{ GAME OPENING LOG }

✵ GAME OPENING LOG ✵
Normally our TDMs serve as intro logs, but we have prepared a special character intro log for game opening! It is a massive, chaotic feast that can only be found in a dreamworld like Songerein. You can also use this to continue ongoing TDM threads, especially as it nears captcha. Reminder that any thread from the TDM can be carried over. Players are also welcome to make their own logs for things if they would rather skip this part. Be sure to read the Mod Announcement for other information and you can ask any questions regarding the log here.

I. THE FEAST

As the sleepy looking sun begins to set, the small little tapir fairies will buzz around to find all the new inhabitants and usher them to the plaza. There everyone will find several tables of various lengths, sizes, and shapes. Yes, that is a star shaped table along with a moon one. A special feast has been made just for them to welcome and celebrate their arrival. Some may even recognize decorations: leaves mottled and changing to an assortment of colors, festive streamers, popcorn strings, glittering garlands and bows, string lanterns, and maybe a few small gravestones here and there. Some areas might look a bit brown and withered while some of the trees take on a more cherry blossom look. It's a bit of a strange mashup, and yet the chaos seems to have a sense of harmony as well—especially when considering everything else that the feast has to offer. This is one divine feast that is going to be completely topsy turvy.

A. What's Your Sign? Everyone will find themselves mysteriously "tagged" with a special sticker and will suddenly gain special characteristics based off the animal: ears, tails, behavioral traits. They're mostly mild and to add flavor, but they may also feel different compatibility towards another, such as more attracted or opposed. The sticker will be hard to remove, but it is possible to swap with someone if they want to try a different experience.

B. Special Bowls. There are many tables and anyone can sit wherever they want. Just don't forget to pick up the special dinner bowl already personalized with their name on it. Of course there are some extra paints and decorations that can be added to it if one desires.

C. Wild Food. Every table has the same kind of food, and there is plenty to go around. Of course, that's only if the food can be caught and if one can keep an appetite for some of them. The boar's head is a bit talkative and might settle down if someone stuffs an apple in its mouth or tells it a joke. However, it might just get several laughs by the barrel of monkeys funnel cake nearby, monkey shaped pastries hiding within it to chuck out various candies and fruits. Not even the candy is safe, at least not the stringed ones. Licorice, chocolate coated taffy, and others will start slithering around and even hiss, sometimes wrapping around the arm of those who try to eat them. Playing some music might calm these sweet serpents so they can be eaten properly. How about that special carousel cake stand with the horse cookies prancing about?

D. Spice Up Your Li—Meal. However fear not. There is normal food around so it is possible to have a proper meal. However, some helpful little dragons may fly by to add a few herbs and spices to the dishes. They are quite friendly and will listen to requests, however if one is rude or too demanding, they may just dump a bunch of a hot pepper and other unsavory seasoning instead. Make a good enough impression and they might make house calls, even follow someone home. They live to spice up food, after all.

E. Drink Tea. Although there is an assortment of beverages, the prevalent one will be tea. They are similar to the ones found in the cafe and all will help bring out festive dreams and restful sleep later for everyone. However, someone is clearly making mischief as they have slipped in some rodentia tea. Drinking it will cause the drinker to shrink to the size of a rat. The only way to return to normal is to find the elusive cat cookies, which can be strangely hard to find; they seem to vanish and reappear at random, but only the ones with wide grins and “Eat Me” written on them can be eaten.

II. FUN & GAMES

Perhaps the food isn't up to one's tastes, or they just would rather have some fun. There are a few games around the plaza that everyone is welcome to participate in and they are encouraged to play to their heart's content. Just beware of the geese as they are being a menace not only at the tables but disrupting games as well.

A. Playing Chicken. A simple game, really, one that will test one's creativity and taste buds. There is a goat cheese fondue fountain surrounded with various platters of cooked chicken: grilled, steamed, boiled, baked, fried. This fondue fountain, however, is special. The flavor of the fondue can be altered depending on the kinds of emotions near it. Joy and love make it sugary sweet, anger and jealousy spicy hot, despair and distrust salty sour. And of course everything in-between including a chaotic mix. The challenge is one person will try and alter the flavor of the fondue, lather it on a piece of chicken, and then hand it to their opponent. The chicken must then be consumed. If not, the one who "cooked" it wins. If it is consumed, then the second person can now do the same to the other. This continues until one forfeits. It should be noted that the emotions of the one eating can also affect the fondue. (It is of course possible to take either the fondue or chicken without playing this stomach churning game.)

