Owl Rescue
✵ MINI EVENT: OWL RESCUE ✵
Late in the month, the blizzard has reached its peak and the skies seem strangely dark and ominous, a soft jingling of bells followed by deep, baritone voice echoes through the skies.
With a mighty bellow the gusting winds clear and for a moment the morning skies seem beautiful and bright, as if the strange blizzard storm had never appeared at all. And then, in perhaps questionably late fashion, a large man dressed in red and astride a giant reindeer descends down to the central plaza.
"Ho ho ho! So this is where that bastard's been trying to hide, eh? I'll give it some credit—it chose a powerful world for its mischief…even if it could still use some work. And it's still just a baby—miracle it's lasted this long." The man, many of which will recognize as the fabled Santa Claus turns to look at the still run down buildings. For a man who is known to being "jolly" and full of holiday spirit, he looks as if he's about to head into war with the large axe at its his side and hardened expression. Just as he's about to say more, he clicks his tongue as a loud SCREEEEEECH is heard in the distance.
"But it won't be around much longer if you kids don't do anything about what's coming."
In the next moment, a large fiery owl large enough to overshadow half the town hovers in the air, the flames dangerously drifting from her feathers.
WHERE ARE THEY…
WHERE ARE MY CHILDREN!!
Her voice shakes the ground, the fire expanding outward as she gives one last heartrending cry filled with anger and agony.
PROMPTS
It's a confusing mess as two large figures have appeared at once, but it's clear that the owl's needs take precedence. With Santa's help, the owl will shrink small enough so that she can wait in the Plaza alongside and wait for those willing to find her eggs and owlets. But she watches over it with an anxious eye, the flames occasionally rising whenever there is a sound of one nearby. Everyone better work fast!
A. Talk with Santa. With Santa remaining with the owl, some may wish to speak to him while the others are working to find the baby owls. Although he plans to speak again once this is over, he will go ahead and answer any questions people may have. All questions may be asked in this thread, and as mentioned in the Game Notes, this will not be an IC thread. It is encouraged for questions to be asked now as it will help speed up dispensing information later.
B. Owl Egg Hunt. The eggs are scattered throughout the town Reverein, the nearby forests, and the lake. As if sensing their danger, the eggs have hidden themselves in various nooks and crannies, which can make it quite difficult to find. Hopefully no one accidentally tries to cook one. However, there are some clues. They will sparkle and will sometimes wiggle and roll out of their hiding place. They can also be "lured" out by friendly, positive emotions, or towards anyone that might exude a feeling of safety, security, and protection. However, if they're frightened the eggs will start to hatch. They sprout wings, legs, or even the beak to try and either escape or protect themselves. The eggs may also take on elemental characteristics, such as turning into a fireball, a block of ice, a giant rock, or a mini cyclone. Another threat will be the snoyotes as the sly buggers will follow would be rescuers to find the egg and try to snatch them and run off.
C. Owlet Panic. For the eggs that have already hatched, the owlets will be panicking and very emotional, causing a great environmental disruption around them. From fire storms to massive blizzards, the babies are out of control. Fortunately they're easy to spot—as well as hear. Their high pitched screeches can be heard from long distances. Calming emotions will be key in trying to soothe them, though dremoation abilities may be needed to get to them first.
D. Owlsitter. Whether already hatched or bursting out after returning to mother owl, the little owlets can be quite the handful. They're born already large enough to fly and while they aren't skilled, they will flutter about here and there. Essentially toddlers, they will get into anything that might interest them and cause mischief. With the owlets capable of casting elemental magic, that can pose a problem as sometimes it can go awry.
E. Snoyotes. The snoyotes are a cross between snake and coyote and they rely on their stealth skills rather than offensive power. They will stick to the shadows and can camouflage themselves well. When they do need to fight, they are tenacious and will try to sink their venomous fangs into their assailant. The venom is paralytic and is potent and fast acting. Although not always enough to kill, if enough venom makes its way to the heart then there might be trouble. As mentioned they will follow those looking for eggs to try and snatch them first, but some may be hunting other eggs. It's not necessary to kill them, driving them off to the Wild Canyons will do.

