{ GAME OPENING LOG }
✵ GAME OPENING LOG ✵
Normally our TDMs serve as intro logs, but we have prepared a special character intro log for game opening! It is a massive, chaotic feast that can only be found in a dreamworld like Songerein. You can also use this to continue ongoing TDM threads, especially as it nears captcha. Reminder that any thread from the TDM can be carried over. Players are also welcome to make their own logs for things if they would rather skip this part. Be sure to read the Mod Announcement for other information and you can ask any questions regarding the log here.
I. THE FEAST

A. What's Your Sign? Everyone will find themselves mysteriously "tagged" with a special sticker and will suddenly gain special characteristics based off the animal: ears, tails, behavioral traits. They're mostly mild and to add flavor, but they may also feel different compatibility towards another, such as more attracted or opposed. The sticker will be hard to remove, but it is possible to swap with someone if they want to try a different experience.
B. Special Bowls. There are many tables and anyone can sit wherever they want. Just don't forget to pick up the special dinner bowl already personalized with their name on it. Of course there are some extra paints and decorations that can be added to it if one desires.

D. Spice Up Your Li—Meal. However fear not. There is normal food around so it is possible to have a proper meal. However, some helpful little dragons may fly by to add a few herbs and spices to the dishes. They are quite friendly and will listen to requests, however if one is rude or too demanding, they may just dump a bunch of a hot pepper and other unsavory seasoning instead. Make a good enough impression and they might make house calls, even follow someone home. They live to spice up food, after all.
E. Drink Tea. Although there is an assortment of beverages, the prevalent one will be tea. They are similar to the ones found in the cafe and all will help bring out festive dreams and restful sleep later for everyone. However, someone is clearly making mischief as they have slipped in some rodentia tea. Drinking it will cause the drinker to shrink to the size of a rat. The only way to return to normal is to find the elusive cat cookies, which can be strangely hard to find; they seem to vanish and reappear at random, but only the ones with wide grins and “Eat Me” written on them can be eaten.
II. FUN & GAMES
Perhaps the food isn't up to one's tastes, or they just would rather have some fun. There are a few games around the plaza that everyone is welcome to participate in and they are encouraged to play to their heart's content. Just beware of the geese as they are being a menace not only at the tables but disrupting games as well.
A. Playing Chicken. A simple game, really, one that will test one's creativity and taste buds. There is a goat cheese fondue fountain surrounded with various platters of cooked chicken: grilled, steamed, boiled, baked, fried. This fondue fountain, however, is special. The flavor of the fondue can be altered depending on the kinds of emotions near it. Joy and love make it sugary sweet, anger and jealousy spicy hot, despair and distrust salty sour. And of course everything in-between including a chaotic mix. The challenge is one person will try and alter the flavor of the fondue, lather it on a piece of chicken, and then hand it to their opponent. The chicken must then be consumed. If not, the one who "cooked" it wins. If it is consumed, then the second person can now do the same to the other. This continues until one forfeits. It should be noted that the emotions of the one eating can also affect the fondue. (It is of course possible to take either the fondue or chicken without playing this stomach churning game.)

C. Ox Go-Kart. For those who really want some speed and action, there are ox driven carts stationed by various streets. Two people can partner up with one driving and the other serving to help try to slow the other cart down. In this race, all non-lethal, non-destructive abilities are allowed to try and disrupt the other racer. Perhaps utilizing dreamotion based abilities may fare better. Just beware of other obstacles, especially any random crying dodos that create giant pools of tears as water hazards.
D. Tiger Fishing. There are special colorful ponds filled with sparkly gummy koi fish. At each one there is a little round tiger(?) with a pair of tiger mittens. In the same vein of fish scooping games, players must wear the tiger mittens and catch the gummy fish with them. It won't be easy as the gummy fish are even more slippery than normal. Perhaps some other skills could be used...but the little tiger will be watching and will latch onto anyone's heads who try to cheat. But if caught, they will make for a delectable treat—or interesting pet.

He did. [He can't stop the grin that forms on his face as he nods.] He got some help to do it... from Zexion and Vexen, and even Saix, believe it or not. They wanted to help Sora too, and got replicas for us to use.
[He places a hand over his chest.]
Technically, this body I'm in is a replica body. But Vexen said they were his best ones, human in every way. We were able to use replicas to become our own people. You, me... and even Xion.
[And the fact that he's even saying that name, and knows who that person is, should be very telling for Naminé as to just how far Sora had gone to help them.]
no subject
All of those guys...
