Halloween Nightmare: Part I

✵ HALLOWEEN NIGHTMARE: PART I ✵

It comes without warning. A few nights before Halloween, when the moon is supposed to be full and bright, it suddenly blinks out and turns pitch black. Even the stars seem to be covered, casting a strange darkness all over Songerein. While the fae sense something unusual, the newly arrived people—the dreamwalkers—all suddenly fall over asleep as if struck by a curse. Thick, black fog covers the town and one by one their bodies glow bright before converting into dream energy and disappearing into their crystals.

Alarmed, the tapirs investigate, some plunging deep into the realm of dreams to try and find wherever they went. What they discover is something they had never seen before—a massive dreamscape rippling through the dimensions, one full of life, color, and sound. It's as if its own little world, unaware that a giant group has dropped in uninvited. Before the dreamwalkers can be too confused, the tapirs send out a message via their crystals:

Careful, Dreamwalkers! We don't understand what's happening, but you have entered an unusual dreamscape, one where everyone here believes this to be their own world. It feels unstable, to the point where if too much disturbance happens it could turn this entire place into a nightmare! One that could affect Songerein!

Good news is it looks like they're throwing a huge party, so maybe if you just have fun and help out, it will pass quickly and you can return. There's a strange barrier that prevents anyone from coming out of the dream normally...but, we'll figure it out! Just try and have fun, okay?

That might be a tall order for some, but there's little choice. Already everyone has been outfitted in appropriate costumes that serve as "disguises"—some more realistic than others—allowing them to blend in. So long as they follow along and don't cause any disruptions, the locals won't bat an eye. However, the moment someone behaves oddly, such as speaking of other worlds or not behaving in a "frightfully ghoulish" manner when expected, the locals will start eying them with suspicion and small cracks will start to form in various places, most notably the sky where are a large grinning moon watches over everything. Fortunately it will take quite a lot before things get dangerous, but care is needed.

Now, what kind of "dream" have they been pulled into?

I . HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

The town is bustling and looking quite alive despite its rather monstrous and undead citizens. The architecture style is a mix of ye olde Victorian England and steampunk—with bones and spiders and a lot of sharp things, of course. There is a giant cauldron in the center that acts as a fountain, and while touching it won't harm anyone, drinking it might cause a few green, gassy, flammable hiccups and fire breath that goes away after a while. There is even an odd story going around about a crazy witch called Baba Yaga and many wonder if something strange will happen again like all the other years. For now it's advised for everyone to carefully explore while perhaps getting into the various festivities. It's their time of the year after all!

A. Costume Party. Everyone's in a costume and there are plenty of contests and parades for everyone to show theirs off. All are encouraged to do their best and act like whatever they're dressed up as, and some may even be pulled into random impromptu "acts" for fun. Cute little black cats with witch's hats will hop on their heads and drop some special candy as a "reward." What could be so suspicious about this? (Yes, this is the cursed candy mentioned in the official details.)

» BONUS: MAGIC THREADS. Some locals need a little help with their costumes and request special thread that can be harvested by the ghoul worms—an underworld version of the silkworm. However, getting to them can be a bit...tricky. The worms need to be scared out of their wits for them to spit out the thread. The next difficult part is capturing the thread and not having it all over one's face. There are also some rainbow spiders who produce colorful threads, but they need to be sweetened up before they'll pass over their hard work.

B. Beware the Food. Of course the food is to die for. No, really, be careful of the food because there's a high chance it's been cursed and will cause one or more of the following: 1) suffer severe food poisoning; 2) become an undead zombie; 3) turn into a ghastly toad; 4) have a Wicked Witch experience and turn into a puddle of goop to then become a slime monster. Except for the first one, these changes are all painless and will just make the affected feel funny for half an hour. For the food poisoning, drinking from the Cauldron in the center of town will cure it, but for those who don't want flame breath, creating a certain witch's brew could be concocted.

» BONUS: WITCH'S BREW: Gather the following items to create the special witch's brew that will not only cure the food poisoning but other maladies as well. Just need a few tails of newt, a couple eyes of mud guppies, and the nails of opossums. Fortunately there are quite a few stores that carry these items so no one has to harvest them themselves, though they are certainly welcome to. If buying, the payment requires five chocolate coins. The catch? All the kids have the chocolate coins so need to somehow get them. Maybe the trick-or-treating can help.

C. Jack-o-Lanterns. There are pumpkins everywhere and an assortment of activities to do with them. From simple pumpkin carving for decoration, to loading them into catapults to see how far they go, to avoiding flaming pumpkin heads flying around causing mayhem. But the real buzz is carving pumpkins for the newly "arrived" skeletons that have unearthed to join the populace. As part of a celebration these special pumpkins will be worn by the new skeletons so the more decorated the better.

D. Trick-or-Treat. Of course there is candy being handed out and thrown out to be passed to the younguns. Some adults may find a giant skull head full of various candies shoved into their hands so they can give them to any excited gremlins. Just beware, those little monsters are more than happy to pull a trick instead, so tricks are also fair game as long as they are eventually given candy. In fact, tricks and pranks are highly encouraged, to the point that some are throwing competitions. Should anyone try to withhold the goods, however...well, curses from children are the worst.

E. Candy Corn Golems. Some candy corn will randomly come together and transform into candy corn golems. They range from knee-high that can do little more than just do feeble punches and throw goop on people's legs to a towering ten foot monstrosity that is ready to launch candy corn missiles that explode into harder gunk that can completely imprison anyone. While some locals might find their presence a suitable chaotic ingredient, many don't as they have no idea how these creatures came to be as the usual hexes and underworld magic seem to have little effect. Yet they are susceptible to the dreamwalking abilities… Most will cheer when a golem is defeated, but some may become suspicious.