B. Gravity of Luck. There is a special wheel lottery set on a table decorated with rabbits. In fact there are a lot of rabbits congregating here and would love a few carrots. Anyone is free to spin the wheel one time per round to determine what kind of special "gravity" effect they receive. Each time the wheel is spun, a ball will drop and the color will indicate the type. A gold ball will cause them to lose all sense of gravity, their bodies starting to float away and although they can fly and float around, they'll need help being tethered down. White balls allow them to jump higher, small mushrooms appearing at their feet so others can follow. A black ball will cause them to be stuck in place, even fall flat all the way to the ground and need help standing up. Those imbued with the power of the different balls can help balance each other out until the effect wears off in half an hour.

C. Ox Go-Kart. For those who really want some speed and action, there are ox driven carts stationed by various streets. Two people can partner up with one driving and the other serving to help try to slow the other cart down. In this race, all non-lethal, non-destructive abilities are allowed to try and disrupt the other racer. Perhaps utilizing dreamotion based abilities may fare better. Just beware of other obstacles, especially any random crying dodos that create giant pools of tears as water hazards.

D. Tiger Fishing. There are special colorful ponds filled with sparkly gummy koi fish. At each one there is a little round tiger(?) with a pair of tiger mittens. In the same vein of fish scooping games, players must wear the tiger mittens and catch the gummy fish with them. It won't be easy as the gummy fish are even more slippery than normal. Perhaps some other skills could be used...but the little tiger will be watching and will latch onto anyone's heads who try to cheat. But if caught, they will make for a delectable treat—or interesting pet.

[Yes, good.]

And on the flip side, not unusual at all things to get a bit heated to help balance it out.

[There's a subtle nod at Hans. Alvin had just been slowly moving his hand, testing to see if he really can adjust the water's temperature and the thrill of "gaming" the system is working in his favor. He can feel the temperature warming and he immediately cools it again since he doesn't want to actually boil the fish (although that is certainly one way to do it). But now he knows he can keep the waters at a more favorable temp, so now it's just a matter of "chasing" the fish towards him.]

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-09-27 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Hans waits for Alvin to get a feel of temperature shifting, then he begins to swirl the water on his end, as if to let the other man know that he's getting ready to cool the area on his end. He's mostly been spending a lot of his free time practicing with the dream energy, but it still takes him a moment to get the water to start cooling. Not too cold, of course, but he keeps on steadily decreasing the temperature until the fish start swimming to Alvin's side.

If the tiger is looking suspicious at him, well, Hans is just gonna keep that innocent expression. That's also sort of determined.]

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-09-28 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[They're not doing anything, it's the water. The water. But Alvin is grinning a bit when the fish swim over.

And as soon as they're within reach...!]

Hah, gotcha!

[He holds one up triumphantly in the air!! And perhaps thanks to his desire to want to keep that damn fish, the glove actually is a bit sticky.

...All right, it's so sticky there's actually some goo appearing and captures the fish.]

—Uh oh.
sleightofhans: (i'm def concerned really)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-09-29 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice catch!

[...Look, if he's genuinely enthusiastic about his partner-in-crime actually catching one of those squiggly bastards, Hans is just going to blame how irritating they've been until now. It actually feels like they've accomplished something and he's going to take the victory without hesitation. However, that triumph feeling starts to sink, when Hans notices how the fish actually sticks to the mitten.

It's a clear sign of cheating.

And suddenly the tiger's eyes change from that soft expression to something far more angry, before leaping forward and lightly biting onto the top of Alvin's head. At least no actual teeth are involved... but Hans looks on with a slightly worried expression. Mostly worried if the tiger is going to target him next.

He'll just. Slowly pull his mittens from the water.]

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-03 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Gyah, not the hair!!!

[Yes, Alvin is worried about his hair than his actual head. Probably because it doesn't actually hurt that much. But in the process he suddenly stands up, instinctively reaching up to try and grab the tiger... But of course that won't really go well with the fish stuck to his glove.]
sleightofhans: (oh that's dead)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-10-05 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Guess he should probably help his companion here. It'd look bad on him if he just stood around while a tiger is latched onto his head. Of course, it runs the risk of Hans getting attacked by the tiger, but it's a risk he's willing to take. It doesn't seem like it poses any actual threat at the very least.