Gone away are the reindeer
Out to play are the dreamers
To lead their return, we gather in snow
All to bring the lost presents home
In the shadows we can build a snowman
To protect the sleigh that's full and bright.
Mimics will attack, and we'll say, "No, man!"
Only the real presents here will do!
We'll raise our mugs to the fire
Raise our voices higher and higher
Then we'll slash through our foes
From head down to their toes
All to save this Christmas Wonderland
Out to play are the dreamers

Raise our voices higher and higher
Then we'll slash through our foes
From head down to their toes
All to save this Christmas Wonderland
In the city we can make some string lights
Beautiful and bright just like the stars
With a little magic, we'll be alright
And top everything off with just a Star
A star so big and bright
with magic all around
shining with all its might
making the world go 'round!
So come join us, all ye citizens
of this little festive town.
Guard your hearts with love and laughter,
and we'll bring this foul Grinch down!

» BONUS: FANG COLLECTION. Although highly potent, the venom stored within the fangs of the snoyotes can be used in anti-venom remedies (and poisons). Collecting them will need some care. In addition, defanging a snoyote is one way to keep it away for those unwilling to kill. Their fangs will grow back so would be an effective way to farm fangs later.

Talk with Santa

He may not have realized Santa showed up until the giant fire owl started screeching butLuca is politely asking Santa if that bastard has anything to do with a certain story eater he and some of his peers were fighting off back in the realm of stories. He does mention the story teller's letter (which has been kept in his old journal for reference purposes)... Oh, right. He should have asked sooner. How have things been going back there?(no subject)

Was there a reason Baba Yaga sealed an Eraser in a jar that cannot be broken from inside or out, and the lid appears to be magically sealed tight? He also found a recipe for the splash-potion she'd been brewing to reduce the inky nightmare puddles to nothing hidden under the label on the lid. Was that intentional, like she knew someone might need it?

jiang yanli ▶ the untamed
❰ to set the scene: you've come through the forest, perhaps on your own quest for an owl's egg, or otherwise just passing through. the movement that may catch your eye is slight at first, but then much more noticable as there's a swift blur in your periphreal vision, accompanied by the sound of wood being hit.
if you care to investigate what the sudden aggitation was, you'll find a snoyote pacing back and forth, around and around the side of a giant tree whose roots in parts have gaps of earth that have created space beneath them. all of the gaps are quite tight, though some may allow for a small human or larger animal to slip beneath — that's what jiang yanli herself did, in order to get to the egg that she saw glinting underneath. now with the egg much less concealed, the snoyote wants to claim it for itself.
the knotted and crossing roots show damage from where the snoyote has planned and executed a strike, whether in an attempt to snap at jiang yanli herself or to try and take out one of the smaller roots to create a bigger space. so far it hasn't found just the right spot, or else she would be no match for the beast up close. she hasn't yet cried out for help, both to avoid endangering someone else and to try and keep the egg craddled in her left arm calm.
— her other arm? if you help her out, and upon closer inspection, her forearm shows a long scrape: it isn't so deep that she's at risk of dying, but she's already incapable of much movement in the bones below where the tooth grazed her arm in motion. ❱
⇢ closed to housemates
❰ she's been home for about thirty minutes, and in that time she's been productive. the egg she's found now has a nest, made with scraps of cloth and washing rags, tossed into a clay pot to give it shape. she's started a pot of tea, manually: jiang yanli has made it a point to try and heat certain small things using magic, but the idea feels exhausting. fire in their designated place and clay kettle worked before and it shall work now.
what makes her nervous is how she should respond once one of her brothers arrives. she's sure that they will react in extreme ways, once she shows them her right arm is entirely immobile from the shoulder down. a bigger jacket that she'd gotten from town is covering the majority of her upper body, which was also useful for keeping the egg still and warm while she clumsily put together its new resting place with her one usable arm. it's not that she isn't also panicked about suddenly being paralyzed, but to upset her brothers...and how they're both very extreme, in sometimes similar ways...when it comes to her own problems, jiang yanli is never one to dramatize them.
once she hears one of them rustling outside the treehouse, she shifts on her stool at their table to turn and face them, though her right side is still angled away. ❱
Welcome home. ❰ a smile comes to her face, still flushed from the excitement of the morning. her gaze falls from her sibling to the egg on the table. ❱ I've found one of them — the owl's eggs.
B
So he starts silently twirling his saber, creeping closer. Now that he has a better view of what seems to be a person hiding in the roots, that changes everything.
Zhao viciously hacks at the snoyote in the hindquarters, catching it by surprise. He also yells to the figure obscured by the tree roots.]