» BONUS: FIND THE SOURCE. Even though the golems can be taken care of, the more that only the dreamwalkers can destroy, the more unnecessary attention and suspicion is aroused. Best to figure out where to find what's creating them and put an end to it. Whispers of a "mad witch" and "crazy hag" can be heard and curiously, some of the smaller golems trundle down away from the main chaos through some small alleys. Following them will lead them to a strange house, the magic spilling out unnatural. There are drag marks and broom bits that are tinted blood red and inky black. Stray, tattered pages and black smears can also be found around the house. Attempts to enter the house result in being blown back into the town center cauldron, however as long as attention is drawn to the house then suspicion will reduce from the dreamwalkers.

II. GRAVE WEDDING

Just outside of town is a vast graveyard that stretches for a considerable distance, the madly grinning moon seeming to loom and be its brightest here. Although mostly consisting of graves, there are also large mausoleums and a dilapidated looking chapel. Many live within the graveyard and those not participating in the town's festivities are having their own little parties. There's even a wedding being held at the chapel. However, not everything is going well and a helping hand—connected or not—will be appreciated.

A. Haunted Wedding. What a spooktastic night for a wedding between a bootiful bride and her ghastly groom. The chapel may be old, riddled with holes, and look ready to fall apart at the slightest breeze, but it's the ideal venue for all wicked weddings. With the pews filled with other residents of the town, it looks to be a perfect celebration—until red-eyed goblins suddenly burst through the already broken windows and holes. Some of the guests are quick to fight back (with some thinking it part of the event), but these goblins seem stronger than usual. Anyone who is nearby will be asked to help and get rid of them before they really do wreck the wedding!

» BONUS: GOBLIN SEALS. No matter how many are defeated, more just keep appearing to take its place. A gravekeeper shouts out that they witnessed the goblins appearing near a dark corner of the cemetery, a place known to be heavily cursed and filled with hexes due to all the witches buried there. Those who investigate will find all the graves dug out and each one with a summoning seal inside. Fortunately they are easy to destroy by either casting magic or even chucking rocks to break up the symbol. Destroy them all to stop the goblins, but be careful as some will pop up in the process.

B. Grave Situation. The graveyard is considered as one of the largest neighborhoods with many finding their underground or stone mausoleum homes quite comfortable and even luxurious in some cases. As part of the Halloween prank, tombstones, grave markers, and even coffins have been moved around and the residents are not happy. They'll need help replacing everything, but be warned—some pranksters have gone beyond and boobytrapped some. Triggering the traps will produce sticky webbing, glitter paint, and "bloody" marshmallow slime (it's just dyed red).

» BONUS: HOSTILE NEIGHBORS. There are some undead and skeletons lying in their earthly beds and cramped coffins that will not take too kindly to being disturbed. They are quite aggressive and will outright attack anyone who comes near their homes, even if they aren't in the right place. They need to be restrained and it would be bad news if anyone is severely harmed or worse—destroyed. Careful examination will reveal a strange slip of paper with what looks like a hex symbol on their heads, and if removed they will pass out but return to normal.

C. Nightmare Graves. Some tombstones will have writing that will mysteriously change to words that will provoke those who read it and send them immediately to a nightmare. It could be something completely random or it could be personal with the severity also random. Some dreams will be reflected on the tombstone similar to the crystals while others can be entered via dreamwalking. In either case, the dreamer's body will be lying in repose in front of the tombstone, which will have a line of "Do not disturb" along with cryptic words related to the nightmare.

» BONUS: NOCTAERE. The longer someone stays in a nightmare, the greater the risk in either attracting noctaere into the dream and out into the dreamscape and for the dreamer to become a noctaere themselves. It could be a partial or full transformation, depending on how strong the nightmare and how sensitive the dreamer is. Dreamwalkers must help try to stop the change before it's too late by attempting to change the dream or calm the dreamer. But if the dreamer turns into a noctaere and starts causing havoc within the dreamscape, then they must be subdued physically with dreamotion abilities.

Part 1
Costume Party

[Honestly, Alastor isn't sure if he should be annoyed or amused. Being a demon and dead, he already fits right in with the Halloween theme. It's a bit dull, to be honest.]

[However, if he wanders into dark enough areas, he'll become a shadow which is far, far more entertaining! Though perhaps it won't be so for anyone who happens to wander by what seems like an empty area...]

Jack-o-lanterns

I've never done this before! Halloween wasn't as widely-celebrated when I was alive!

[Alastor is a deft hand with a knife. And scarily efficient as he clears out pumpkin guts and carves disturbingly-wide smile after disturbingly-wide smile.]

Candy Corn Golems

[Alastor is laughing with delight, baiting the golems and in essence toying with them. True, he doesn't have most of his powers here, but there's nothing like a little fun!]

[Sorry if you get caught in the crossfire.]

Part 2

Nightmare Graves
((OOC: The nightmare is in its own post here but if you want to be chatting with Alastor up until he falls into it or just stumble across him, here's a prompt for you.))

[Alastor is wandering through the gravestones when one catches his eye. Unlike the others, it doesn't seem to have anything written on it. Curious, he kneels down beside it, brushing off some of the moss to reveal a message.]

"Your days are numbered." Well, that certainly sounds...familiar...

[The world seems to spin for Alastor as he collapses against the stone, eyes staring blankly ahead as his spindly body is half-draped over the grave marker. As time passes, his eyes shift into black voids and his tiny antlers have grown from four points to six. Yet he himself doesn't wake, trapped in a terrible nightmare of an unending Execution Day.]

[The crystal on the gravestone glows red, backlighting the image of a fearsome angelic form.]

[Ferran, much to his dismay, has taken on the form of that which he apparently hates the most: a fairy.

But not the sparkly-winged, nature-loving sort—he fits the atmosphere of the place well enough. His too-large, bright red eyes are more unsettling than cute, his teeth, nails, ears and elbows are sharp enough to cut someone, and his large wings are torn like a half-dead moth's. Still, his fluffy collar and antennae could be called cute, for anyone who appreciates that kind of thing. Just... maybe don't tell him that. Strangely enough, the normally-black cracks on his face are the same red as his eyes, as if he were made of gemstone rather than flesh and bone, making a stark contrast with his dream-induced paler complexion.

