what happens when two demigods are left unsupervised--
Who: Percy and Leo and anyone!
Which: open log and network post!
Where: they'll be in the plaza...arguing...
What: Percy's commissioned Leo to build a ship without knowing how extra Leo really is
Warnings: idk dumb teens
[Leo absolutely loved being needed, and when Percy approached him about making a boat, he hit the moon. Of course, he knew nothing he could create here would match the beauty of the Argo II back home, but he would do what he could to make this the second most awesomest boat in history.
He had told Percy to give him a bit to make some sketches and come up with a list of things he would need to make it happen, and he also needed to brainstorm about an actual workshop. He had been scouting places for one since he got here, but he was going to have to make a decision soon. It was hard to beat the Cabin 9 Bunker, though.]
Okay, here’s what I’m thinking. We can probably go half-size trireme, if there won’t be many more than just us two. You got your magical water powers, I got my amaze-balls captaining skills, so it’ll be a breeze.
[He shows Percy a series of crude drawings and sketches to make his point.]
I got a list of things I’ll need. I’d like a hella cool masthead like Festus was, but that may be out of the question here.
[...........Percy is already literally so overwhelmed.]
I just need a ship. That’s all. It doesn’t have to be…[he’s going to wave his hands around at the drawings.] Like this. Just something that won’t sink is fine with me.
[Leo just sighs and shakes his head.] Percy, Percy, Percy… You don’t know what you’re talking about. If we’re sailing, we need to sail in style. And also, we gotta be prepared for whatever’s out there! You don’t remember our quest together, we got attacked. Like, a lot. We need defenses, and catapults, and probably some really good sonar and radar equipment too.
[Percy rubs his face… he’s already so tired of getting hit with the “lol you don’t remember” thing, but he can’t really help it.]
I mean, you have me to handle most of all that. Some defensive things might not be too bad, but we really don’t need to go over the top with it.
[something tells him that he made a mistake in asking Leo for something like this–]
Bro, you don’t understand, I live over the top! And anyway, having you there didn’t stop Shrimpzilla, or any of the other dozen of monsters from nearly killing us and destroying the ship. I had to do so much repair work, it’s not even funny!
[Not that he minded the repair work, it kept him busy and not thinking about how Nemesis said it was the seventh wheel of the quest and feeling absolutely sorry for himself–]
You and Jason both had the major god fire power and we still got our butts handed to us. A lot. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about here.
[......................................
Percy’s just gonna sigh in an exasperated way.]
Anyway. What’s your list of supplies? Let’s just go ahead and see how much materials we can get before this gets out of hand.
[Leo hands Percy a list that looks like the following:
trampoleene
sound mixir
Wii controllors
sonar & radar stuff
fire exteequisher
back up fire exteequisher
wood (A LOT)
fire resestent faabrik
dragone (Festus perferd) ]
This is a start, anyway. I need a workshop before I can do anything, though. Otherwise I can’t do ‘nothing without tools and a good setup.
Right.
[Percy takes the list and squints. he never wants to hear Annabeth say that his spelling is atrocious anymore, because there’s almost no way that he can read what Leo’s even saying here. the words are swirling on the page, coupled with Leo’s bad handwriting…
his head hurts.
he sits down on the edge of the fountain and takes out his notebook and a pen (that isn’t Riptide), and lets the writing utensil hover the page for a bit.]
needs: wood
fire stopper
I don’t even know how to spell “fire extinguisher”, but I know that’s not it at all. The rest is…too much.
[Too much? Percy really hasn’t seen nothing. Leo rolls his eyes, then points to the list Percy’s making in the notebook.]
It’s not too much, it’s important! How else am I going to pilot the ship?? [There’s a thing called a steering wheel, Leo…]
Also, dyslexic, hello? I know you are too. Also also, thoughts on flight capabilities? I know Jason is the flying guy, so if we run into venti, we’re screwed, but if I get the right stuff, I can probably make something work–
No flight capabilities. Just a boat, Leo. Just. A. Boat.
[he’s so tired…]
hey so i found a guy thatll build me a ship but i need help gathering stuff
needs: wood
fire stopper fabric
the red canister thing to stop fires
[there’s about to be a DRASTIC change in writing here–]
ALSO I NED TRAMPOLEEN, WII KONTROLLRS, SOUND MIXIR, PROBS SOOM STRONGE MEDALS LKE IRON R TITANUM PLZ TY

ok thats enough of that just if i can get help with the first three things and maybe some metals itd be a start
[please assume that if your character tags into the log portion of this post that Percy and Leo will both be responding! if you want only one of them on the network and don't want threadjacking, just put that you only want Percy or Leo in the subject line if you tag in!

[He sighs again, scratching his head. Okay, so on the Argo II, weapons were out front and in the open, but maybe....]