Diluc Ragnvindr | Genshin Impact | OTA
I. RESCUE
a. Egg Hunt / Go Away, Snoyote, We Don't Want You.
[The first order of business is to retrieve eggs, as they are utterly helpless against predators and the environment. Luckily, even in cases where they're hidden the eggs themselves are not terribly difficult to spot with the way in which they sparkle and wriggle. The challenge is getting close enough to actually do the retrieiving, given the elemental protections they call up.
Diluc is currently standing near one such egg that's crackling with lightning and electricity. To approach with fire--either from his Pyro Vision or dreamotion energy--could trigger a nasty elemental reaction, so he's proceeding with caution.
Should someone get too close, Diluc will grab their arm and force them to a halt.]
There's something in the bushes. We need to be careful.
[That "something" is a snoyote, which is currently crouched in some nearby hedges and sizing him up. It's camouflaged well enough that Diluc doesn't know what it is, which only makes him especially wary.]
b. Owlet Panic.
[Of course, prioritizing egg retrieval doesn't mean he does so at the exclusion of the hatched owlets. As he comes upon the panicked creatures, Diluc will make every attempt to soothe and lure them to safety. One such owlet, currently perched in a tree and surrounded by frost, is glaring down at him.
This sort of situation requires words, so Diluc approaches with hands outward and no claymore in sight.]
I recognize that you're afraid, but I am no threat to you. I'm here to help.
[The owlet screeches at him in response.]
II. OWLSITTING
[After the worst of the chaos dies down, Diluc can be found trying to wrangle some of the owlets in the town plaza
as a treat. Even as they cause mischief, he's keeping up with them and correcting behavior with a calm-but-firm voice and smiling with a warmth that very few people get to see. One of the owlets has more or less decided that it would rather sit on his shoulder and play with his hair, and he simply allows it to.This is a man with a major soft spot for birds of prey. And it's clear that the owlets--now safe and with their mother within line of sight--have picked up on as much.]
III. WILDCARD
(( I'm down for whatever. Feel free to hit me up at
ii
She lands in the plaza near Diluc along with a pair of owlets, whom she's just flown around with for a spell. Now, the two seem to be rather caught with the idea of seeing what their sibling is up to with Diluc's hair, and Owlphi turns to watch them. She tilts her head inquisitively at the sight of the normally-stoic man letting birds play with his hair and even smiling about it.
She can't speak while in this form, but there's an expressive endearment visible in the large eyes of her giant owl form, and that says enough about what she thinks about it. ]

