Who: The Kingdom Hearts cast + You!
Which: Open Log!
Where: The collection of treehouses that the cast has made! And other areas!
What: An open log for residents and adjacent CR to come and go. Top levels inside!

[Now that the residents of Songerein are settling in it seems that a group of uncanny key kids (and a few others) have come together to make a nice little collection of connecting treehouses. The houses are dreamed up and put together with a patchwork of wooden bridges and boards and spruced up with fairy lights that glow and hang from the rafters. The treehouses are high in the canopies of thick trees and the balcony sections are open and breezy for any visitors to come to walk up the steps and see.
Down below the treehouses on the ground seems to be a rather flourishing garden of sunflowers. Where they come from or how they sprouted is still unclear. But it is joined with a rather chubby-looking chicken that pecks at the ground occasionally. Along with the grazing chicken, there seems to be a whoosh of dragonfly wings as a large dragonfly has taken to the treehouse as a home too. And what is this? It seems they might have a small collection of blue birds that won't leave the house alone. What other creatures are out and about?
Dreammotion energy seems to be strong around the treehouses. As the trees house a collection of boys with vivid and wild imaginations. Sometimes lights will flicker brighter or plants will bloom with various strange flowers. And the smell of baking chocolate and cookies is always in the air.]

So she doesn't think of that other world as she smiles lightly but without meaning to, then widens it at his assurance that he's of similar mind about their present surroundings. With a hint of a laugh in her voice at his phrasing, ]
It was that simple, huh...?
[ The description on the note certainly sounded that way. Still, Naminé's ever the cautious one - more so now than she might have been before. A touch wistfully, ]
Is it just like you remember it? The board, and skating...? [ Seeming to realize that might sound like an odd question, ] Since this is a dream world, after all.
[ One has to wonder if the laws of physics still apply the same way. ]

[He nods, letting out a small chuckle.]
Yeah, it was that simple. I just had to think about it, and it was the first thing I decided on. And it feels just like the skateboard I would use back in Twilight Town, so I think it's pretty much the same.
[At least, even if this were a dream, it doesn't operate much differently than a real-world skateboard.]

Well, that's good news. You don't have to relearn anything that way.
[ Leaning back in her place slightly, she muses aloud, ]
Drawing isn't quite the same here as it was before. I still like to do it, but sometimes it's easy to think too hard about what I'm picturing, and it just sort of-- leaks.
[ Although that might owe itself in part to her natural affinity for changing things around her, in a dream world especially. The medium of hand-drawing itself might even be a bit archaic by comparison, but she's not doing it because it's the most efficient option anyhow. Looking contemplative, ]
I haven't decided yet what I should I ask for. I guess... it seems like I should choose really carefully, in case there are no other chances later on.

[It would be so strange if he had to relearn how to skateboard. But Roxas blinks in surprise as Naminé explains her own struggles.]
Wait... leaks?
[Oh boy... did her drawings somehow affect this world?]

[ Naminé makes a soft noise of agreement to his first comment, then straightens up slightly when she registers his surprise. Were it someone else, perhaps she'd be more self-conscious about discussing anything tangentially related to her powers - but he already knows she's a witch, and it wouldn't feel right to skirt the issue. ]
I-- might have turned part of my desk white when I was concentrating on a sketch the other day.
[ On a memory, on a moment in time, on a place that wasn't there - just enough to close the gap between those things a bit by accident. She's always been able to twist reality around her to some extent, if only with illusions, but when everything is a dream to begin with, and therefore more malleable to everyone, including herself... accidents happen, apparently. ]
After a while I gave up on trying to fix it and made the rest of the wood the same color.
[ Sheepish, she regards him, briefly debating whether to even ask, ]
Has... anything like that happened to you? After all, you guys did set up this whole place.
[ Although there's a difference between doing that kind of thing by accident and doing it on purpose. ]

[Oh dear... that would be a bit of a shock, wouldn't it? He scratches the back of his head.]
That must have been a surprise... Did it only happen to your desk?
[He's reminded of that room she resided in, all completely porcelain and white... had that accidentally happened to her? He could see how she would be shocked by that, and probably a little put-off as well... Neither of them had particularly fond memories of that room.]
[He is glad that she is moving on somewhat, and he nods.]
Yeah, there were a few things that happened. It wasn't too bad, but Sora could get... a little excitable. So there would be a lot of bursts of light like fireworks.