He has no intention of blending in, however, even if his appearance seems to suit the place. Like hell those dream eaters don't know what's going on, and he's not going to take their word for anything. Any "locals" who ask him participate in the dreamscape shenanigans are scowled and cursed at until they leave, he obviously avoids even looking at anyone vaguely rotting, and any candy that's shoved on him is immediately dumped on the nearest spooky children. He was already cautious enough about the food the tapir and other fae provided—why would this be any different?]

I.C [The pumpkins, though... even if he's not exactly in a festive mood, there's something about the hands-on work that goes into carving one that's appealing. Once he's gotten a hold of one and the appropriate tools, he sits down in a less crowded area and gets to it, an idea already in mind. He starts with some lines to mark pointed towers like those seen in the dreamscape town, and hopefully he ends up with something like those multi-layered ones... He's not exactly an expert with carving, but he might as well spend the time they're apparently waiting doing something soothing, and the worst that can come of it is a shoddy dream pumpkin that's going to disappear anyway.]

II.A [The news of a wedding draws him to the "chapel," where he ends up flying up and sitting in the rafters to avoid any unwanted attention. Ultimately, it means he has a great vantage point when the ceremony is disturbed by violence. The sight of it makes him angrier than he would have expected, and almost instinctively, he snaps his fingers in the direction of one of them, cursing the attacker to trip over its own feet, and perhaps saving whoever it was about to strike.

He grits his pointed teeth, glaring at the intruders with his own red eyes.]

Get... out!

[ooc: he will be searching for the source after a bit of defending, for anyone interested in that!]

II.C [There's already a dark haze around Ferran by the time anyone comes across him, lying dead to the world in front of one of the gravestones, labeled:

YOU WERE ALREADY A MONSTER.

Underneath the words, the headstone reflects the image of a dark city block, empty aside from a group of colorfully-costumed teenagers, a dark caped man, and Ferran himself, standing between them. The man steps forward, placing his clawed gauntlet on Ferran's head almost affectionately. He says something to the young man with a sly smile on his face, and the others facing him seem to object with varying degrees of worry and anger, but Ferran merely brings a hand over his necklace, a dark energy crackling around him for a moment.

Instead of donning a costume like the others, however, he doubles over, collapsing to the ground as the energy circles out and back into him. Black and red crystal starts to form over his hands, making jagged claws of them; it spreads from his feet and chest as well, slicing open his clothes and replacing them with a mockery of armor.

Judging from the image, he's screaming. It's only natural that someone would want to jump in and try to help.]

[ooc: As a note, I intend to have Ferran become a noctaere for part 2, so he can't be "saved" at this time!]

Nier | Nier

1. costume party
[During all the festivities Nier can be found wearing an elaborate costume of a vampire. The outfit consists of a black cape and suit. It's not something he typically wears. This entire thing feels so jarring to him that he's left speechless for a decent while. An expression of complete and utter confusion makes its way to his face. Is all of this necessary? He doesn't understand why the dreamscape is changing so much. Maybe he just has to deal with it somehow. He always manages to pull through a difficult situation even if he doesn't get what's going on.

A small cat crosses his path. Nier stops to pet it a few times because it seemed lonely to him. Moments later the kitty drops a candy or two.]

These look like treats for a child. You shouldn't eat sweet things before dinner. It'll ruin your appetite.

[Clearly he's never heard of Halloween before. He looks up and stares at your costume.]

What kind of outfit are you wearing?

2. Jack o Lanterns
[ There's a giant pumpkin in front of Nier. He's trying to carve away at it and make a Jack o Lantern like the others. Honestly, he never thought it would be so difficult to make. It looks easy at a glance.]

Damn, I didn't think it be so hard to carve a pumpkin like that. Is there a secret to making them look nice?

[He's been adding too much pressure with the knife while he's carving so his shapes lack any distinct details or features. Still, he pokes around the area and starts to check out other crafts curiously. Perhaps he's doing something wrong or not working things out like he's supposed to. Maybe he's even checking out your pumpkin carvings!]

3.  Nightmare Graves, cw; blood, death, murder
[Nier just happens to be walking around the graveyard outside of town. Whenever night falls the world always seems so different to him. He feels uneasy, uncertain and there's an overwhelming sense of dread that he can't seem to ignore. Something is not right. It's the words. The words on the tombstones. They're changing and moving on their own. When Nier reads the words he's overcome with a strange sensation and he's sent into a nightmare.

Inside of the dream a young man battles against strange shadow figures on his own. He's outnumbered and his odds of victory look slim. Nier strikes at monsters with his sword repeatedly and he moves as if he's possessed by this unstoppable anger.]

I'll kill you! I'll kill all of you! Just die!

[His dream is far from a pleasant one. Nier's angrily stabbing away at some shadowy creatures and doesn't even seem to realize it's a nightmare. It feels very real to him. Anyone can just enter the dream and that fact hasn't registered with him yet. It really looks like he could use some help.]

I : Arrival at the Festival
Tenn doesn’t even get a warning. Between one step and the next, in the middle of breath, he’s hit with a sleepy surge that he can finally put a name to: that feeling of being cast into a dream. And he ‘wakes’ to alien sensations, with everything towering over his head.

There's the taste of oil in his mouth – a mouth that doesn't feel like his own. A sandpaper tongue slides against teeth that are narrow and pointed. There’s tugging on his scalp that he immediately places with dismay - ears. But his greatest surprise comes in looking over his shoulder to find himself covered in white fur, with a long, graceful tail swaying behind him. Tenn stands very still, then slowly turns his head to stare at his front fe- paws as the truth sets in.

He's a cat.

His eyes widen, pupils dilated. Stay calm, he has to order himself. They were warned something like this could happen. All the same, his heart is hammering in his narrow chest as he takes a few four-legged steps forward, wobbling at first, his tail swinging to correct him. The wind ruffles his fur, cold where it touches his ears. An unpleasant smell taps his nose in the chill. Dry branches scrape against each other, hollow wails echo, louder cries and rough laughs swell from the town… it’s more worrisome than the previous dream or even the feast was.

