[open!] you're only everything I ever dreamed
Who: The Kingdom Hearts cast + You!
Which: Open Log!
Where: The collection of treehouses that the cast has made! And other areas!
What: An open log for residents and adjacent CR to come and go. Top levels inside!
Warnings: tba!
[Now that the residents of Songerein are settling in it seems that a group of uncanny key kids (and a few others) have come together to make a nice little collection of connecting treehouses. The houses are dreamed up and put together with a patchwork of wooden bridges and boards and spruced up with fairy lights that glow and hang from the rafters. The treehouses are high in the canopies of thick trees and the balcony sections are open and breezy for any visitors to come to walk up the steps and see.
Down below the treehouses on the ground seems to be a rather flourishing garden of sunflowers. Where they come from or how they sprouted is still unclear. But it is joined with a rather chubby-looking chicken that pecks at the ground occasionally. Along with the grazing chicken, there seems to be a whoosh of dragonfly wings as a large dragonfly has taken to the treehouse as a home too. And what is this? It seems they might have a small collection of blue birds that won't leave the house alone. What other creatures are out and about?
Dreammotion energy seems to be strong around the treehouses. As the trees house a collection of boys with vivid and wild imaginations. Sometimes lights will flicker brighter or plants will bloom with various strange flowers. And the smell of baking chocolate and cookies is always in the air.]

B
so when he sees the pieces of pot, soil, and the sad little plant that sits in some of more hardened dirt and the boy who made the mess?
he can feel the frustration. )
Vanitas.
no subject
Though he hadn't been expecting it in this moment. Vanitas bristles. Turns, looking more put out and frustrated than ever. ]
What?
[ He doesn't mean to snap. But angry! ]
no subject
Plants take time, don't they?
( slowly, he moves over to the broken pot and starts to gather the entire mess into a pile. )
... I don't think I can do anything myself. So, the traditional way to grow this plant big and strong is the only way. Right?
no subject
I wasn't trying to grow the plant, Lio.
[ Van huffs in frustration... His own Darkness rippling around him. ]
Rather, I was practicing healing it.
no subject
Healing it...
( that makes him turn his head slightly to the side in curiosity. obviously, whatever van was trying to must've been unacceptable to him, but to what extent? the plant certainly didn't look healthy, but that doesn't mean... )
... well, you can't expect to be perfect right away with magic. Right?
no subject
[ Okay, he had moderately struggled with healing magic but that's because he had a hard time thinking of happy things at first. As time passed that had sort of changed... ]
What I can't figure out is why I am unable to do it here.
no subject
( and lio is incredibly thankful for that. besides--- much like how lio's external changes are obvious, it must be the same for those who weren't monsters. right? )
So maybe you have to restart from the beginning. Just like the rest of us.
( except he doesn't expect to suddenly have wings burst out his back. he doesn't expect to wake up preening in a nest.
and so what might be a relief for him may not be the same for his friend. )
no subject
[ And he can still use magic! Unless it... Is somehow different? Unless Cure Magic back home is different some how. Vanitas wouldn't have thought so.
But maybe he needs one of those guardians of Light to explain it to him. ]
Whatever...
no subject
Why don't you try casting it on me, instead of a plant? At least you'll know if it's working properly, and I'm not in the business of lying.
( a soft smile and the burnish makes a soft sound in the back of his throat. )
no subject
However, there's something about it that's distasteful. For Vanitas that is - ]
It would require an injury. You know that, right?
no subject
( lio shrugs, smiling lopsidedly. he points down to his leg and toward his knee, where he looks away to avoid vanitas' future judging stare. )
I banged up my knee. It's a little bruised and sore, but I can still walk on it.
( and before van can say anything--- )
It was an accident.
no subject
You say it was an accident, but the emotions that you are giving off are telling me otherwise...
[ Why are you embarrassed and avoidant? ]
no subject
( said nonchalantly, as if this were some kind of common thing that lio tried to do. but if he were speaking to anyone but van (and a few select others that knew him)... )
I thought maybe I could. So when I ran as hard as I could and jumped forward...
( lio laughs, but it's a short and cut off noise. mostly out of embarrassment. )
At least I didn't skin it.
no subject
[ Vanitas cuts himself off. Groans and rubs at his face. Normally that wouldn't really be a cause for any thing close to concern. Stupid guy had been something like part bird. But Lio isn't here so it seems nonsensical to try something like that. ]
How high, stupid? How high were you?
no subject
( he's not that stupid! he's exploring his surroundings using the powers that he thinks he had. that he thought he had. lio is quick to raise his hands up in front of himself defensively, shaking his head. )
... I could fly back home, too. Using my fire.
no subject
[ Fingers tap on the countertop. He huffs. ]
Can you think of a reason that it wouldn't be working?
no subject
( even now when he rolls his shoulders, he can almost feel that slight weight. that wariness to not bump into things. the ability to sort of bundle himself using those feathers, some soft and some stiff. )
Maybe it's a lack of confidence? A lack of using that strength for so long... after all, it was missing for a year or so.
( he frowns and sighs. at least he's comfortable enough around van to admit that. )
Doesn't feel right.
no subject
[ A shrug. Looking bac at the now somewhat destroyed plant. Frowning at it. Yes, he knows Lio well enough to - ]
Not all of my abilities are really working right either. So there's that.
no subject
( he can still feel the fire. it burns inside of him, wanting him to return to his former glory--- blazing and bright. )
... so, do you still want to try to patch me up?
no subject
Go and sit down. I'll be around in a minute after I clean this up.
[ Meaning the dirt and shards of the pot on the floor. Vanitas isn't really going to just leave this around for someone else to deal with. Then he'll walk back into the living room to tend to Lio. Because he can at least try this out. ]
no subject
and he sits down in a chair, already moving to pull up his pants leg to reveal the large and dark colored bruise just below his kneecap. it certainly made it hard to walk at times, but... )
... could've been much worse. Just saying.
no subject
It's not the worst I've seen. Just that it kind of feels stupid how you got it.
[ Vanitas takes a deep breath. Holds his hands against that leg. Focus. Happy thoughts. Positive ones. See how the body should knit itself together... ]
no subject
memories from here... seeing vanitas for the first time, away from their shared nightmares. them fighting off those goblins. they resonate with him.
and so that bruise? it starts to turn a little yellow, fade at the edges. what looked a lot bigger moments ago shrinks into something smaller and more the size of a coin... )
no subject
Or, something that actually motivates him more than a plant. ]
It's not the best job I've done. But it doesn't look like you'll lose that leg.
no subject
Well thank goodness. Don't know what I'd do if I lost my leg and couldn't get around without wings... it'd make moving around pretty hard.
( all in all? it feels much better. walking back to his treehouse won't be an issue. )
... you didn't lose your touch, Van. You'd never let that happen.