Madhuri Qalli | OTA
[This was for everyone searching. The anger and confusion that seemed to permeate only seemed stronger now from the mother owl's rage. She'd danced until her feet ached, and fought until she was sore. But she wouldn't stop. Madhuri had seen too much despair back home to let everything falter, even in a dream world. People existed here. They mattered.
So she went hunting for those eggs, and would see to the harsh punishment of the thieves responsible. Her eyes gleamed as she moved quickly atop a grassy knoll, her voice lifting and filling the air. The wind stirred and strange flowers that bloomed every color fought to rise beneath her heels and slowly formed a field within radius of her. She'll be this godsdamned beacon!]
Higher, oh higher
E'er our vows endure and remain forever strong
Standing tall in the dark do we carry on-
[Something sparkled in the distance. Now's your chance! Will you follow it? She seemed to be moving in pursuit, the flowers sprouting in the prints she left in the grass.]
Higher, oh higher
Carrying our song, cradled fast within your arms,
That its chorus might ring for all!
[She moved swifter. Those who overhear may feel an odd swiftness of foot, a sharpness in the senses... was Madhuri some form of bard? Jury's out on that.]
[II. Snoyote Hunting]
[For the first time in so long, Madhuri clutched the red crystal in her hand and felt a flood of old, familiar emotions sweep over her mind. If it were given a voice, it would have said, "It's about fucking time, girl... NOW will you call on me?"
With a rush of light, she swapped from Dancer to Warrior. Frills and skirts made way for leather and furs, heeled boots ending in hooked claws and a pelt sash that ended in a long, fluffy tail that seemed to move on its own.]
...I'll keep them busy! Grab that egg and check if it's safe.
[Time to enrage. Focus. Your foes are ahead of you. The whites of her eyes inked over into black as she noticed the three snoyotes were beginning a formation. Purple irises burned amid the dark as the xaela bellowed a warning roar, the sound far too animal to be something from her vocal cords. The snoyotes momentarily froze, heads high in alarm. She didn't give them time to process any further than that, as she hunkered her body low and rushed them, a battleaxe as big as she is grasped in both hands.]
[III. Toxic]
[The issue with sinking deep into the thrill of battle was the aftermath, the coming back down to earth after that high. It reminded her of all the little aches from blows taken, her adrenaline starting to ebb. It reminded her that, somewhere in clashing with any and all of the egg thieves she came across, one had managed to tag her left hip, a hefty graze with venomous fangs.
It was like her left leg was growing heavy as concrete. She used her axe as a crutch, maintaining her balance as something precious lie wrapped under the other arm: She'd found another egg. She'd lost count of how many she'd tracked down...]
Go... get this back to its mother...
[She would all but thrust the egg into your hands.]
I'll hold off any of the hunters that come sniffing. I can give you that much, at least...
II
[Watching someone do a fancy transformation in order to kick more ass? Okay, fair. He will go check on the sparkly wobbly egg.]
Hey hey hey, stop twitching around.
[Wait. It's got to be positive or some shit like that right? With a sigh, he rolls his eyes behind his shades and tries again.]
Do you want to be safe inside a tree nice and warm? All snuggled up and don't have to worry about anything until you're ready to be born? I got just the place.

Rokurou Rangetsu | Tales of Berseria
...Okay, so. Given that we now have a giant fire owl outside, I should STOP trying to boil this giant egg I found in my kitchen, right?
[No worries, he did indeed take the egg out before it got too hot, but a second message is popping up.]
Update, the eggs is fine, but it feels really hotd---f
[The end is essentially just scratched out and one can only assume something "terrible" happened. Or he dropped it. Those near his treehouse will notice smoke coming out of the window and it being fairly hot. Guess which kind of element the egg he's found has taken a fancy to?]
Wait, don't run!!
[...And has decided to hatch its legs and start running all over the place in his house and possibly out the door. Time to chase down an egg!]
ii. Egg Hunt. When not accidentally trying to cook an owl egg, Rokurou will be out trying to find the eggs. From all over town to traversing through the forests, no spot will be left behind! Especially places in town. Don't mind him if he pokes his head through someone's window to make sure they don't make the same mistake he did.]
You haven't any weird, magical eggs have you? And if you haven't heard about what's going on, I'd avoid cooking eggs until this blows over.
iii. Owl
sittingTraining. To maybe make up for the almost catastrophic mishap, Rokurou will try to help look after the little owlets flying around the plaza where they're all being gathered.]Whoops, can't have you roaming off too far!
[He'll catch a rather windy one and bring it back.]
I know what you kids need... Let's play some games! Hone your skills so those snoyotes will think twice before tackling your eggs again!
[And so Rokurou will have started to set up a very bizarre looking training course for the little owlets to try and attack and use their magic on. Several barrels and crates can be found scattered about, along with pillows and sandbags for the little owls to attack—or perch on. Crude, plush rats that squeak tied with string to be pulled along are also around, and he even makes a few fake snoyotes out of pillows and barrels. These get an occasional singe from the mother.
...It's only a matter of time before he wonders if they could wield a blade so someone better supervise him.]
⋚ b. snoyotes + bonus
Hmmmmm. Maybe we should try luring them out with some eggs. If don't want to use real ones, we could try those egg looking ornaments those trees—ents? Gave us last month for Christmas decorations.