But, he does know their goal this time. The tapirs’ report matches what some other dreamers said was normal in the realm they came from. They have to act in accordance to a story, and in the process, keep a lookout for that… creature. (‘Black skeleton’ is completely unhelpful here.)

Tenn proceeds with caution, ears and nose forward. It’s riotous, too real and too absurd. But his sense of humor soon rises. He chirps out a laugh watching a mummy chase their head. What a place… he saw something like this once, on some Halloween eve, at one amusement park or another. The glamour he so loves being immersed in… if he thinks of it like that, this shouldn’t be hard at all, right? This may not be a job in the normal sense, but it doesn’t mean all his acting classes were for naught.

He moves in that long, low, slinky way cats do, traveling quick and close to the ground. No one seems to mind him. In fact, some even step out of his way. Ah, cats were often considered guardians of the dead and witches’ familiars, bringers of both luck and curses. The mummy has retrieved their head, but now screams and runs from him in a most exaggerated fashion that has everyone roaring with laughter. What was that about? Tenn’s ears flick back and he hisses on impulse, but that just seems to entertain them even more.

Suffice to say, that routine does wonders in getting him into the center of town, and then he’s curiously poking his nose into all the many goings-on, looking very much a cat. Paws aren’t so great for crafting, but at the pumpkin area, you may find him looking over your shoulder, hopping onto your workspace, lying on your stuff… well, he has to stay in character, you know? Deal with it.

II : Magic Threads
Threads, huh… that woman, Madame Blackbird, said they should find things for her to sew with. Presuming this is like the last dream, maybe they can bring some things back with them? It’s worth a try.

Tenn approaches the webs with whiskers forward. He’s seen some outstanding work in the echelons of the entertainment industry, but these really are too beautiful… the webs are so delicate they could be soap bubbles, yet the weavers climb over them without concern. The colors really do look spun from a rainbow – it brings a smile to his face, and Tenn closes his eyes in a pleased blink.

Nevertheless, the spiders regard him warily – his long tail and his breath reeking of lantern oil. Tenn is careful to keep a modest, appreciative distance from their art. But he won’t give up!

When someone joins him, Tenn remarks, “That one on the left is so bright I really thought it was spun from sunlight.”

III : Candy Corn Golems
During his prowl of the streets, Tenn encounters a group of children swinging their fists at a gyrating mass of candy corn. For a moment, he mistakes it for good fun… until one little girl is knocked down, and another child cries as their candy is spilled. Tenn’s fur bristles along his back and tail, and he leaps to stand between the mutant candy and the trick-or-treaters.

“Shall I play with you instead?” Tenn’s tone is laced with ice, but he has presence of mind to remember his audience. It would be best if this were a show. There’s rustling behind him as the kids back away, and the golem’s shadow falls over him. Tenn begins to sing as he circles, moving in a teasing just-out-of-reach way.

“Ring around the roses. Pockets full of -!” He breaks off as a candy corn arm swings overhead, barely missing his ears. Tenn’s pupils narrow to slits, and he spits out the last part of the rhyme like poison. “Ashes, ashes, we all fall DOWN!”

The pieces of candy drop to the ground like puppet limbs with cut strings. Behind him, there’s a burst of delighted, retreating screams. Well… he didn’t get any chocolate coins out of it, but the fact that the children are safe settles his fur. Though, what was that… his singing has never had that effect before.

Tenn lowers his nose to the candy remains, stepping closer to give them a sniff. He gets a hint of something curious before the pieces draw together like magnets, gathering in formation once more. Tenn leaps away, his claws digging into the ground. How is he supposed to win this fight?!

Costume Party
(Upon entering the dreamscape, Anya discovers three things: one is that despite its appearance, the town is rather vibrant and full of life. Two, her feet looks hardly touch the ground, which does baffled her a bit. And finally, her outfit and appearance looks rather different from what she normally looks like. She has never worm the kimonos before, but it’s better than being stuck in the same outfit for weeks since her arrival.

Before she knows it, someone takes her by the hand and suggests her to join the costume parade since her outfit looks rather ravishing to them. Having deal with the Sugar Plum Beast and hosting plays with her siblings, Anya decides to go with the flow and happily participates the parade. You can see her dancing (just pay no attention to floating) or greeting the parade goers she comes across.)

Trick or Trick
(The Grand Duchess has no idea how Halloween is celebrated, coming from a time and place where it hardly exists. But how could she not ignore the children’s want to get some delicious candy? So Anya goes, or rather, floats around to find any she could find to give out to the children. Pooka follows after her, barking happily while sniffing out for the sweets.)

Well, do you have any leads to where we can find some butterscotch candies for the children? (She asks the person next to her as she looks for the candies.)

Haunted Wedding
(It is meant to be a happy day for the bride and groom as Anya observes the ceremony in the chapel. It may look old, but it doesn’t bother her: she is rather happy of the soon-to-be married couple. That is, until the goblins begin to crash the ceremony and cause chaos all over for everyone in the chapel.

Understandably, Anya is angry that those naughty red-eyed goblins have made it harder for anyone to celebrate someone’s big day. Wanting to help the distressed couple, Anya begins to unleash her ice powers at the creatures to keep them in place while Pooka assists her by barking at the goblins onto and biting onto their ankles, though she knows that she might need some help as many goblins keep coming in.)

Wildcard: Finding Fabrics for Madame Blackbird
(As soon as she finds the quest from a Madame Blackbird to find some fabrics for her shop, Anya decides that she will take on the quest and begins the search for the fabrics so everyone can get new clothes to wear.

Part 1
Costume Party

Well, at least this form means I'm less likely to be crushed underfoot.

[Azmuth isn't happy. He really had no interest in any of this "Halloween" nonsense. Still, the humanoid form was fascinating. Standing at about three feet tall, he'd gained quite a bit of height. Plus the creature he'd become seemed adapted more for underground life than anything else.]

Candy Corn Golems

Fascinating...