[ A surprise, that is. Her brows come together with her wry smile and the faint tip of her head as she adds a rueful, ]
But-- no, not exactly. The desk was just the worst of it.
[ in response to his question. The quiet exhale that follows it sounds a tiny bit resigned. Belatedly, she admits, ]
Actually, I did something like that to the street when I first arrived. And a-- few of the old buildings, too. Only that time, it was because I was... afraid, instead of thinking too hard.
[ She's still trying out these words, these supposed feelings. They don't fit in her mouth quite right, but they're worth exploring just the same. Her expression grows warmer at the mention of fireworks and the excitable (junior?) hero. ]
That does sound like Sora. Are those flowers downstairs there because of him, too...? [ They certainly gave her that feeling, but she'll still inquire, with the barest hint of humor, ] Or do all of you feel sunny now that the hard work is done?

I did something like that when I first got here, too. It wasn't because I was afraid, but it was a surprise to me. [He can't help but frown, giving her a concerned look.]
It... wasn't easy for you, was it? Coming here?
[He doesn't like the idea of his friend being in distress, even if this world turned out to be rather peaceful for the most part. It makes him sad to hear she was afraid enough to manifest the dreamotion magic here, but at least she looks better now.]
Heh, well... I think it's a bit of both, probably. It felt good knowing we were finished all our work. And honestly, I think being in a place that's a lot calmer is just nice for all of us.

No. It wasn't. Not until I could accept what was going on.
[ What she hopes is going on, what she still thinks might be too good to be true. Her body language is sedate as she adds, almost tiredly, ]
But it was much easier to come here than it would have been to stay where I was before.
[ It feels a bit like a confession, given how much she's tried to keep the particulars of her previous world close to the vest. Her smile thereafter is careful as she focuses on his other words instead. ]
I'm sure it is. It's been such a long time for all of you since life was peaceful. [ And for Naminé too, for that matter; but she remembers herself in time to tack on a slightly retractive, ] That is, it has been from my perspective. I suppose maybe some of you had a while to get used to it before you wound up here.

Yeah. I saw something that made me laugh, and all these weird lights appeared around me. It reminded me of little sunsets.
[And sometimes, when he gets that warm and fuzzy feeling inside him, those twinkling twilight lights will burst into light around him. Not as vibrant and shining as Sora's little sunbursts, but something warm and comforting all the same.]
[As he listens to Naminé, a small frown forms on his face. A part of him wants to respect her wishes and keep his distance from that info about that other world, but... it's clearly affected her. So he can't help but ask...]
...it was really that bad, huh? That other world?
[He leaves it open for her to decide how much she wants to divulge, but he's genuinely curious as to what it was Naminé went through. But he wants her to know that, when she's ready, she could confide in him. He's also willing to leave it be, though, and he nods at her other words.]
Yeah... well, from my perspective, we did get a bit of time to get used to that peaceful lifestyle. That is, before Sora, Vanitas and I got swept up in that other world.