Hunter De Vil | 101 Dalmatian Street | OTA
[ Just his luck, Hunter has to go hunt down some animals again. At least this time it’s their mom looking for her babies… And he only has to steal it back from predators… And, like, it’s their mom, so he’s 99% sure getting the job done won’t lead to tragedy or anything… And they’re literally eggs.
This already seems a lot easier than the dalmatian thing in more ways than one. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, for one, he didn't think that he would be doing an Easter egg hunt! You might find the kid trying to climb up a tree with a large sack under one arm. There's an egg nestled between the branches just out of the kid's reach. ]
Come on... This would have been way easier if I had better gear... [ That puppy pump he had at home would be so useful right now, but alas. ]
#LIVEBAIT
[ It doesn't take long for the boy to figure out the eggs can be lured out with soothing emotions. That's kind of hard to come by after stumbling through a couple of dreams that hit a bit too close to home, among other things.
But there's always a plan B. For this, he'll invite someone he thinks might radiate positive vibes to come look for eggs with him. When he comes across one of those sparkling, wriggling eggs, Hunter points it out: ]
You see that egg over there? Get it to come closer so I can nab it.
#PESTCONTROL
[ Hunter has taken potential egg thieves into account. While he may not be trained in fighting, he can trap the little bastards so other people can deal with them. Those spider threads he'd been collecting for Madame Blackbird make excellent rope material, so he's gone and set some snare traps near the forests and lake. The idea is that, should a snoyote try to sneak up on him or anyone else looking for eggs, there's a chance it will get caught and put out of action.
Of course, these are very simple traps camouflaged by leaf litter. Anything could get stuck in it. Like a runaway owlet... Or a person... ]

(Anya is asking Hunter if she can help him out as she is also trying to retrieve the eggs for Big Mama Owl. Pooka barks at the egg in question, wondering if it could get said egg’s attention.
Having spent time climbing trees a lot back when her family ruled over Russia and later during her time in the orphanage, this should not be a problem for the surprisingly athletic Grand Duchess to find the eggs for the distressed mother owl.)

Vanitas | Kingdom Hearts | ota
[ Vanitas really isn't overly concerned by the large, flaming owl. However, looking for the eggs is probably the least problematic thing that people have been tasked to do. At least in his opinion returning a couple of eggs isn't really asking for much? Of course it won't really be that easy...
He's not really good at the whole "positive emotions" thing at the moment. Rather, the nightmares have been leaving him in a foul mood and somewhat sensitive.
So he'll see an egg or the sparkling presence of one and just... Stay back. Maybe point someone in the right direction rather than take it himself. ]
( Owlet Panic )
[ Ironically, it's not really the owlets that will need to be watched closely. It would seem, as Vanitas meanders around areas that they are going into a frenzy, they calm down. In fact, it's almost like the panic and confusion are being sucked right out of them. All those nasty little emotions that make these creatures act out are being taken in by Vanitas and a small handful of Unversed in the area. They don't really have to do anything but stand there.
Which means that Vanitas is kind of. A bird magnet. For the moment. At least his arms and shoulders seem to be covered by the birds and he's looking rather put out himself. Although the fact that he's effectively cleansing the areas of negative energy and leaving bright patches of grass and butterflies ( during the day ) or lightning bugs ( in the evening ) might have something to do with that.
Yet his fingers twitch. Are the tips of his fingers darkening? Fingernails turning sharp while golden eyes seem to almost glow in the shade or in the dark? Nah, surely it's nothing.
ooc: So Vanitas can cleanse areas of negativity, but he absorbs it into himself. Which means he's a touch more at risk of becoming a Noctaere. Have fun.]( Snoyotes )
[ Actually this seems to be a better use of Vanitas' time and his skills. At least in his opinion. Because now he can get out his Keyblade and maybe work out some of those frustrations that have been piling up. A release, of sorts.
Buuuut wouldn't you know it, there's no such thing as holding back. Vanitas? Hold back? Pfft. While it may not be necessary to actually kill the creatures, that seems to be what he is doing with fast, hard blows with his weapon. He hasn't even started to use any other abilities.
It's just all raw physical combat that probably should be stopped. ]