[ Saix really is the most unbelievable one in there, but Vexen's not terribly far off from it, himself. If she weren't hearing it from Roxas, she might struggle to believe it - but she trusts him more than well enough to take his word for what happened. And sure, she's wondering about the logistics, doesn't miss the term 'replica'; it's just that there's so much to take in that it doesn't even occur to her to interrupt.
There are implications in that description that she wants to ask more about, but... that name really does push aside all of it. Sucking in a shocked breath, Naminé looks close to disbelief - except there's no room for that, because there's only one way Roxas would know that name, and of that Naminé's quite aware. The girl only manages another couple of seconds before her welling tears finally begin to flow over; ducking her head, she turns her face into one curled palm, trying to press them away. ]
Sorry-- [ she chokes, too emotional to be fully embarrassed. ] I'm sorry, it's just--...
[ Give her a second, Roxas. ]
I'm so glad.
no subject
[Had he been told this before joining with Sora's heart? He wouldn't have believed a word of it. But it was true, every word of it.]
[He does give a start when she begins to cry, one hand coming up and reaching for her. But he doesn't touch her, not yet. But she doesn't sound sad, even though there are tears... emotions are so strange that way. He falters a bit, hesitant on how to console her, before he lowers his hand and offers her a smile.]
Yeah... I'm glad too. I know it might seem hard to believe, since you don't... know that it's happened yet. But trust me. We're all okay.
no subject
But she's touched, despite how his hand falls again without reaching all the way forward. Almost before he smiles, she's already returning it, and from there it grows until it meets her watery eyes. She's happy, really she is; she's just never learned to deal with that, either - how pleasantly it hurts in the very core of her chest. ]
I do, [ she gasps out, and yet her voice is warm with it even amongst the thickness of her tears. ] I believe you, Roxas. That's why I can't-- stop crying.
[ She doesn't have any other way to process her relief. Sadness doesn't make her weep like this, not often - but joy is much harder for her to overcome. Wiping at her face, she lets her eyelids fall for a moment as she makes a concerted effort to control the water escaping down her cheeks. Once she has some tenuous control, she reinforces, ]
I can't picture it right now, but... I know you wouldn't lie to me.
[ There's no question that she trusts him, at least. ]
no subject
I guess it's a bit hard to picture, huh? Even I can't believe it, some days. But, it's really real. And after all that, we all worked together to stop Xehanort.
[Oh yeah, that's... also a thing. He frowns a bit.]
Do you know anything about Xehanort?
no subject
Nodding at his words, Naminé continues to dry her cheeks the best she can. Fortunately that's made a trifle easier with the mention of their mutual enemy; it might not be a pleasant topic, but it's distraction enough from the source of her tears. ]
I know of him. About some of the things he did in the past. [ Her voice is just a tiny bit raspy, although her tone is serious. ] I know... that he caused a lot of trouble in Ventus, Aqua and Terra's time when he was trying to form the X-blade. And - I also know that there was a much younger man named Xehanort who was a part of what happened in Radiant Garden.
[ From her perspective, it all seemed likely enough to be connected. Exhaling as she blinks away the last of her tears, ]
I suppose-- I shouldn't be surprised that all of you know who he is now, too.
no subject
Yeah. We learned about who he was, and what he wanted. And... I learned how Xemnas was connected to him, too.
[In the end, it all linked back to Xehanort, didn't it?]
He was our final opponent. The one that we had to stop in order to fully prevent the worlds from falling to darkness.
no subject
Letting out a quiet breath of a sigh, ]
I think maybe I was hoping that it would all be over once Xemnas was gone. But... I can't say that I'm surprised that Xehanort found another way to come back. From what I learned about him, he seemed to be very cunning.
[ With that thought in mind, Naminé can't help but hesitate. Tracing back over the words in her memory, she pauses only a moment or two before asking carefully, ]
Does that mean... it's finally over, now? He's finally-- unable to hurt anyone else?
no subject
[He has to hand it to the guy, the amount of plans and backup plans he had was honestly impressive. If he hadn't been trying to bring about the destruction of the worlds and hurt his friends, Xehanort could have been pretty brilliant.]
But, yeah. It's over, and he's gone now. For good. I saw it with my own eyes.
[He says it with a firm nod and a smile. That's something he wouldn't dare lie about.]
no subject
[ Very impressive, that they can both (reluctantly) agree on. At Roxas's confirmation, the girl deflates slightly in both relief and something like sadness. ]
That's good. [ Mustering a smile in return isn't too hard. ] I'm sorry that it had to be that way, but... it's better that it's over, now.
