{ GAME OPENING LOG }

✵ GAME OPENING LOG ✵
Normally our TDMs serve as intro logs, but we have prepared a special character intro log for game opening! It is a massive, chaotic feast that can only be found in a dreamworld like Songerein. You can also use this to continue ongoing TDM threads, especially as it nears captcha. Reminder that any thread from the TDM can be carried over. Players are also welcome to make their own logs for things if they would rather skip this part. Be sure to read the Mod Announcement for other information and you can ask any questions regarding the log here.

I. THE FEAST

As the sleepy looking sun begins to set, the small little tapir fairies will buzz around to find all the new inhabitants and usher them to the plaza. There everyone will find several tables of various lengths, sizes, and shapes. Yes, that is a star shaped table along with a moon one. A special feast has been made just for them to welcome and celebrate their arrival. Some may even recognize decorations: leaves mottled and changing to an assortment of colors, festive streamers, popcorn strings, glittering garlands and bows, string lanterns, and maybe a few small gravestones here and there. Some areas might look a bit brown and withered while some of the trees take on a more cherry blossom look. It's a bit of a strange mashup, and yet the chaos seems to have a sense of harmony as well—especially when considering everything else that the feast has to offer. This is one divine feast that is going to be completely topsy turvy.

A. What's Your Sign? Everyone will find themselves mysteriously "tagged" with a special sticker and will suddenly gain special characteristics based off the animal: ears, tails, behavioral traits. They're mostly mild and to add flavor, but they may also feel different compatibility towards another, such as more attracted or opposed. The sticker will be hard to remove, but it is possible to swap with someone if they want to try a different experience.

B. Special Bowls. There are many tables and anyone can sit wherever they want. Just don't forget to pick up the special dinner bowl already personalized with their name on it. Of course there are some extra paints and decorations that can be added to it if one desires.

C. Wild Food. Every table has the same kind of food, and there is plenty to go around. Of course, that's only if the food can be caught and if one can keep an appetite for some of them. The boar's head is a bit talkative and might settle down if someone stuffs an apple in its mouth or tells it a joke. However, it might just get several laughs by the barrel of monkeys funnel cake nearby, monkey shaped pastries hiding within it to chuck out various candies and fruits. Not even the candy is safe, at least not the stringed ones. Licorice, chocolate coated taffy, and others will start slithering around and even hiss, sometimes wrapping around the arm of those who try to eat them. Playing some music might calm these sweet serpents so they can be eaten properly. How about that special carousel cake stand with the horse cookies prancing about?

D. Spice Up Your Li—Meal. However fear not. There is normal food around so it is possible to have a proper meal. However, some helpful little dragons may fly by to add a few herbs and spices to the dishes. They are quite friendly and will listen to requests, however if one is rude or too demanding, they may just dump a bunch of a hot pepper and other unsavory seasoning instead. Make a good enough impression and they might make house calls, even follow someone home. They live to spice up food, after all.

E. Drink Tea. Although there is an assortment of beverages, the prevalent one will be tea. They are similar to the ones found in the cafe and all will help bring out festive dreams and restful sleep later for everyone. However, someone is clearly making mischief as they have slipped in some rodentia tea. Drinking it will cause the drinker to shrink to the size of a rat. The only way to return to normal is to find the elusive cat cookies, which can be strangely hard to find; they seem to vanish and reappear at random, but only the ones with wide grins and “Eat Me” written on them can be eaten.

II. FUN & GAMES

Perhaps the food isn't up to one's tastes, or they just would rather have some fun. There are a few games around the plaza that everyone is welcome to participate in and they are encouraged to play to their heart's content. Just beware of the geese as they are being a menace not only at the tables but disrupting games as well.

A. Playing Chicken. A simple game, really, one that will test one's creativity and taste buds. There is a goat cheese fondue fountain surrounded with various platters of cooked chicken: grilled, steamed, boiled, baked, fried. This fondue fountain, however, is special. The flavor of the fondue can be altered depending on the kinds of emotions near it. Joy and love make it sugary sweet, anger and jealousy spicy hot, despair and distrust salty sour. And of course everything in-between including a chaotic mix. The challenge is one person will try and alter the flavor of the fondue, lather it on a piece of chicken, and then hand it to their opponent. The chicken must then be consumed. If not, the one who "cooked" it wins. If it is consumed, then the second person can now do the same to the other. This continues until one forfeits. It should be noted that the emotions of the one eating can also affect the fondue. (It is of course possible to take either the fondue or chicken without playing this stomach churning game.)