Owl Egg Hunt
It's something he's learned a bit to ignore but then the Mother Owl started wreaking havoc and eggs are missing and it's just--yeah.
Ventus does pause when he sees Vanitas standing back and point in a direction and he just...stares.]
Wouldn't it be easier to get the egg yourself instead of waiting for someone to come by?
[It's a genuine question even as he moves in that direction, anyway. He can see the egg just a bit up ahead.]

Alastor | Hazbin Hotel | OTA
[If anyone asks, Alastor is just taking a casual stroll and enjoying the chaos of people freaking out over a giant angry owl who's lost her chicks. (Honestly, the giant owl sort of reminds him of Prince Stolas in his full demon form. Just a lot more on fire.)]
[The reality? Alastor is keeping an eye out for the eggs. And one of them happens to roll out of some brush towards him.]
Why, hello there! [He crouches down so he's on the egg's level.] You're making your mother very worried, you know! Let's see if we can't get you back to her, hmm?
[He runs a clawed hand over the sparkling shell as if patting the head of a lost child.]
Snoyote Attack!
[Alastor has managed to pick up two more eggs, and he's playing some jazz as he walks with all three eggs in his arms. Yup. A trip back to mama bird and everything will be fine.]
[His radio goes silent as he hears something, ears pricking up. The ears begin shaking in his arms so he carefully puts them down.]
It seems we have company. [He turns to face the five snoyotes that have shown up at the scent of seemingly easy prey. His ears momentarily twitch backwards at the sounds of the eggs continue rattling around...and did he just hear a crack?] Now, now, don't you worry. [Alastor's shadow arcs up from the ground as Alastor summons a ball of flame into his hand, grin widening to malicious proportions.] This won't take long...
Hatching and Owlet Panic
[Good news: Alastor wins with a score of five dead snoyotes and three living eggs!]
[Bad news: Those eggs are hatching and the owlets inside are panicking.]
Easy! Easy! [His ears are twitching wildly as he tries to project a calming tune to get the owlets to calm down and rest easy in their shells. It's not working as the owlets are too busy panicking from the sounds of a fight they'd heard not moments before.]
[The eggs crack open to reveal the little panicking owlets literally ablaze.]
Oh, applesauce.
Owlsitting
Come along, you three. Your mother's waiting.
[After finally getting the owlets to settle, Alastor is more or less herding the three owlets back towards where the giant flaming owl is waiting. He's a bit tired and resigned to the situation. Particularly with one owlet having perched on his head and periodically nipping at his antlers and ears with its beak, prompting him to wince. His shadow is keeping the other two from straying far from Alastor. He's still smiling and playing some old jazz tune, but he looks like he just wants to lay down and take a nap.]
[Dealing with these owlets are tiring, okay?]
Owlet Panic
(Pardon the random walk in but Anya is lucky enough to be within Alastor’s line of sight to (try to) help him when the owlets hatched. She has never seen baby birds on fire before, so this is definitely new territory for her.)
Excuse me, is there anything I can do help you with these little owlets on fire right now?
(Pooka meanwhile looks rather dumbfounded at the scene as he cranes his head to get a better look on fire owlets.)

