been gifted a nice little bundle of devil peppers, which he takes with immense delight.
In his head, it works something like this:
Happy feelings = warmth and devil peppers = HOT AF, which = so much love.
So clearly the best way he can show his affection is by giving the people he cares about some aptly-named Devil Peppers.
If you're someone he's seen before, you can bet ur butt that he's going to call out and wave them down...right before he presents them with one of these bad boys ]
Ouuh, auh! Ih--ih!
[ Take it :D IT'S FOR YOU ]
II. Flashcard Signing
[ One thing that Unnamed has been working on since his arrival is how to communicate--because that's hard when you're both deaf and undead. He started first with pictures in the journals, then again with sign language. Experience, however, has armed with the knowledge that not everyone understands Sign, so he's decided that his next step has to be reading and writing all those weird scribbles everyone always fills up their books with.
It has not been easy. His dexterity and fine motor skills are lacking at bestlike ya do when you're not-quite-alive, but help has come to him in the form of The Best Mom Ever and his introduction to.....flashcards. Shigeru has helped him acquire a set marked with both sight words and signs to help him recognize what each word means, and he has been studying them furiously. He's even gone and dreamotion'd a couple of his own into existence with Shigeru's help, so on this fine day Unnamed can be found:
a) pouring over his flashcards as he spreads them out over ground and table alike;
or
b) rushing up to your character with a flashcard with the word 'HELLO' written on it and holding it out with The Most Enthusiasm Ever. ]
Auh!
[ He looks so proud okay, you don't even know ]

As Aether has been learning how to sign, he asks the boy what is he holding and this is when he's presented with the pepper. He understands the gesture (or at least he thinks he does) but smelling the pepper and giving it a critical look makes him wonder how spicy it is.
...Still, he signs a "thank you", even if his smile is a little uncertain.]
no subject
"A present for...you!" he signs, making a deliberate effort not to go too fast. "You eat. It's good!" A thumb's up will absolutely reassure the Traveller about the love-filled peppers. ]
no subject
Aether sighs a 'thank you', then gives the pepper a careful, small bite.
At first he doesn't feel anything, but it takes a couple of seconds for the spicy flavour to spread in his mouth and starts burning hot. Aether almost chokes and presses his free hand over his face. His eyes start tearing up too.
...It's too hot!]
no subject
Needless to say, that was not the reaction Unnamed expected. At first he thinks Aether is just touched by the amount of ~love~ within the peppers...buuut that very quickly changes when the poor blonde chokes and doubles over like he's about to die or something, whoops. ]
Ah--auh????

Not that he had any experience with that... really.
He's leaning against a wall when Unnamed runs over with his flashcard.]
Hello.
[Both spoken and signed, following the example on the flash card.]
no subject
--and then quickly flips through his deck of flashcards to prepare the associated cards, just in case. Some people have been well-versed or fluent in Signing when he'd first met them, and some...not so much. ]

Instead, he uses a bit of dreamotion to conjure up a pen and paper.]

Anyway, that's why Link is standing quietly near part of the residential district: where she is, he won't be far behind, though they both take great care to ensure that neither of them feels smothered in any way. And that's where Unnamed will find him. He starts a little when called out to, but manages to wave back as he gets closer. Uh...hi?
The, uh. The pepper is a surprise, though.
He takes it, curiously, then points at himself. Is this...for him?]
no subject
Auh!
[ He doesn't know Link well yet, but he had a ton of fun with the water balloons. So! Present for a new friend. ]
no subject
... And four, possibly due to point three, he can't bring himself to refuse.
Well. It was nice knowing you, world.
So it's with a grateful nod, and with full knowledge of his impending demise, that he takes a large bite of this bright red pepper, seeds and all.]

2-A
[He's minding his own business and going about his day when he sees the familiar zombie looking over...drawings? Drawings with familiar gestures on them. Toge's eyes widen in surprise, before he remembers when the zombie had tried to sign at him before. It's then that he decides to offer the zombie a little surprise.]
[He approaches the zombie and, if he isn't noticed, will tap on his shoulder. Then, silently, he'll lift his hands to sign one of the few signs he knows.]
['Hello.']
no subject
Here though? He gets to blink as he feels that tap on his shoulder and wind up wonderfully surprised to not only see Toge, but Toge signing as well. His expression lights up instantly. ]
Ouh...!
[ "Hi! Hi! You understand?" ]
no subject
[He pauses for a moment, then lifts his hands and slowly signs back. The signs for "Yes", "No", and "Learn"; hopefully trying to convey the meaning that he's not fluent, but trying to learn.]

