[OPEN] Thanksgiving in Reverein (2022)
Who: Anyone!
Which: Log, OPEN
Where: The Wild Harvest
What: Open mingle log for anyone wanting to attend the Thanksgiving dinner Alastor advertised on the journals the day before
When: Forward-dated to November 23rd between noon and 6PM
Warnings: None
Starting at noon and ending at six PM, The Wild Harvest had a few tables pushed together and covered by white tablecloths. Atop the tables were stacks of plates along with large serving trays full of food that had been promised in the invitation Alastor had put out the day before.
Also as promised, there were two extra tables added to the end, a stack of small slips of paper and a few pens. There was a little sign as well:
Please write your dish's name along with your own on one of the provided slips of paper. This way we can get any empty serving dishes back to their original owners.
Aside from the tables occupied by food, there were plenty of seats for people to sit down to eat at whether they wanted to mingle or to dine alone. A far nicer setup than the plaza the previous year.

Della Duck | Ducktales 2017
[ Well, just because Della was banned from touching the mansion's kitchen back home, didn't mean she couldn't cook here! Who needed complicated recipes when you just could trust your gut the whole way through?
That's why one dish is a... burnt, bubbling, blackened, sin against nature.
The notecard simply says I tried. Della.
If you look in her direction, she won't look back. Even if you haven't said anything, she's automatically going to say - ]
Shut up.
Eating Mingle
[ Della eats like there's no tomorrow. 10+ years on the moon with nothing to eat but black-licorice-flavored-oxygen gum has given her an appreciation for just about anything edible. It's also kind of removed some of her table manners, so you may hear some very unladylike belching every so often.
Even she needs breaks every now and then, opening her pilot's jacket when she feels bloated and resting her hands on her stomach. ]
Phewwww. Man, I'm gunna have to do exercise every second of of every hour to work all this off. I think even my beak is gunna gain weight at this rate.
Eating
Sitting near Della, Gina groans while taking her own break.]
Oi, I'm pretty sure I never ate so much in me life. But I still wanna 'ave even more... They ain't even brought out the desserts yet. [She gives a confused blink.] You... You alright?
no subject
[ get it. cause alastor's a demon. get it. do you get it. she nudges New Freind with her elbow, eyebrows wiggling. ]
no subject
...Wot's that like? Tasty? [She's never heard of the cake and doesn't really know the host of the feast. She lives upstairs!]
no subject
[ Aw, phooey. But if it's time to impart some food-ly knowledge, she won't hesitate! She will try to sit up straighter so she stops slouching, so she can give off a dignified appearance! ]
Anyway! Devil's food cake! It's like a chocolate cake, except with WAY MORE CHOCOLATE. It even has chocolate frosting! It's the ultimate chocolate experience! It's sinfully delicious, and that's why it's called devil's food!
[ That last thing isn't true, but Della is confident in her made-up knowledge. ]
no subject
"Drake Mallard thought it was funny" "Anyone but him"][Gina listens attentively, a spark in her eyes as she hears of this mythical devilish food.]
Oi!! Chocolate on chocolate... that sounds like it's gotta be the best treat ever if it's so packed full o' the stuff!! They better 'ave some 'ere now, I gotta try some for meself!
no subject
ANYONE BUT HIMDaw, happy child makes for happy Della. Now she's getting excited too. ]
If they don't have it here, we'll just have to make it ourselves. How hard can it be?
[ When does that last question ever end well for anyone? ]
no subject
Yeah, it's just a load o' chocolate, ain't it? It sounds like it shouldn't be too 'ard. You know about makin' cakes?
no subject
[ And technically she almost sent one of her children into a sugar-coma. ]
no subject
[After all, what could go wrong when it comes to putting together a cake? Susato makes it look so simple!]
C'mon now, let's check out the kitchen! [Although just getting up feels like an effort right now!]
no subject
[ After seeing the bloody mess he made of the bear-a-dillo, she's not too keen on getting on his bad side. ]
But maybe we can do it ourselves at my place later! That way we can make as big a mess as we want and no one gets mad about the clean-up!
[ She will be mad at herself later, but that's Future Della's problem. ]
no subject
[There's a rebellious part of her that wants to sneak in anyway. But considering that she lives herez she should be polite - and the host looks like someone she doesn't want to mess with. Especially after she's feasted on his food!]
Your place it'll 'ave to be, in that case! It'll be a second dessert! Or third, dependin' on 'ow much we pack away 'ere!
no subject
I'm already getting hungry again just thinking about it! It's been years since I was able to pig out like this!

Her Dish-aster
Good Creator and His loa, what the fu--]That is...unique-smelling.
no subject
... I made an effort, and frankly, I think that alone deserves appreciation.
no subject
[He's pretty sure the..."food"...has pretty much bonded to the dish at this point. They may have to burn it to cleanse the evil.]
no subject
Eh, I wasn't attached to that plate. Unlike the gumbo.
no subject
You were attempting to make gumbo? In a casserole dish?
no subject
[ Cut back to. The dish. ]
... Although I understand it looks more like a declaration of war instead.
no subject
[He holds up his forefinger and thumb just the tiniest width apart.] Little bit.
[He reaches up to adjust his monocle in an awkward attempt to buy himself time to think of what to say.]
Honestly, my dear, I appreciate the gesture, but gumbo really is the worst dish to start with when teaching yourself Creole-Cajun cooking. It's quite complicated even for experienced cooks. The roux that forms the base has to be just right. If it isn't, you have to toss it out and start completely over.
[He turns his head before reaching out to grab a nearly empty dish of what look like puffy dough pillows covered in powdered sugar.]
These might be a bit more your speed as a start. Try one.
no subject
It's like you grabbed a tiny puff of heaven! If I choked to death on this, I'd die happy! Then I'd come back as a ghost and try to eat more.