Bunta Marui | Prince of Tennis | OTA
[ Some people are practically positive emotion generators and Marui happens to be one of them. Couple that with natural big brother energy and finding these eggs is no trouble. Carrying them? That's another matter.
The first egg alone is an armful, and rather heavy for someone of his admittedly unimpressive strength level. So when he finds-- or rather attracts-- a second one on his way back, it's a bit of a pickle. ]
Hey, perfect timing. [ He calls out to a passerby, a bit of strain in his voice. ] Try and carry one of these!
Owlet Panic
[ After delivering the two eggs back to the plaza, Marui goes wandering in search of another. However, what he finds instead is a rather distraught owlet fluttering around and causing tornado-like winds that make it impossible to approach. Marui tries shrinking in on himself for less wind resistance, but even that isn't enough to keep from being blown back.
Its screeching seems to have attracted the attention of someone else. With one arm in front of his face to shield it from the wind, he calls out in a raised voice so the sound will carry. ]
Any ideas?
Owlsitting
[ The baby owls are as chaotic as they are cute, which is pretty much the combination that defines some of Marui's favorite people-- both in Songerein and at home. It's an adventure to keep them out of trouble now that they're safe in the company of their mother. One of them has blizzarded some ice patches onto the ground while another causes tremors with every step despite its size.
Then there's the tornado machine. Marui has managed to get that one to settle down with him and is bearing the clamp of its claws into his legs as well as he can. It hasn't drawn blood (yet), but those talons are still sharp! Even so, better to have this one stationary given the kinds of winds it makes when it flaps around. He's petting down its back to keep it calm. ]
Like a convention of balance stealers, isn't it?

She's not one to ignore such a direct call to action though. She blinks, too tired to say no. ]

Two of them, already? ]

Regardless, she gives a couple of soft hoots up at the eggs in similar hopes of getting it to wobble into her and/or Thoma's waiting arms (or wings), but if even Thoma's gentle voice can't convince it, it may be time for a different approach. She tilts her head at him in question as she lowers herself a bit beside him, her wings splayed out, as though to invite him to climb onto her back. ]

The Knight | Hollow Knight
[The weather was pretty bad deep in the forest, to the point that it might be getting difficult to go much further in. But it's clear that something had happened here, there's occasional bodies in the snow. Snoyotes in fact. Whether they are dead or unconscious is questionable.]
[But should anyone venture to where most of the bodies were gathered, something senses them nearby and lunges out from the darkness. Believing it was possibly another snoyote here to take the children. They weren't taking that many chances, not in this snow and so many attacks already.]
[There was no words, but there was a sort of feeling coming from the aggressor that they were dead serious. That this area was being protected. ...However it seems no harm will probably come should they leave.]
D. Owlsitter
[Once out of the cold... or just out of the wilderness in this case, they remained in the plaza will all the other owlets that had been returned thus far. Partially in case they were needed for anything else, but maybe also partially because they had no where else to be or do.]
[These owlets are possibly bigger than them though, if not about the same size. It could also just be due to all that fluff. Which is all just a fancy way of saying if you didn't know there was a non-owl in the owl pile, you probably wouldn't notice it. Perhaps less of an owlsitter and more of an owl sat on. At least its warm though.]

[Surprise me..!

Oh...!
[ With a fluffy little owl in her arms, she leans further in once more for a closer inspection. Her head tilts almost in synchronization with the owlet's as she looks on with equal parts curiosity and concern. ]

Yujin Mikotoba | The Great Ace Attorney
[After speaking with Saint Nicholas- Sorry, 'Santa', and listening in on some of the other conversations, Yujin takes a seat on a bench on the edge of the town plaza. He's got a lot of information to process. By now, some of the eggs and owlets have been returned to momma owl, but the babies refuse to stay put. Before long, one of them has settled on the bench by Yujin's side. And then another. And another...
Within ten minutes, five owlets have flocked to him. They clamber over his lap, hop onto his shoulder and nip at his sleeve. He doesn't mind, really. If anything, he finds it endearing. They're nice and warm, as if a small fire is bubbling within them. The comfort he experiences affects the owlets themselves, calming them down to some degree.
They'll have to be taken back to their mother eventually, though.]

And thus it is that he suddenly finds himself with a couple of small fluffy barnacles hanging off his clothing. He stops with a sigh and turns to fix the little creatures with a glare.]
