[It's hot. There's more to the day, yes, but it's hot. That's all Wanderer really cares about, especially since it's so hot his flying kitten is still asleep in his house and not perched on his hat.

Wanderer really, really hates the heat. He hates the cold too, but for some reason the heat is making him cranky. Why couldn't his creator have thought to put in a cooling system of some sort? No, he doesn't want to sweat, but it would be nice to be able to be cool in this gross heat!

He's sitting under a tree by the lake, trying to cool off and debating if he really wants to stick his feet in the lake. It's tempting.]

[That makes his eyebrows arch up. Maybe it's because Venti's just such an open, free spirit he doesn't feel any need for labels? That would certainly explain... a few things.]

I don't think he would, even if I did.

[Heizou sighs a little and stops, hands on his hips and actually looking a little stern.]

But do you want him to.

I don't see why it matters if I do or not.

[Because Venti isn't going to be around forever, so why label something fleeting?]

[For a moment there he just... looks at Wanderer. Doing his studying thing again. Analyzing every little miniscule movement. These ageless beings are really on a whole other level of Closed Off.]

...Does it bother you?

[Wanderer isn't twitchy or anything, just annoyed. And maybe a little...almost scared? Like thinking about this is making him uncomfortable.]

Not really. I don't see why it would, either.

[Unfortunately, this is one of those times that Heizou doesn't mind causing a little discomfort.

He steps a little closer, leaning into Wanderer's space with a studious expression.]

...If Venti saw when I kissed you, would that bother you?

[Why are you in his space?!]

Yes, because I'm a private person. Obviously.

[Because why not?]

What if you saw Venti kissing me?

[He does actually stop to think about that before shrugging.]

That's simply Venti. He is the god of freedom.

[So yeah.]

[He quirks that eyebrow again, head tilting ever so slightly, eyes still searching.]

...Hmm. Interesting~

We should test this theory sometime. ♡

[Congratulations, Heizou, you get to see Dumbfounded Wanderer. He just stares at Heizou for a few seconds, utterly flummoxed.]

What.

[That look is exactly the shot of dopamine Heizou's craving. Thank you for giving it to him, Wanderer!]

Nothing, nothing! Just thinking out loud~

[Heizou there are less dangerous ways to get dopamine. Have you considered free-running?]

Whatever.

[His main thrill is solving mysteries and catching criminals. Dangerous things are much more interesting. Maybe he can take up sky diving, though.]

Would you like to keep me company for a little longer? We can do something you like, this time.

The things I like to do are solitary. [Like sewing. And crafting. And spoiling his cat.] And stationary. You like to move more than that.

Oh? And how did you come to deduce such a thing about me, hm?

[threebetrayals]

[A shrug!]

You move more than Arashi on catnip.

[book2thehead]

[Heizou chuckles softly.]

I move around to change the view. I like my surroundings to be scenic, that's all. Find a nice picturesque spot to sit and read for a few hours.

Really? You're always on the go when I see you. [Huh.] What books?

[book2thehead]

[Smile smile!] What do you think I'm doing when you don't see me~? [And oops, Wanderer you've just set off his Nerd Trigger!] Well, I'm a sucker for a good mystery novel. While they're not terribly realistic, at all, the crimes depicted are so convoluted and outlandish... It's so much fun trying to solve them before the characters do! I've found some excellent crime novels from other worlds here, too. They're amazing~ I can share them with you if you're interested?

I've never read a mystery novel before. [...eh fuck it.] I'll take a recommendation.

[Heizou's whole face immediately lights up. It's such a genuine, innocent delight that it might actually catch Wanderer a little off guard.] Oh?? In that case, I'll be sure to bring some over to you next time! We should probably start you off on something a little less complicated, though I'm sure a murder mystery would hardly phase you. There are some really interesting ones about serial killers and hauntings-- Oh! Would fantasy elements throw you off? The change of setting and the way you have to learn how such a different fictional world operates really helps to deepen the mystery. It can be a little frustrating how the storytelling has to keep you a few steps behind the main character, but it certainly keeps you from spoiling it for yourself too early!

For a moment, Wanderer is thrown by how delighted Heizou is by this. It...almost reminds him of himself, back with Niwa, and the boy, and even Niwa himself in some respects. It almost pisses him off but...it doesn't.

It's....charming? In a way? The hell.]

Everything here is a fantasy world to us, you know. A story that takes place in a fantasy realm is fine.

[For once, Heizou doesn't immediately notice Wanderer's reaction. He's way too caught up in thinking about all the mysteries he's been reading since he got here.]

You're not wrong about that! In that case I'll definitely have a decent amount of books to lend you. The fantasy ones are all part of a series, and I haven't found all of them just yet but you're of course welcome to the ones I haven't finished yet! What about comics? Have you ever read a comic book before?
