Nice to meet you. My name's Nier. Just thought I should mention there's someone else here with the same name. He's much older than I am and that might be a little confusing. We're different people so I need to make that clear.
Anyway, there's a question that's been on my mind for some time now.
Do you think it's ever okay to tell a lie? I'd like to hear some thoughts because I sometimes wonder if the nightmares here are lies and illusions. They seem so real but sometimes they just aren't.
Back in my world there's something called the Deathdream and I don't know if anyone else has heard of that term before either.
Action Open
[Outside Nier can be found with a tool in hand. There's a toolbox nearby along with several logs of wood just lying around. He's busy trying to build a fence for the gardens. What he really wants to do is help the Corgis in what way he can. He spent most of his life growing up in a smaller village so it was necessary for him to learn various tools of the trade.
Beside him there's also a small patch of flowers growing by the soil bed. If you don't look too busy Nier might look over to your direction and start talking more.]
Do you have a moment? I could use some help watering the plants.

Good to see you again, Susato!! There's a lot of work for us to do today. I hope you've been well.
[Nier is trying to walk carefully around the area because there are a bunch of snare traps just lying around. It could be dangerous.]
So someone really did just left a bunch of traps outside. We need to do something about that. I'm going to do my best and see what we can accomplish today.
Wild card

action
She'd come by with the intention of seeing what needs doing, but it's not too surprising to find Nier here, as well. The Nier she'd known before coming to this place had a green thumb, too, and she offers this one a wry smile as she approaches the patch he's currently bent over.]
Sure, I can lend a hand. This is kind of like home, yeah?
[She's guessing that while he and the other Nier are different people, gardening was a life skill they had in common.]
action
[ It was common for them to work in the gardens and fields. Nier would spend his time cultivating plants or getting Mutton from the sheep. Life back home was hard but they were able to survive by helping each other out. ]
Want to know something? I've been talking to your friend, the other Nier. He's a good guy.
no subject
[She doesn't sound terribly surprised by that revelation, bending just long enough to pick up the watering can he'd left nearby. She's not much for gardening overall these days, but at least this much, she can do.]
He mentioned that too, at some point. Good to hear you're getting along.
no subject
[ Just more mysteries. Apart from having some really big questions concerning their existence, he really enjoys the company of older Nier. He's a hard working man with a kind heart. ]
Do you think there's any reason for it, Kainé?
no subject
[Just like this one was Yonah's brother— he was so passionate about it, she had no reason to believe otherwise, but it's true that the pieces don't add up the way they should if they were from the same village.]
I've got some theories. Don't know how good any of them are, but I don't think it's some accident that you guys never saw each other. That'd be a crazy fucking coincidence.
no subject
[ Kainé's memories are different from his own so it's not that far of a reach. ]
For some reason we both know the same people but we've never met before, yeah. You're right about that. It's too strange to be a coincidence. I wonder what it could all possibly mean.
[ But more importantly what it could all possibly mean for Yonah. Yonah is important to both Niers. That much is certain. ]
no subject
[She just wants to make that part crystal clear, before she says anything more.]
But— shit. There's a million different worlds people are from, right? Some of them are even kind of similar to one another. Or you've got shit like my meeting Tifa somewhere else before I came here, but she doesn't remember me. The way I see it, anything's possible. Doesn't seem to be any rules.
[She can't say she knows what that means, but:]
I trust my memories. The experiences I had with Nier. Maybe our worlds are— mirrored. Almost the same, but some of the story is a little different.
no subject
[ Nier really likes Tifa if it's any indication that he's got nothing but good things to say about her. ]
To hell with the rules! We're here now and that's that. I'm not good at understanding anything too complicated, but it's enough to me that you're alive. As long as we are alive we can keep moving. I trust both you and the other Nier.
no subject
Just taking it in stride as best I can. Don't think we're gonna get any definite answers either way, so I'm not about to waste time worrying about it.
[It is what it is, whether or not they ever get a full explanation. It wouldn't matter much, anyway— it wouldn't change anything.]
But... I appreciate the trust. I know it can't have been easy, showing up here and finding out I didn't know who you were.
no subject
[There's no one to blame for these occurrences. He keeps a stoic expression while speaking. Nier doesn't seem upset or bothered by it at all. ]
We're just managing and that's all we can really do. This world is strange so I'm sure that might be why we don't have any answers.
no subject
[She gives an amused snort without looking up, but does proceed to water the flowers like he'd asked for help with.]
You been keeping yourself busy here?
[Seems like the best thing any of them can do for themselves.]
no subject
[ Nier doesn't even know much about himself and he doesn't know much about the world. The shades made it difficult to see the world for what it was. ]
Kainé, did you know that people have these strange contraptions that can play music? It's not even an instrument it's just...some strange object I've never seen before.
no subject
[Safe to say she hasn't seen anything like it. Instruments, sure— she's seen plenty of people play those back home, and it wouldn't surprise her to find something else like it here, but she hasn't encountered any objects like the one he's loosely describing.]
You mean it plays it all on its own, without anyone having to pull any strings or blow into it?
[Huh.]
no subject
[ The world where Kainé and Nier comes from is unique. A lot of the things he sees here in Reverein are downright bizzare. Kainé's reaction is only normal. ]
This place is full of things we'd never see back home.
no subject
[Shades dropped all kinds of ruined gadgets that they didn't understand, and the Junk Heap was like another world entirely.]
You think maybe... ancient humans had stuff like this?
no subject
[ Grimoire Weiss. A friend they both know well.]
Weiss is just...old. He's a book. A flying book.
[ The flying book part is particularly important for some reason. At any rate, there's only a few individuals who can say for sure what life was like in ancient times.]
no subject
[She scowls slightly at the mention of his name, but there's something oddly affectionate about it.]
He might've known at one point, but how much you wanna bet he'd forgotten?
[That seemed to be an issue for him.]
Might've been too helpful if he remembered all that seemingly endless knowledge he once had. Can't have that.
no subject
[ It sounds like Nier cares a great deal for his friends. ]
It'd help if we could just ask the book directly but, he's not here. There are so many things I want to say to that guy.
How about you? What would you want to say to him? [ Kainé seems to recall the cookbook quite well. That makes Nier happy.]
no subject
[At his question, she smiles to herself, getting down on one knee to better reach one of the plants she's set out to water.]
... heh. That's easy. 'Cram it up your index.'
[A classic.]
no subject
[They already experienced several nightmares and dreams in fact! He's just glad that they made it out okay. ]
Sometimes I just get confused and give myself a headache with them. This world has too many things we don't understand.
no subject
[It's frank, straightforward advice, but Kainé's never been one to beat around the bush.]
We've got those journals. Use 'em to keep track of what you learn. Share shit with other people. Seems like folks are real into that kind of garbage here.
[You know, working together and problem-solving. Chump stuff.]
no subject
[ They really lived in such a different world compared to everyone else. ]
I learned everything I know back with Devola and Popola in the village. They taught me how to read and write so that I'd get more work.
no subject
[The answer is straightforward, succinct— her parents hadn't lived long enough to teach her much of anything, but she did at least know the basics before her grandmother insisted she keep up with it.]
She wanted to be sure that no matter what happened, I'd be able to look after myself. Said that stuff was important. She's who taught me to garden, too. Pretty much everything, really.
[Kali was a formidable woman in many ways.]