So, he steps forward to Alvin, worry etched across his face as he raises his gloved hands to the tiger.]

Hold on, okay? Maybe I can pull this tiger off you.
opportunitycosts: (• rollin' and tumblin')

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-07 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Karma is going to get both of them, because the moment Hans steps in, the tiger eyes him with a fierce glint before suddenly lunging at him to try and latch onto his face.

Which won't really hurt that much if it succeeds, at worst the tiger might hit Hans's chest instead.]
sleightofhans: (ew i'm not touching that)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-10-09 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah!

[The startled yell is 100% genuine, because Hans didn't think the tiger would set its sights on him, not so quickly at least. He only manages a step back before the horrid creature lurches at him, with the prince holding his arm out in mere instinct. Unfortunately, this causes the tiger to latch onto his gloved mitten and Hans shakes his arm in an effort to get the tiger off him, but no such luck.]

Excuse you, I was not cheating!

[Except he totally was, but who's keeping track!!]
opportunitycosts: (• all through the night)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-11 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
[A cheater and a liar?? Hissss how dare!! Now it's going to sink its not so big teeth into that mitten and just cling on tighter.

Fortunately Alvin won't leave his partner in crime behind though he totally would have in the past you got lucky Hans.]

Whoa, whoa, okay, okay, we're sorry!

[MAYBE BEING HONEST AND APOLOGIZING WILL APPEASE IT?? MAYBE...??? He's also going to risk it and try to grab the tiger to try and pry it off.]
sleightofhans: (is that a sad backstory)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-10-14 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Why this pesky, horrible little creature... Maybe Hans should be grateful that its teeth aren't actually sharp, but gratitude isn't something that always comes easily to him. He stops shaking his arm when Alvin walks up to him, just holding his limb up at chest level so that they can address the creature.]

...Yes, we're sorry. We won't perform such disgraceful actions again.

[He sounds honest at least and Hans is pretty much done trying to catch a fish, so maybe the sentiment will pull through, even though he's not really sorry.]
opportunitycosts: (• all through the night)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-15 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
[The tiger just looks at them.... Before slowly releasing its hold and then hopping down, paws extended.]

...?

[An impatient tap of its foot as it points to the mittens.]

Oh right, here you go, heh.

[Just going to hastily take off the mitten to hand it to the tiger before it turns to Hans.]
sleightofhans: (guilt??)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-10-17 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Can he kick the tiger?? No, probably not. Hans can see that ending terribly for him, because this place works in irritating magical ways. It's always magic that gets in the way of his plans. Besides, he has to keep up some appearances and kicking a small creature probably wouldn't look good on him.

So, he takes off his mittens and gives it to the tiger as well, almost sheepishly rubbing the back of his head afterward.]

Guess that ends our time at this. [He looks over to Alvin with a somewhat tired smile.] Are you doing okay?
opportunitycosts: (• i'm right back home again)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-19 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Not as bad as it could be. We didn't end up swimming in the pond at least.

[A wry grin before he holds out a hand.]

Still, although we didn't win the prize it was fun working with you. Name's Alvin.
sleightofhans: (prince hans of trashpile)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-10-21 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[His smile quirks up slightly, maybe something that's a little genuine, before he defaults to his more polite demeanor. Hans takes the offered hand, holding in a firm grip, as he tries to introduce himself in a dignified manner.

...Some of that is probably lost when he was just shaking a tiger from his hand.]

Despite the outcome, the pleasure's been mine, Alvin. I'm Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, but please, call me Hans.
opportunitycosts: (• now there's trouble no more)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-21 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[They both lost a lot of dignity throughout this ordeal it's fiiiine.]

A prince, eh? [A wide grin.] Then it's an honor to make your acquaintance, Hans. This all must be different from what you're used to.
sleightofhans: (take my hand)

[personal profile] sleightofhans 2021-10-21 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hans blinks, maybe a little surprised to see a large smile form on Alvin's expression. It seems less 'I'm truly honored to meet you' and something maybe slightly devious, but of course, he's just making assumptions. Still, he pretends to fall for it, nodding and chuckling lightly as he readily agrees with his new friend.]

Yes, everything is very different! I mean, besides the obvious-- magic and tiny tigers for one, but I even had to learn how to cook recently. It's almost like I'm starting a whole new adventure here.