[ There are few other manners in which to take 'gone for good' in this context. She lets it sink in a moment or two, then, ]
So-- what happened after that? Are you... are we--
[ After struggling briefly with her phrasing, Naminé voice gets quiet, almost careful when she finally asks, ]
Are we happy?
no subject
[Honestly, Roxas is just glad that, by all accounts, Xehanort was well and truly gone. It meant they could all live happily now. That's what they fought for, right?]
[Speaking of happiness, Roxas waits for Naminé to finish, before he grins and nods.]
Yeah... we are. I got to go back to Twilight Town with my friends, and meet up with everyone on Destiny Islands... we're all happy and back home. Everyone is.
[Though, he pauses, a small frown on his face.]
Well... almost everyone. Sora... he did something stupid.
no subject
Letting out a gasp of a laugh, she quickly brushes a hand against her cheek just to be sure no further tears have snuck free. It comes away dry, and she curls her fingers against her hair a moment, trying to compose herself.
Unfortunately, his pause helps with that. Her head lifts slightly as she senses his frown before she sees it directly. Her own smile ebbs, a quiet, creeping chill starting to worm its way through amongst the gladness in between her ribs. ]
'Something stupid'...?
[ she repeats, not actually sure she wants to hear it elaborated upon. But no - it sounds important, and all the more so for the inclusion of Sora's name. ]
no subject
[But Roxas nods, letting out a small sigh as a frown forms on his face.]
Yeah. After that last fight, all of us were saved... except Kairi. So Sora... he used a power that he probably shouldn't have to go and rescue her. He was able to find her heart and bring her back, but... afterwards, he ended up disappearing. We didn't know where he went, and all of us tried our best to find him.
But when I went to Aefenglom... Sora was there. He told me he ended up at some other world before going to Aefenglom, some big city he'd never been to...
no subject
Perhaps understandably, her good mood has lapsed quickly. Nearly forgetting how to breathe entirely at the mention of Sora disappearing, she only seems to relax - and then merely halfway - when there's some evidence that he continued to exist in their worlds. Some part of them, anyway. ]
A-- power? [ One she didn't know he possessed, maybe; the Keyblade is mysterious, even to Naminé. Even so, ] That's... so strange. For him to disappear like that, let alone be so hard to find--
[ So hard for someone with magic like her own to find, apparently, which is all the more distressing. ]
It must not be just a city.
[ Curling a hand against her mouth, she seems to take a moment to allow all of this to sink in. Once she does, her hand sinks slightly, her frown visible overtop of it. ]
I want... [ The girl falters, very much unused to expressing herself. ] I want to be frustrated with him. [ She looks as if she feels a bit guilty for even saying so afterward, and her hands curl around each other on her lap. ] But I can't say that I'm surprised he would do something like that. Not if it was for the sake of a friend.
no subject
[He's not sure if Naminé knows about it; if not, he can explain it. But he nods slowly.]
Yeah. He wasn't in any of the worlds we knew, and even my connection to him felt... different.
[And the way Naminé feels conflicted over the matter, Roxas can't help but let out a dry chuckle.]
Oh, I felt the same way. I know it was just... so natural for Sora to do. But I also gave him an earful when I saw him. But then again, he wouldn't be Sora if he didn't go recklessly jumping into things for the sake of friends, right?
[He looks at Naminé, and after a moment, adds,]
If you did want to tell him off, well... I know he's here.
no subject
Nevertheless, something around her mouth softens as she hears her fellow Nobody sympathize. Letting out a slow sigh, the girl's lips flicker almost reluctantly up at the corners. ]
Right. And the worlds need people like that, like the rest of us do. Someone who has such a big heart that they'll give their all to help. But, then-- that's the problem.
[ Because the worlds won't stop needing someone like that if the one they have goes and gets himself hurt beyond repair - to say nothing of the very same friends he cares so much about. Her quiet sigh is somewhere between fond and exasperated, and she lets that thought peter out for a beat, eyes low.
They dart back up at that last sentence; it takes her an extra couple of seconds to breathe in again. This revelation in particular seems to fill her up with feeling, bringing her shoulders higher almost as if she can't quite contain it. Fingers shifting, the girl looks profoundly uncertain in a nervous kind of way, right on the border of happy, but-- she lets out a faint, wry laugh that tangles together with her, ]
I don't think that I can do that. [ Her soft voice sounds a little helpless, despite how anxiously glad she is and the richness that it brings to her tone. ] Not yet, anyway. Not the first time I see him again after-- after so long.
[ Maybe never. Things are tough for her when it comes to Sora; she never knows whether to step forward or step back. Still, that doesn't mean there isn't a lecture brewing in the back of her mind. The only question is whether or not it'll see the light of day. ]
Besides, if he didn't listen to you after all of that time together, I'm sure my luck wouldn't be any better. It's like you said, after all. Sora's... just Sora.