If I tweak the size of the ship, I might can make any canons or catapults flip under the deck so they're not visible? Push of a button, then BAM, weapons. That's how my oars work anyway.
no subject
She turns to Percy once Leo is finished. ]
What do you think of that? That would certainly help with appearances if the weapons could remain hidden unless needed. And surely this world's dream magic can make up for where technology falls short.
...It still sounds like quite a lot of work, though.
no subject
If he's willing to put all the work into it, then I can't really stop him. But that'd work, I think. Plus people who can fight on the ship, and we'd have a good chance to anyone or anything that might want to attack us.
no subject
[He gets where Percy is coming from, and maybe it's because he's still new here, but he does not trust this to go peacefully.]
I just don't want us to get out there and get blindsided and have no way to defend ourselves. We're demigods, nothing ever goes easy or simple for us.
no subject
[ For a moment Susato just looks impressed at the way Leo speaks so casually about all of this, but then at the very end, she is given a casual reminder of who he and Percy really are. This is what it means to have the blood of a God running through your veins, she supposes...
...Or he just likes to build and tinker with things.
Speaking for herself, Susato has only ever taken things apart. ]
Well... He is not a demigod, that I am aware, but I do know someone who once found a home at sea. I met him in a dream, in fact, as a member his crew...
I wonder if he might have some ideas.
no subject
[he gives Leo a warning glance as if to say you at least should try it, before looking back to Susato.]
But I think Leo's starting to get on the right track, now. Are you going to come with us, Susato?
no subject
But between all the messages they've been getting and this conversation, he's so distracted by one singular thing.]
Hey, how come you don't use Riptide to write with, Percy? It's a pen, isn't it?
[SORRY THE ADHD IS KICKING IN.]
no subject
She's confused at first, but she can take a guess as to what Leo's referring to. ]
I didn't know it had a name.
no subject
he takes Riptide out, glancing over at Susato and nodding.]
Yeah, it has a name. It looks like a pen, but...it's a sword.
[he says it while wagging it in Leo's face.]
A better way to keep it close by instead of having a huge scabbard and stuff.
no subject
[Seems stupid to design something to look like a pen and then not even be useable!! Definitely not how he'd do it.]
Here, let me see it--
[brb he's trying to grab the pen out of Percy's hand while it's being wagged in his face.]
no subject
Ah, hold on, Leo, perhaps you should-- [ ask!!! ]
no subject
[Percy snatches Riptide away from Leo's grubby little hands and frowns, shaking his head.]
Don't just grab it!
no subject
Fiiiiine.. Percy, may I please see Riptide for just a sec?
[ya'll are killing him.]
no subject
Well? ]
no subject
he feels kind of fiercely overprotective of Riptide for this moment for some reason...]
Nah, I'm good.
[he almost looks like he's being an ass, honestly.]
no subject
Come onnnn! I'm not going to steal it! I'll give it back, I swear. I just want to look at it. It's not like I do swords, anyway.
[He was more of a hammer guy, but even then, his fighting skills were very limited.]
no subject
[ Watching Leo plead his case, she decides she wants to see it too. She's prepared for him to say no, but it's worth a shot— ]
May I see Riptide?
no subject
it's a dramatic silence.
then he smirks, and holds Riptide over to Susato to investigate.]
no subject
So he's just going to turn his attention to Susato because he is determined to prove Percy wrong now. He's not going to try to take it, but he's definitely going to lean closer and examine it.]
Have you ever, like....put the cap on the bottom? Cause putting the cap on the end of the blade turns it back to a pen, right? Just a thought.
no subject
When Leo mentions it though, she angles the pen so that she is looking at its cap, still safely secure over the tip. Does that mean removing it automatically turns it into a sword? Or does he have to will it so?
...She decides to give it a try! ]
no subject
but when Susato puts the cap on the other end, he frowns.]
What?? It is a pen!!
[duh]
no subject
BOOOO-YAHHHHHH!! LEO WINS AGAIN!! I told you it was a pen, and did you listen? Nope. And who was right? Me. Bam. Mic drop.
[Sorry, he gets a little obnoxious when he gets something right sometimes. And yes, he did imitate actually doing a mic drop.]
no subject
I have definitely seen it as both. [ Right? Like... She didn't dream the Hall of Mirrors, did she?
--don't answer that. In fact, don't mind her as she randomly turns to a page in her notebook to test out this pen. Does it write normally? ]
no subject
it writes, but the ink looks like celestial bronze when it flows onto the paper. just the color of course, not the metal itself. just pretty enough to be weird.
Percy's not going to comment other than giving Leo the side eye, but instead he's going to be looking over Susato's shoulder marveling on the fact that Riptide is a pen.]
no subject
I don't know why ya'll never believe me about this stuff. Magical weapons are totally my thing. Frank didn't believe me about his magical quiver either.
[shaking his head, when will his friends learn!!]