Really? [ She's trying to imagine it; Naminé can guess at how a supernatural occurrence like that might look, but it just isn't the same. Wistfully, ] I wish I could have seen it. It must have been beautiful.
[ As would have been being part of such a moment in the first place. For all that Naminé has experienced so much of the worst of life, she's far more preoccupied with seeing her counterpart happy than actually being so herself. She'd have liked to observe whatever it was that gave Roxas such a hearty chuckle.
Although laughter doesn't linger on her mind long when there's another matter at hand. The girl's good mood quiets with Roxas' frown; she wants to avert her eyes, but she can sense the question coming before he speaks it aloud, and so she waits, regarding him silently until he asks. Then, with a small nod, she finally lets her gaze fall. In a word; ]
Yes. [ There's no doubt in her voice, though it might rasp in the softness of its volume. ] It was.
[ The blonde's hands clasp each other more tightly, the outward sign of her recollected discomfort that shows no matter how much she tries to school her face into neutrality. ]
When I first arrived here, I thought-- [ As much as she begins to regret the admission partway through, there's no holding it back now. She swallows her falter and goes on with, ] -- That surely it had to be a trick. The people who controlled that other place, they... they played a lot of cruel games with us.
[ So it wouldn't have been beyond the pale for Reverein to be another one; maybe that explains her reaction more than anything else she's said does. As much as she gets the feeling Roxas won't press her for information, Naminé was the one who said they'd talk about everything one day, wasn't she? She hadn't meant this, specifically, at the time, but... perhaps, if she ought to tell anyone about it, she ought to tell him.
In her reluctance, though, she focuses on that last part. There's some small measure of relief in her, ]
Then I can't be jealous. If that's going to be my future, too, I... [ She hopes. She hopes it's true, that all of this will really play out in such a way that she'll see this bright, wonderful, real life she's been promised someday. In the meantime, ] I'll just have to be happy for all of you.
[ She would be whether she believed she'd get to partake in it or not. ]

[Who's to say? If this world manifests emotions, it's possible she'll see it for herself sometime.]
[But Roxas listens carefully when Naminé offers that small bit of information to him. His expression falls into a frown, and he lowers his gaze for a moment. He's... angry on her behalf. Even just hearing what little she's offering, it sounds like she's been through so much. He lets out a small sigh, a fist closing at his side.]
...I'm sorry you had to go through what you did.
[Anger creeps into his voice, and the air around them gets a little warmer than before. But it doesn't last long, not when Naminé was moving on, and when he's reminded of the happier times that awaits them all. So as that anger passes through him, he nods, offering a smile.]
Yeah. It's... I know it sounds weird, but you gotta believe me. It gets better for all of us. Even you.

I suppose it's not something you can do on purpose.
[ Not if the emotion behind it is meant to be real. Which is a powerful thought all on its own, but Naminé has to neglect it as she watches Roxas's reaction to her words. It's not hard to read the expression on his face, and her eyes linger a moment on his closed fist, her own features quietly mournful - although that's more because of his discomfort than her own. Though she shakes her head, she holds out little hope that he'll be discouraged from his anger. After all, if their positions were reversed, she'd be no small amount upset on his behalf. ]
It's over for now, [ she attempts to soothe along with that turn of her head, voice sedate. ] After everything that happened, I'm just grateful to be here with all of you instead.
[ And she'd prefer the situation to stay as such, even if she's always left wondering how long this respite will last, or whether she's really escaped that place for good. ]
But... thank you. [ That seems like it needs to be said; there's appreciation in her look up at him that's echoed in her voice. ] For caring what happens to me.
[ Because it'd be callous not to acknowledge that, no matter how unbelievable it still might feel to her when anyone else around her takes an interest in her well-being. There's proof enough in his reaction; even if they haven't spoken as much as she'd like, they're connected by the nature of their existences just the same. Of course they ought to look after each other, since that's the case.
Just like they ought to leave that other subject behind, she figures. A wan smile curls her mouth again, only halfway deliberate, and she says, ]
I do believe you. [ She believes in his honesty, anyhow. Her eyelids flutter in a couple of blinks before she admits, a touch hesitantly, ] It's just... so hard for me to imagine inside my head. How it would be to be able to go where I like, do what I like - to have friends without wondering if-- if I'll really be able to be one back to them.
[ She's managed some of that on a smaller scale here, but that's not quite the same. She's been stuck in cages all her life, truthfully; this is just one of the bigger, more pleasant ones. There are bars just the same, even if they're harder to see. ]

Well, of course I care what happens to you. You're my friend.
[Roxas was never one for complex machinations or schemes. He was pretty straightforward in his approaches, and this was no different. She's a friend, and he cares about his friends. It's as simple as that.]
[Roxas lets out a small hum, frowning a bit. He can understand her hesitance; she doesn't have the same experiences he has, the same memories back home as he does. If their positions were switched, he'd be just as suspicious and disbelieving. He brings a hand up to his chin in thought.]
Yeah... I just wish there was a way to show you. Maybe it would be easier to see it than just hear about it...