[Azmuth crouched over the corpse of one of the golems, large green eyes darting about.]

Cleverly-made. But how does it function? Is it purely mana manipulation guiding its movements or something else?

[Someone might want to snap him out of his fascination before one of the "living" golems takes his head off...]

Candy Corn Golems: Find the Source

[He has to know. He has to know. His mind won't rest until he has an answer.]

[So he's following one of the smaller golems back towards the source, floppy ears periodically pricking up to listen for danger as he continues on.]

Part 2
Haunted Wedding

More coming in from the right!

[Azmuth doesn't have any of his technology on him. He's still trying to figure out how this "dreamotion" energy is even supposed to work. However, this form has nasty little claws and teeth which he puts to good use when one of the goblins gets close. Still, his brain has always been his greatest asset, and he's shoving abandoned pews towards key points to try and both slow down new interlopers and funnel them into a "kill zone" of sorts.]

Help me get this into position!

Mirai Akarui | Original

[personal profile] fatedmahou 2021-10-09 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
What's This?;
[Mirai has no idea about the kinds of holidays that exist normally. If her world had holidays, it wasn't really relevant once things started to fall apart. Having no idea what to think about passing out suddenly and arriving in this new dreamscape, she was understandably confused. She had quickly noticed her appearance change but was more focused on the tapirs' message.

So there was nothing to do but to go along with it for the time being. The last thing she wanted was to see this place turn into a nightmare. It seemed serious enough to keep in mind. Taking a better look at her apparel, she realized that her dress wasn't the only thing that was new. Were those... fangs? Reaching for her teeth, they were real. Magic had a lot of different uses and forms back home, but nothing quite like this. She had no idea what a vampire was.

How was she supposed to know how to act to "fit in"? When the residents questioned her about the last time she fed, talking about physical food was clearly the wrong response.]

I-I'm sorry? What does blood have to do with anything?

[Somebody help her.]

Teeth Ground Sharp;
[The environment was much different from what she'd seen before, but at least she seemed to fit in after the initial confusion. Somehow (with help) she'd managed to keep suspicion down and realized what a vampire actually was. Instead, she had been more interested in all of the different creatures and monsters wandering around. Being given candy, Mirai didn't think anything of it at the time, but eventually she might wander up to your character, sniffing them.]

You smell good.

[Why was the smell of blood so enticing right now? Who knows. But at least she doesn't intend on snacking on you.]

Remains of the Day;
[After a while, Mirai chose to roam around this new dreamscape. The world looked so fascinating after all. After some time, she started to find herself in what looked to be a cemetery with a chapel nearby. She had seen her fair share of graves. In most cases back home, if she found a corpse and had the time to do so, she did what she could to make makeshift graves, but not everyone could be spared when she was constantly on her toes with Cadavers around.

While it gave her some mildly unsettling feelings, complete with a light, dark fog forming around her, she remained mostly calm. Instead of focusing that this was a gravesite, she decided to investigate the noise coming from the chapel. Finding herself at what looked to be a wedding, she instantly felt bad that she was coming in uninvited, but the residents seemed to believe in "the more the merrier".

Mirai had known of weddings but had never attended one herself. It was just so heartwarming to see so much love. She had been entranced in the ceremony when the goblins arrived. With these unfriendly guests, she did her best to ensure that she would take care of them. Staff summoned out of thin air, she was ready to fight if it means the ceremony could proceed as planned.

Although her magic didn't work out exactly as planned, she was still managing to defend the ceremony well enough. There seemed to be no end to the goblins though. The gravekeeper had been plenty helpful, so she sought to do the next best thing as she addressed the nearest dreamwalker who had opted to help out as well.]

There has to be some other solution. I'm going to check out this cemetery.

[Whether or not her companion chose to follow was their decision. The more the merrier indeed, but it wasn't like she hadn't dealt with matters on her own before. She had been pretty used to not having help.]

Tell Not a Soul;
[As somebody who has seen a lot of death in her time, pranksters disturbing the dead's final resting place really ruffled her feathers. All life was precious and the deceased should be respected. She didn't need unhappy residents to pitch in to help set things right, although the boobytraps and undead were making matters difficult.]

Please, we only want to help set things right. Why won't you listen?

[Using her magic to restrain any hostiles, she summoned vines to hold them in place. At the very least, she was no longer feeling weak and her self-healing was finally working as intended. With no more restraint on mana usage, they'd be able to be held down fairly easy enough.]

Do you have any ideas on how to stop them and calm them down?

The End of the Road; CW: Violence, Blood & lengthy entry
[After taking care of the tombstones, she'd realized that some of the words were different before. She hadn't paid close attention to what each tombstone said so it took her a while to notice, but eventually she'd realized that something was different. And just like that, anybody who might be around or wander by will find her collapsed on the ground in front of it.

OOC: For the sake of length, I posted the dream in a separate post to keep it from taking up a lot of space as a top-level. You can find it here. Responses will remain here on this top-level.]

a) magic threads.
[ Ramuda, donning a rather adorable witch outfit, is rather excited to help the locals out with their costumes. Finally, a chance to put his fashion expertise to use -- except the method of gathering the thread is a little...

...Hm. It's clear he's trying to be scary by leaping out at the ghoul worms where they least expect it, but the amount of thread that the worms are releasing is a bit. Abysmal. It probably doesn't help that his appearance is extremely unassuming; perhaps he simply isn't scary enough by nature. At one point he even squats down by one of the worms with a pout on his lips:
]

Aww, you're really gonna be stubborn about this? Come on, I'm really trying!

[ And, clearly, the worm could care less. Either way, Ramuda is looking a bit frustrated. Help may be appreciated. ]

b) haunted wedding.
[ Given that Ramuda hates actual spirits and the like, it's surprising that he finds himself observing the wedding. He's leaning against the back wall in the chapel, twirling a lollipop in his mouth, observing quietly until the goblins break in.

Ramuda's first reaction is to try to sneak away and out of this mess, but just as he's turning towards the door, a few goblins break in through the entrance, effectively blocking it. Now, he and the other bystander nearby (you!) are left to deal with this.

