I. Peppered Love

[ It's been a little while since Unnamed encountered the great and mighty Lord of the Goose, but since then he's been making the odd trip to Asura's garden to poke around and say hi while giving Lord Swan A VERY HEALTHY BERTH. On this particular occasion he's been gifted a nice little bundle of devil peppers, which he takes with immense delight.

In his head, it works something like this:

Happy feelings = warmth and devil peppers = HOT AF, which = so much love.

So clearly the best way he can show his affection is by giving the people he cares about some aptly-named Devil Peppers.

If you're someone he's seen before, you can bet ur butt that he's going to call out and wave them down...right before he presents them with one of these bad boys ]

II. Flashcard Signing

[ One thing that Unnamed has been working on since his arrival is how to communicate--because that's hard when you're both deaf and undead. He started first with pictures in the journals, then again with sign language. Experience, however, has armed with the knowledge that not everyone understands Sign, so he's decided that his next step has to be reading and writing all those weird scribbles everyone always fills up their books with.

It has not been easy. His dexterity and fine motor skills are lacking at best like ya do when you're not-quite-alive, but help has come to him in the form of The Best Mom Ever and his introduction to.....flashcards. Shigeru has helped him acquire a set marked with both sight words and signs to help him recognize what each word means, and he has been studying them furiously. He's even gone and dreamotion'd a couple of his own into existence with Shigeru's help, so on this fine day Unnamed can be found:

a) pouring over his flashcards as he spreads them out over ground and table alike;

or

b) rushing up to your character with a flashcard with the word 'HELLO' written on it and holding it out with The Most Enthusiasm Ever. ]

Auh!

[ He looks so proud okay, you don't even know ]

[ ooc; just a small reminder that Unnamed here is both undead and deaf but he is doing his best!! and he's got swanky new flashcards to prove it. So if your character is interested in a mini-sign language lesson, this is a good place for it :D ]

[ There absolutely are. He has a lot of cards for praise, since people tend to tell him what a good job he's doing. So now he can read those words and understand them well.

He grins upon receiving it from Alisaie, pointing to her.

"You read?" It seems most everyone does, but. He can ask this now, so he wants to. ]

[ There's a nod of her head. Given, that she grew up in such a well known household, reading and comprehension was a must. Growing up in the household that she did and admiring her Grandfather for so long.

She tilts her head again as he points to her.

A slow nod. ]

Yes. I read.

[ Excellent--he has been waiting for this. Unnamed sees her answer and then grins, rummaging for a particular card and then holding it up with bright eyes.

"WOW!"

(He loves this word.) ]

[ To her, the words look close enough that she can make out the basics. Paired with his gestures, it helped her understand the bigger picture.

She can't help but laugh a little at his "WOW!" What an energetic lad. She pulled a few cards "you," "like," and "word?" ]

[ This one he doesn't even need a card for; he just nods with exuberance. Three easy letters, big amazing meaning! Wow! Truly a most versatile word. It encompasses so many big, bubbly feelings. He can't think of a better word.

"I" "like" "lots", he spells out with the cards. "Word" "you" "like?" ]

[ Alisaie shifts the bag in her arm to her other one before picking some more cards, while half laughing. What an interesting boy. She isn't sure how he survived not drowning but she's relieved he's in good spirits and that she's catching onto his way of communicating. She thinks for a moment.

She thinks for a moment, before trying to materialize a word onto another card from her dreamotion. She shows it to him. The word on the card says

"Adventure."

Probably not her most favorite word, but it seems light hearted enough. ]

Ouhh...

[ Unnamed takes a moment to peer through the pile of cards used and snatches up the one he's looking for as soon as he sees it.

"New" "word". "What" "mean"?

He's never encountered 'adventure' before. It's a long word--it must be important! ]

[ Alisaie thinks for a moment. There's a lot of things she could say, but not sure how much of it will make sense to him. A flick of her fingers and the "adventure," on the card she shared with him changes to "traveling."

Does that make sense or how about "seeing" "the" "world?" ]

[ That...is a really neat trick. Unnamed wants to try that--he never thought about changing his flashcards like that! Although...if he doesn't know how to print the hand signs like Shigeru's been doing, that may not be so helpful. Hmm.

He puts that aside for now and looks at the cards she's produced. He knows "see" rather than "seeing", but he assumes it's more or less the same thing? And he knows "world"! "The" is a little harder because sign doesn't use articles, but he can still infer the meaning of her cards. "See world." ]

Auh.

[ "I" "too" "like" he arranges quickly, nodding for emphasis. "Like" "world" follow, and then he'll use both hands to hold the word "here" nice and tall. This world is the best world!! ]

[ The more she spends time in this place, the more of a handle she has on its concept. She is quite proud of how her little trick worked out. She just needs to keep solidify more often in the future.

It takes time. Surely, but gradually, she believes.

She laughs a little. Of course, he likes the world. She can't imagine how difficult it must be for him to communicate when he can't hear, read or write.

She tries again, while taking some of his cards to create another sentence. "You" "can" "adventure" "here," meaning that he can have his own adventures here, since he likes the world so much! ]