B. Gravity of Luck. There is a special wheel lottery set on a table decorated with rabbits. In fact there are a lot of rabbits congregating here and would love a few carrots. Anyone is free to spin the wheel one time per round to determine what kind of special "gravity" effect they receive. Each time the wheel is spun, a ball will drop and the color will indicate the type. A gold ball will cause them to lose all sense of gravity, their bodies starting to float away and although they can fly and float around, they'll need help being tethered down. White balls allow them to jump higher, small mushrooms appearing at their feet so others can follow. A black ball will cause them to be stuck in place, even fall flat all the way to the ground and need help standing up. Those imbued with the power of the different balls can help balance each other out until the effect wears off in half an hour.

C. Ox Go-Kart. For those who really want some speed and action, there are ox driven carts stationed by various streets. Two people can partner up with one driving and the other serving to help try to slow the other cart down. In this race, all non-lethal, non-destructive abilities are allowed to try and disrupt the other racer. Perhaps utilizing dreamotion based abilities may fare better. Just beware of other obstacles, especially any random crying dodos that create giant pools of tears as water hazards.

D. Tiger Fishing. There are special colorful ponds filled with sparkly gummy koi fish. At each one there is a little round tiger(?) with a pair of tiger mittens. In the same vein of fish scooping games, players must wear the tiger mittens and catch the gummy fish with them. It won't be easy as the gummy fish are even more slippery than normal. Perhaps some other skills could be used...but the little tiger will be watching and will latch onto anyone's heads who try to cheat. But if caught, they will make for a delectable treat—or interesting pet.

If it fails I'll just use a good ol' arte to make up for it.

[At least he has a backup plan, although whether it's better or worse is a different story. Still, he won't try anything too complicated. Just try to rupture the ground, and if how their emotions were working earlier is anything to go by, it shouldn't take much.

So he turns around and keeps his focus on the road. What would be a good emotion...anger? So what could he be angry about—

Aha, Leia gave him the perfect fuel. Though he's not really angry it is enough to make him grumble about it. So with that kind of emotion in mind, he focuses it on the road and...!

Rumble rumble rumble

They'll feel some of it, but the road behind them does indeed start to rumble and crack, creating a bunch of potholes. Nothing too extreme, but enough that anyone coming in from behind would have to slow down unless they want to break a few wheels or worse.]

All right, that should do it!

[And the road is clear in front of them so huzzah!]

[She cheers, very much relieved that didn't backfire and get them instead. Though she can't look behind her, she can feel the rumbling enough to guess what's happening. Guess emotions can be pretty powerful here! Something she'll have to try to keep in mind from now on.

For now, her eyes are focused ahead because there's another turn coming up, and she's feeling a lot more confident handling them. Not to mention that just beyond that turn is the finish line, so they're nearly there.]

Do I wanna know how you pulled that off?

[Much like how she used her emotion earlier to help them out, she's just a little curious how he managed this.]
opportunitycosts: (• everything was easy then)

[Sitting back down looking a little smug, he just grins.]

Just thought about how you were making fun of me earlier and channeled my "negative feelings" in a productive way.

[Just this look. So she takes one crack at him despite the countless he's made at her, and he whines about it.

Well.

That turn that's right up ahead? The one they are practically, now, barreling toward?

Yeah, she's going to make a really sharp jerk on the reins, the cart pitching, suddenly, towards his side to jostle him and that smug face of his, and it almost seems like the whole cart might tip over.

But somehow, it doesn't. Perhaps because of the sheer emotional energy to see him sweat a little. It returns upright, almost delicately.]

Oops! Man, that turn sure came out of nowhere!

[She declares innocently.

It didn't.]

[GREAT SPIRITS LEIA]

That was completely uncalled for!!!

[no it wasn't it was completely deserved

He is definitely clutching the sides of the cart, the ground and the cart itself rocking a bit due to intense fear and panic he had in that moment, but fortunately it won't last for too long. Although his heart is still racing a mile a minute, it was only that intense outburst that caused a reaction.]

[personal profile] ragingscoopaholic 2021-10-08 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Totally deserved.

Things get a bit bumpy, but she takes it in stride. Mostly because she's enjoying his reaction a little too much and putting him in his place is always satisfying. Though it rarely happens, and so she chooses to enjoy it when it does.]

I have no idea what you're talking about, that was the smoothest turn yet! You know, to be totally honest, I half expected the cart to flip over when I tried that, but it didn't. In fact, I'm feeling pretty confident. I bet I can balance this thing on two wheels!

[Yeah, it might actually be a blessing that the finish line is in sight.]
opportunitycosts: (• i threw it all away)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-09 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
You're getting confident for the wrong reason!