He clicks his teeth, eyes narrowing as he takes on some kind of fighting stance. It's not one that looks like he's eager to leap into battle, and his hand reaches in his pocket for something. Ramuda turns to the other person roped into all of this, turns his demeanor back into something sugary sweet, and asks with a smile:
]

Hey, hey~! Can you take these guys on? I can help!

c) nightmare graves. (SPOILERS for hypnosis mic)
[ Ramuda's noticed the various bodies laying on the tombstones, their souls trapped in their own nightmares. After going through others' nightmares himself, he's making an active effort to avoid that same fate. However, a stroke of bad luck is all it takes for him to notice a gravestone that's meant for him -- he stumbles over one of the bodies by tripping over their shoe, sending him forward and landing on his stomach in front of another gravestone.

The stone has a single word on it. A word that isn't pretty.

UNWANTED.

That's all he needs to be sent into his own personal hell, apparently, and Ramuda's hellscape is an interesting one.

Anyone who steps foot into Ramuda's nightmare will be caught in the back of an alleyway, the lights of a busy city up ahead. Ramuda is there, but...

...so are three others. Three other Ramudas. If it weren't for the horrified expression on the actual Ramuda's face, it'd be near impossible to distinguish him from the others based on appearance alone. One of them speaks, a grin full of malice on its face:
]

Yo, long time no see~! It's because you thought you were safe in your fancy little dream world, hm? Well, it's a good thing we can do cool things too, now~

[ The clone puts his palms up, and flames appear, hovering above them. The other Ramudas just giggle sinisterly, looking at him with murderous intent. Actual Ramuda, on the other hand, looks terrified. His voice drops low, quiet, void of all of the sweetness he usually has: ]

Shit... All I have is...

[ He reaches into his pocket again and pulls out his microphone, but he's outnumbered. Three to one. And they are creeping towards him, ready to strike. ]

d) wildcard.
[ If none of these work for you, feel free to toss another prompt my way! I'm flexible! ]

I A.|Costume Threads
[Fitting in wasn't going to be too much of a problem it seemed, ears flicking as eyes had roamed. Senses a little sharper and comfortable in the soft fabric and skin in a way, tail flicking behind her as Alice had taken the time to flex claws and all. before moving out.

Now, she had overheard the natives of this dream and the little issue with costumes being had. Likely trying to spruce up for the scaring games or whatever it was for top scarer.]

Well, aren't you the lovely creature? It looks as if you've don a lot of work.

[She had spotted a gathering of colorful webs, and one of the residents had dropped down to eye level with her. Tail tip flicking side to side—]

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving a helping hand, hm?

I B/D.| Witch's Brew & Candy, Too
[Her tail carried the skull with candy filled in it, wrapped around the 'bowl' and keeping it close to her as she had watched the trick or treating kids from a high perch. They had on them what was needed to purchase ingredients for those who had decided to sample the party foods.

She dropped down with a frightfully wide grin in front of a group that startled and screamed- before breaking out in laughter and dancing around her as that smile baring far too many sharp teeth shrunk down. Moving down to a crouch, sitting on her paw-like feet, skull filled with candy brought to rest on her lap.]

You got your tricks, so how about a few treats?

[Just needed to... collect coins from these ghoulish and ghastly children, right? While keeping them happy with tricks and treats...?]

II A.| What A Beautiful Wedding- To Seal Goblins
[Alice had found herself ghosting through some of the swarming red-eyed goblins as she fought, even going partially invisible as if she were more ghost than feline. This? She used to her advantage when the number of attackers didn't seem to go down, slipping through and out of the church.

There was some chaos out here as well, dodging here and there as wisps of shadow and red&black butterflies were left in her wake.]

We need to find where they're coming from! [Even vaulting over one of the slight larger goblins, some cat-like reflexes coming in handy as she was practically dancing circles around them. Making some of them dizzy and easier for others to deal with.]

Someone come with me, I could use a hand!

I. Costume Party

[ The "costume" Noel finds herself outfitted in is somewhat unusual, in that her clothes aren't anything to write home about, but rather it's her body that got adapted to the dreamscape instead ─ there are stitches all over her, and various patches of her skin don't quite match each other, almost as if she's been sewn together from several different body parts. Additionally, there's that classic metal bolt sticking out of her neck (no, it can't be removed ─ believe her, she's tried). Since the tapirs' advice was just to go out and have fun, she's trying her best to do just that, but it's not long until she faces a very serious problem. As such, she approaches the nearest person, clearly perturbed... and missing her right arm. ]

E-Excuse me! Have you, um, seen an arm lying around somewhere? I, um, I must have misplaced it, and now I can't find it...

[ Please, help her out before she loses another limb. ]

II. Cursed Candy

[ Crisis averted! At least temporarily. This calls for a little celebration, and lo and behold, she was even given a candy from a cute little cat passing by. Noel doesn't give it a second thought before popping it into her mouth and enjoying it, but as the cursed candy takes its effect, her expression slowly darkens, her shoulders slumping and eyes glazing over as she stands in the middle of the party, motionless. Oddly enough, the color of her eyes seems to have changed from green to blue after eating the received candy. She doesn't appear to have any interest in what's going on around her, but if you're close, you might hear her muttering to herself in a robotic monotone: ]

Hate... hate, hate, hate, hate... I hate... everything...

III. Magic Threads

[ Noel approaches the task of scaring the ghoul worms with as much determination as any other, but it quickly turns out it won't be an easy one. At first, she considered threatening them with violence, but truth to be told, the idea doesn't sit right with her, so she quickly dismisses it. She's seen quite a number of pranks and scares since her arrival here (for better or worse), however, so she decides imitating those might be a proper way to acquire the materials needed. She's not exactly confident in her ability to pull it off, though, and the way she moves her arms and talks comes off as stiff and awkward at best. ]

Um... Braaaaains...?