Looking at the card though, she does, at the least, recognize it as Sign Language. So a quick glance at the card, Futaba will look back up and do her best Hello in Sign.]
I, uh, don't really know anything else, but I can see it on the card!
[And she'll point to it with a thumbs up following it.]
no subject
Auh.
[ YES GOOD. The cards are working. At least reading is a thing it seems most people can do (another reason to keep practising and learn it). He grins at her wave and shuffles around in his deck before presenting her with several more flashcards.
"Learn" and "read" come up as he points to himself, proud. ]
no subject
Ohhhh, heyyy, you got more of these? [Seeing which he's pointing to, she grins.] Good job! Can I see them?
[She'll point to her eyes, and then the flashcards, wanting to see what words he has in it as she asks about them... hopefully important ones like Featherman, of course!!!]

II. Flashcard Signing- B
Unnamed came from the left field, almost startling her when she sees him rushing in her direction. The card in his hand with the word hello. There's a brow raise. She parts her mouth and speaks, not sure if he can read her lips. ]
Did you write that?
[ Following a small smile from her. ]
no subject
[ He cannot read lips (yet), but he can try to infer that she is asking hiiiim...what the cards are? Where he got the cards? Or she's happy he has them. Some or all of the above!
Rather than search for the appropriate cards, he decides to demonstrate making them by holding one hand out palm-up and concentrating. It only takes a second or two for him to draw up the dreamotion energy required to materialize a new copy of the 'hello' flashcard. ]
Ouh!
[ Tadaaaaa ]
no subject
For that, she does wave, greeting him as well. Is that what he's looking for? Strangely enough, trying to communicate with individuals that are not verbal is a challenge to her. Halric was the same, but he could at least hear what she was saying. At least, she hoped he did then.
There's some overlap when she thinks about Halric, but the situations are completely different. She follows the hello with an "o" shape forming form her index finger and thumb, saying 'okay,' she understands. ]

Flashcards with mom!!
'I'm glad you look so happy, that really makes me happy too!' He almost feels like a proud parent?! Seeing the other work so hard these last couple of months has been really uplifting for his own goals too. ]
HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH SHIGERU you don't even know ;w;
"Yellow Glasses! Hi, I am good. I am practising but I don't have cards for..."
(He doesn't have any cards right now because they're all over the floor--which he finds funny and has to stop signing to clap a hand over his mouth to hide his silent giggling.)
"Sorry I dropped. I clean up! Happy to see Yellow Glasses too. I talked to lots of people with cards~" ]
ADORABLE ;_;
'I'm glad you're enjoying them. What cards would you like to make next?'
Well, what words would he like to learn next should be the question. ]

II-A. If this isn't okay, lemme know! (post-Imbalance Event)
[Emet-Selch has no interest in the upcoming festivities and no answers he can satisfactorily provide to those who witnessed the fracture and (rather ironic, all told) rejoining of his two errant halves that occurred within Madhuri's dreamscape. And so he wanders, looking for... something, or someone, or somewhere his presence is unlikely to lead to conflict or pity or long-winded explanations.]
[At some point, his feet lead him to a patch of ground scattered not with snow or detritus but what appear to be cards and a familiar undead boy studying them intently.]
[Emet-Selch has discovered (thanks to their game at the beach) it best to refrain from popping in and out, so instead he walks around the pile so that he can be viewed head-on and kneels slowly. His hair is wavy and white, but otherwise he looks much the same as always - including the all-too-familiar "grumpy" expression ever-present on his face.]
[He lifts a hand to sign.]
Learning a lot?
[And after a second of thought, he touches his own chest, gestures, and begins to spell E-M-E-T-S-E-L-C-H.]
this is A-OK<3
"Yes! Learning..." His hands pause halfway through forming the sign when he looks up and notices the change in hair colour. He blinks. Tilts his head, and points to Emet-Selch's hair.
"White?"
You need to explain this first, he hasn't seen anyone's hair randomly change colour before
hair dye is still a thing of mystery to him]no subject
["Yes." Firmly, and with a weary nod of his head.]
["It was white when I was younger. Like you. I wanted to change it, so I did. With magic." A moment of thought, and then: "Much like the moving pictures I made before at the theatre."]
[Not entirely true, but it should at least get the basic idea across. It was a choice, to be sure, and one in which dreamotion and his own capabilities were both spun together in order to make it happen - at least for a while. Whether the change will prove permanent or revert back when he exhausts his focus is a mystery - one even more profound than hair dye.]