[THE CART REALLY COULD HAVE FLIPPED she is definitely learning the wrong lessons. Just because reckless actions worked once doesn't mean it should be done again!! pot calling the kettle black

But yes, it is very much a relief to see the finish line in sight.]

Let's just try to get there in one piece... We have a pretty good lead now so can probably take it easy.
ragingscoopaholic: (pic#14444429)

[personal profile] ragingscoopaholic 2021-10-09 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[There it is, Alvin the Buzzkill. Okay, so, she did that maneuver purposely to scare him because he was being a jerk, but she still nailed it! Some support would be nice.]

We still are in one piece, aren't we? A little encouragement now and then wouldn't kill you, y'know. Seriously. Try to have some fun, it's the best we can do being stuck here.

[She does ease up on the reins though, but whether it's out of confidence, or because Alvin is a total killjoy that deflated her mood is a mystery. Well. Maybe not a total mystery, it's a bit of both. Still, looks like they're going to win and that'll perk her right back up.]
opportunitycosts: (• everything was easy then)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-11 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe he'll look back on this and give her praise. Maybe. Hard maybe.]

I'd be happy to give you encouragement when it doesn't involving risking bodily harm. Specifically to me.

[FLAT FACE... But, well.]

Still, I suppose it is true that you managed to keep control of that ox despite everything that's happened. Guess this means I can let you take the reins and enjoy a free ride if we ever have to take a wagon somewhere.
ragingscoopaholic: (pic#14444431)

[personal profile] ragingscoopaholic 2021-10-11 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Perhaps if he stopped being a jerk then he wouldn't have to worry about bodily harm! And she's not opposed to beating this lesson into him at some point.

But then... he does manage to say something nice. So. Fine. Maybe she will refrain from beating him too much.]

Awesome!! I'm gonna start coming up with some new maneuvers right away! I've already got a few that I can't wait to try.

[One day he might look back on this conversation and regret saying that, assuming he doesn't already. But she's beaming away, the ox coasting across the finish line, while Leia gently tugs on the reins and waits for the ox to stop.]
opportunitycosts: (• you're still a part of me)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh yeah. Definitely regretting it. While on the one hand he does want to trust Leia won't do anything too reckless... ... ... How can he forget that "reckless" is pretty much her middle name?? (Just like how "jerk" is his—)]

Okay, don't get too many wild ideas there.

[But as fired up as she is, the ox is more than ready to take a break. So they'll coast to a slow and only slightly jerking halt as the ox stops, the staff rushing into congratulate them for their win.]

But despite the harrowing antics...I admit it was pretty fun.
ragingscoopaholic: (pic#14448146)

[personal profile] ragingscoopaholic 2021-10-13 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
[With her tiger tail flicking excitedly, ears twitching, she hardly hears Alvin at first before she practically pounces, throwing her arms around his neck for a great big victory hug.]

We won! We totally won!! And all you have to say is that it was 'pretty fun'???

[Even then, his lack of enthusiasm, at least in comparison to her own enthusiasm, hardly dampens her spirits, and she maintains that little victory hug for a bit longer than necessary...

Then she pulls away, perhaps having realized it was longer than intended. And she's really not quite sure what spurred the need to get that physical, but she quickly changes the topic. Her ears tinged a little pink.]

Oh! Do you think that maybe you could help me learn that dreamotion stuff sometime?
opportunitycosts: (• that we had now fade to black)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-15 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[He blinks in some surprise before he laughs, his arms wrapping around her waist to return the hug.]

C'mon, we had it in the bag! I just know how to play it cool.

[He adds with a wink—but he is admittedly pretty excited they won. It had been pretty hectic back there, and given what they've been through he doesn't think twice about Leia hugging him longer than was probably usual. That said, he does notice that little bit of pink—but he thinks she's just embarrassed she got so enthusiastic and "lost her cool." Still, he's happy to see her energetic so it's a win all around.]

But sure. Can't say I'm an expert at it yet, but I think I figured out a few things.
ragingscoopaholic: (pic#14448153)

[personal profile] ragingscoopaholic 2021-10-15 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Whether she felt that sudden urge to hug him or not doesn't matter, she's mostly just embarrassed that it lasted as long as it did. But Alvin doesn't draw attention to it, and so she continues to avoid the topic.]

And between the two of us, I bet we can figure out even more of it! Alright, now that that's settled, how about we go grab some victory desserts?
opportunitycosts: (• never too far from knowing)

[personal profile] opportunitycosts 2021-10-16 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Why am I not surprised you're ready to hit the desserts? [But he just chuckles.] All right, let's go. Just clear it out.