[ This has to be the weakest, least convincing zombie performance anyone in this town has ever witnessed. ]

IV. Hostile Neighbors

[ One of the recently departed (judging by the state of decay visible) residents of the graveyard is clearly looking for trouble, attacking anyone that comes near them, and Noel will not stand for it. As they approach the girl, she launches herself at the zombie, locking her legs around their neck and bringing them down to the ground, ripping the suspicious slip of paper off them with a swift pull. ]

Target neutralized.

[ Well, that was easy. Noel stands up, dusting her skirt off, before turning back to her victim and... bowing politely in an apology. ]

Ah! I'm really sorry, but there was no other way, so... please stay down, okay? Thank you for your cooperation!

[ There's no response, of course; there can't be one, seeing as the poor undead is out cold. But that doesn't stop Noel from looking over the body and making sure they're, uh, comfortable? Or at least that their limbs are in proper positions, even though it probably doesn't make a difference to them.

With her job done, she turns to whoever else is in the area, and gasps as she sees them approach one of the graves. ]

Oh, please be careful! There are traps around there!

[ Judging by the amount of red stains on her clothes and the glitter in her hair, she's already experienced the boobytraps first-hand, so she probably knows what she's talking about. ]

V. Nightmare Graves

[ Whoever is exploring this area of the graveyard, will find Noel passed out in front of a tombstone that, along with the "Do not disturb note", simply has the word DOLLS written on it.

The scene inside the nightmare is dark and damp; judging by the metal parts bent out of shape and broken pipes, this must have been some sort of construction that has since fallen in the state of disrepair. But that's not the feature that stands out the most in this place ─ that would be the fact that it's filled with nothing but coffins, dozens of them. Some orange liquid oozes out of them, gathering on the floor in pools. The covers of the caskets open with a creek, and lifeless, doll-like bodies of girls that look exactly like Noel herself fall out of each of them. Their eyes are dark and soulless, leaving no doubt that these are nothing but empty husks. However, after a brief pause, they start moving, crawling on the floor with contorted movements. ]

Why you?

[ They never move their lips, yet the voice seems to come from all directions, echoing in a distorted whisper. ]

Why not one of us?

[ As they get closer, Noel tries to take a step back, but stumbles and falls to the ground, shaking heavily. ]

I─ I'm not... I-I didn't...

[ She closes her eyes and covers her ears, trying to block out the accusing voices of the approaching dolls. ]

Somebody... Anybody... Please!!

( he's... not really happy about this but what can you do when it's expected that you blend in? normally, lio stands out like a bright iridescent light but when among others who are also equally costumed, he doesn't feel as noticeable. a perfect scenario for him whose pale furred ears stick out of his equally light hair and a tail that sways behind him with every step. at least lio is confident he can play the part of a cat after having a similar sticker slapped on him not too long ago?

as he walks through the town, it's a corner building close to the cauldron that catches his attention. the decorations no more festive than what surrounds it, but it's something very special that draws his eyes immediately to it: plants that sway from any kind of movement.

lio, having completely frozen still, is certain to be a roadblock for anyone trying to pass by. )

II.) candy corn golems
( he's never had candy corn before, but at first he's not very intimidated. why? because the first few that 'attack' lio are as big as candy corn actually is; they climb onto his boots and try to pound his ankles, but it feels like nothing as he kicks them away and does his best to stomp them out before they can get any further up on his body. it doesn't draw any additional attention, though some of the native to the dreamscape wonder if lio's just doing some kind of weird performative dance?

but not any longer. this next golem is enormous; every step it takes causes the ground to shake. it's easily five or six times lio's size and it has a bone to pick with one who's been bullying its smaller kin. the golem immediately fires off some of its candy corn bits, splashing lio with a glaze that glues his feet to the ground. )

Wh--- no no no!

( and without his ability to use his flames... the golem stomps closer and closer. struggling as hard as he can, )

III.) haunted wedding
( another night of firsts: a wedding, where he can watch from the farthest point. he's not sure what to expect... there's a bit of a thoughtful frown on his face as he thinks out loud: )

Wonder if I'll ever get married...?

( before he can go any further down a somewhat sobering path, it's the sudden eruption of activity that disrupts him as goblins break into the ceremony from all sides. while the guests of the bride and groom shriek and flee, lio grits his teeth and shakes his head. as one goblin attempts to tackle him, he meets it with a lunge of his own and slams it into an already broken down pew. )

Don't think so!

i. costume party
[Overall, Balthus finds himself pretty satisfied with the costume he's wound up with here— white wolf ears with fangs and a tail to match, which he figures is pretty fitting for a member of the Ashen Wolves. Though he's appreciated a number of other costumes in passing, he hasn't quite turned a critical eye on them just yet— some of them definitely look more real than others, but that's probably just a thing that happens here, right? After the animal features people had picked up back at the welcome feast, seems like people are able to change in all sorts of ways— or maybe their costumes are just really convincing?

Either way, it doesn't trouble him enough to waste too much time thinking about. If they're supposed to be blending in, then partying with the denizens of the underworld is definitely where his focus should be! He's stumbled across what's probably the third costume contest he's seen so far when a black cat wearing a witch's hat wanders in front of him, pausing to look upwards and mewl until it gets his attention.]

Huh? You talking to me?

[Cats and dogs may not normally get along, but this one doesn't seem to be bothered by his costume. He smiles as he stoops down to reach out and pet it, landing in a low crouch, and it gives a soft rumble of appreciation before dropping a few pieces of candy and scampering off to disappear into the crowd.]

Oh— alright then, kitty. Huh, left a parting gift, I guess.

[He reaches to pick up the candy that's been left behind, holding one piece of it between his index finger and thumb to examine more closely as he draws back up to his full height.]

Wonder what it tastes like...

ii. beware the food
[Between cursed candy and other tricks and not-so-pleasant surprises, one might think that Balthus might learn to be a little more careful about what he puts in his mouth. One would be wrong— he's never met free food he didn't want to try, and he's of the mind that he has to take advantage of any and all opportunities for free food he comes across.