-- Right, [ she replies with the exhale, then echoes a softer, ] Of course.
[ And of course she knows Roxas has never been one to try to curry favor. His kindness is honest; there was never any doubt of that. Still, to be granted such a title is in itself an additional blessing.
Whatever her other considerations, Naminé glances up at him following that last comment. She already looks like she has something to tell him, though she does spend a moment or two waffling about it before admitting, ]
Maybe there is a way. [ One she could have brought up before, but held back due to her own concerns. ] If you're okay with it, I could look into your memories. Only--....
[ Here's her hesitation, and the reasoning follows shortly enough. ]
Since this is a new world, I can't say yet whether or not that kind of magic would work the same way here as it does where we came from. I'm afraid-- of what might happen if I were to hurt you by accident.

[Roxas blinks in surprise. A way to look at his memories..? Admittedly, a part of him pauses at that, because anything involving his memories always brings him pause; he's dealt with holes in his memory plenty, and he really doesn't like it. But this is Naminé. He knows that without outside influence, she really doesn't mean to harm anyone. And even with her suggestion, she herself shows some hesitance with it. It actually helps to reassure him a little, making him nod slowly.]
Well... I would like to show you, but I don't want to force you to use magic that might not work here.
[Still, he offers her a small smile.]
But... maybe if we find a way that we know will work in this world... I wouldn't mind showing you.

I wouldn't let you. [ Force her, that is; really what she means is, ] And I wouldn't dare to try it as things are now either, not without testing it first.
[ Yet since he'd mentioned what he wished he could do, it hadn't seemed right to hold back that information. It's a method, just not an ideal one. Seeing him smile, Naminé musters a hesitant one of her own that becomes a little more real after his last comment. ]
If we can find another way, then... I know I've already asked a lot of you, but I'd be really grateful. [ Smile growing a little wryer, she admits in the tone of an apology, ] After everything, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to ask you to do anything more for me.
[ Unfortunately, it didn't work out. ]

Yeah. I'd be happy to show you what it's been like.
[Maybe Sora might have more memories for Naminé to browse than he would, but maybe if they're coming from his memories, they'll have more weight. He really does hope they can find a way to show her how bright the future really is, even for Nobodies like them.]
And hey, don't think that just because we're both here, that means you can't ask me for help. I don't mind, really. And if it's too much for me to handle, I'll say so. Okay?

Then - thank you, whether it ever happens or not.
[ Just the thought is enough to be worthy of her gratitude. And it's true too that there would be a difference between seeing it through Sora's eyes and seeing it through Roxas's. Although either would be of benefit to her, the latter seems more appropriate. And at his comment about providing her with assistance, the lass seems a touch sheepish until the end, which prompts her to offer back an, ]
Okay. [ A beat, then, ] I'll trust you.
[ To let her know if she's asking too much, that is. Even if anything feels like too much, in the context of past events. Giving it a moment for that to sink in, she admits afterward, ]
You know, Roxas? You're a really good friend. I-- always hoped I'd be able to tell you so some day.

[And really, that's all they can do right now. Work on building that trust between them, slowly learning that things are okay in this strange dream world. It's small steps, but knows that, given time, things won't have to be so tenuous between them. They have quite the history, but now they have time to get used to one another again.]
[Roxas blinks in surprise at that, before his face softens into a smile.]
Ah... you think so? Thanks, Naminé. You're a good friend, too.

Her expression falters, yet she manages to hold onto the smile - more for his sake, but at least in part because she's flattered in an honest, moved kind of way. ]
I'll do my best to be, [ she promises, because if she's ever been one to him then surely it was her future self who did it, right? And this her will just have to put in the work. ] I'm grateful that you can say so.