[ And she won't change that, despite what unnatural power she might hypothetically have to do so. ]
no subject
[It was why he had originally ended up merging with Sora, and accepted Sora's presence as necessary. It really had to be him, in the end.]
Well... maybe if we all tried at the same time, he'd be more inclined to listen.
[He says it with a slight teasing tone in his voice. Though, he knows she's right. Sora is just very Sora.]
It's... really been a long time for you, huh?
no subject
Wryly, she exhales a breath of a laugh at that second comment. ]
Yeah. Maybe he would. [ Although her expectations of the chances of it working are pretty low in that hypothetical, too. ] But it'd still be a tough fight, even if everyone threatened to give him the cold shoulder at once.
[ And still harder to make good on such a threat, most likely.
Sobering at Roxas's question, Naminé seems to feel some measure of reluctance, but she answers just the same, hands folded together on her lap. ]
I think so.
[ She says it slightly high in her mouth, a faintly musing uncertainty. ]
I spent a few months in the place I... that I was in before. It was even getting close to being a year. And before that, as far as I know, there was at least one other world. But exactly how long it's been, I-- don't think that I can say.
[ Despite putting a fairly brave face on for it, that really does bother her. With a faint tilt of her head, ]
Not for certain, anyway.
[ She manages to hold in her sigh for one beat, two, and then it escapes. Trying not to let her brow scrunch and betray the quiet, anxious feeling in her chest, she admits, ]
It feels like it's been more than a lifetime.
no subject
[He listens to Naminé's explanation carefully, a small frown on his face. Such a long time... no wonder Naminé would have such a time adjusting. Heck, he's had a time adjusting to being in Aefenglom for over a year himself.]
I don't think I can, either. Being in Aefenglom, being told about me being in a world I don't remember... it feels like so long since I've been in Twilight Town.
[If he still had his canine ears, they'd be lowered by now. Heck, he can practically imagine how that would feel.]
It's... it'll take some time for us to get used to, I think. I don't think even Sora's gone through something like this...
no subject
Brow creased, Naminé's eyes are openly sympathetic over her own delicate frown as Roxas expresses the sentiment she understands all too well. They're both in the same boat - or two very close together, anyhow, and Naminé's content to keep it that way. Nodding quietly, the girl gives a soft hum of agreement at his verdict. ]
Not that I ever saw. [ And she saw a lot of Sora's memories, back when she had the opportunity. ] But we've all got to get used to it, now.
[ Sora included, apparently. Looking across at Roxas, Naminé hesitates, second-guessing herself, but-- in spite of that, she lifts one careful hand and holds it out for him with her palm open. Perhaps she's feeling the same thing he did a moment ago, the desire to provide comfort without the certainty about how to go through with it. Giving him a hand to hold isn't much, yet... ]
So this time - we'll do it together.
[ She knows that people come and go from places like this, that they're here one day and gone the next without any warning. It seems reasonable to expect a similar situation in this world too, especially when it claims to be a dream. Still, she can't help herself for wanting to comfort him - to comfort both of them - with a little certainty. ]
Alright?
[ It's not a promise, exactly, but it's something close. ]
no subject
[He smiles softly at her, nodding to her. He moves forward, taking her hand in his.]
Alright. Together.
no subject
Thank you, Roxas. For everything.
[ And for not treating her with more suspicion, which she would feel deserving of if he did. Letting her fingers relax again, she'll relinquish her hold on his whenever he lets go. Almost sheepish but with eyes warm from her gratitude, ]
A lot of what you've told me today changes the whole world for me.
no subject
Ah... sorry if I gave a bit too much information. But, I think it's important to tell you what happened. To let you know that things... they get better.
no subject
No...! [ Without a moment's hesitation, the girl shakes her head at his apology. ] No. You said exactly what I needed to hear.
[ Feeling her chest fill up with emotion again, Naminé swallows it back down, clearing her throat as she sits back slightly. With a little tuck of her chin, she smiles wryly. ]
But I've taken up a lot of your time already, hm? [ 'So I'm the one who should be sorry,' might be in her expression, though she stops short of saying as much. ] If either of us are going to have somewhere to sleep tonight, we probably can't get away with sitting around for much longer.
[ And she needs the opportunity to digest all of this, even if her main aim is to give Roxas the freedom to consider this courtesy fulfilled. ]
no subject
[And there's still more to tell her.
At least six games worth. But he figures it's best to let her digest it all in bits, rather than dump it all on her at once.]Hmm, yeah, that's right. We should get back to work if we want to sleep comfortably. And we don't want those bugs coming back, do we?