His first samplings are without incident, and so without any thought towards caution, he grabs a pumpkin pastry in each hand and offers one to the person standing nearest him, his (now very real) wolf tail wagging eagerly in the process.]

Here, we gotta try these, they look amazing!

[What could go wrong?]

iii. candy corn golems (closed to leia)
[As dreamscapes go, Balthus is pretty sure they could have done worse— this place is a little spooky, sure, but the residents all seem to be having a great time, and some food poisoning aside? It's actually been a lot of fun. Whether he's tirelessly optimistic or not quite bright enough to be more guarded about the whole situation remains to be seen, but it's while he's passing out candy from a bowl shaped like a skull (clearly it couldn't be a real one, right) that he finds himself approached by what he, at first, assumes to be just another youngster, catching only the barest glimpse out of the corner of his eye as they reach up to tug on his jacket.]

Hey, little guy, don't worry, I've got plenty to go arou—

[He cuts himself off as he turns to see that it isn't just another underworld youngster, but someone— something?— that appears to be made up entirely of candy corn, standing at just above knee-height.

Huh.]

Well, you're a weird one, aren't you?

[The little golem cranes its neck to look up and study him for all of two seconds before it throws a feeble punch at his leg. It's barely more than a tickle, and Balthus only furrows his brow as he tries to decide how to respond, but before he has a moment to do so, his boots and pants from the knee down are now covered in sugary orange goop.]

Oh, come on, that's uncalled for! I was gonna give you candy!

[Ira had heard of a world similar to this, even if he had never visited specifically. He's a little surprised to find the changes to his appearance as well. His mask is gone, having formed into more of a cowl that covers his face. His robes have been changed as well, to more fancier dress clothing, complete with a cravat and dark, velvet cloak. Ira manages to wear the look well, he hopes. He can't exactly see himself in a mirror right now.]

A - He did the Monster Mash (Candy Corn Golems)

[It's always the smaller targets that are more annoying, Ira thinks, once again recalling his keyblade from where it had been stuck the ground by one of the Candy Corn projectiles. The substance certainly makes it hard to wrench free. But better his keyblade than another party goer, and most seem pleased to have been shielded by this helpful vampire. Ira is also getting some practice in with the dreamotion abilities, managing to redirect the projectiles with a gust of wind.

Later, though, Ira can be found searching for the source of these creatures and eventually comes across the house. He's reluctant to approach, but certainly not because it's a creepy looking house. In fact, any of those thoughts are set aside as he sees the Nightmare Chirithy waving from the porch and looking like it might just go ring the doorbell.]

B - It was a Graveyard Smash (Grave Concern)

[Graveyards are not the easiest place for Ira to be. The last place he remembers before coming here had been referred to as The Keyblade Graveyard by Luxu, and was definitely a present reminder of what had been wrought. It's something he tries to shove away, but unfortunately it remains present as he works at cleaning up the graves.

He dodges a spray of silly string set off by the Nightmare Chirithy, who is taking great delight in setting off any of the booby traps it can find. The dodge leads to him grabbing an irritated skeleton by the arm and yanking it off. He is trying to help!]

I-A. costume party

( Frisk has decided to come to the party as ghost. It isn't their first time celebrating Halloween by any means, but there still isn't much hesitation in seeing what magic might be waiting for them at this party.

Before they realize it, they're floating, feet barely touching the ground. Even with their normally neutral expression, they look rather shocked at first, mouth agape before they embrace their newfound role as the party ghost. They'll eventually do things like find themselves behind other party-goers, or move through a tree before speaking quietly with a quiet: )

Trick-or-treat.

( It's just a bit of harmless fun at a fun Halloween party, really! )

I. e. Candy Corn Golems:

( Frisk is there to help out with the golems, but unfortunately, even with all their dodging prowess, they eventually find themselves stuck in the candy goop. Their brows furrow as they use what strength they can to get out of it before it can harden, but it seems like the more they struggle, the more quickly the goop seems to harden.

They look contemplative for a moment, as if trying to figure out how to subdue the golems anger before they raise a finger – as if coming up with an idea. )

You look perfect for this Halloween party.

( When all else fails, compliment the threatening candy...? )

II. B. Nightmare Grave

( Indeed, the gravestone does seem to change according to Frisk's memories, but it's nothing that seems far too threatening. When the text changes, Frisk reads it out loud, freezing a bit upon realizing just what the words are from – their reading growing slower as they finish the sentence.

Can you show mercy without running away?

It's only then that the monsters begin to appear, however – they don't seem intimidating in the slightest. From a rather small looking frog, to a strange-looking flying creature, and even a more monstrous looking creature, Frisk seems to know what to do no matter who it is.

For anyone who stumbles into them, Frisk will quickly step in front of the person – looking to them rather seriously. )

… Be careful. The monster's magic can hurt.

( On another hand: )

If you compliment them, you don't have anything to be afraid of.

⊗ i-a: costume party
[Throughout the event Eustace will be joining the vampire club with his costume, except he doesn't seem that disturbed by it. In fact, it's designed exactly the same as what he's worn before on Halloween missions, so he's able to move around with iease. He does have sharper fangs than usual...but at least he doesn't have the need to drink blood, that's a blessing.

a. Desire to pet. However, after he inadvertently eats the candy, that kind of "desire" is instead transferred to his original love of dogs, and whenever he sees one—including werewolves or anyone with dog-like features—he has a strong urge to pet them. At the very least there will be some intense staring. So hopefully no one is too alarmed if he suddenly reaches out to pet their ears—]

...Ah, no, I didn't mean...

[Just a small slightly frustrated sigh when he catches himself in the act.

b. Vampuppy. Alternatively, if someone sees a strange black wolf pup with bat wings roaming around... Don't mind the cute floofball. Yes, that is Eustace and yes...he can kind of fly like that though not very well. He's more interested in trying to change back so he won't really be paying much attention. Though some might mistake him for a werewolf pretending to be a bat.]

⊗ i-e: candy corn golems + bonus
[a. Fighting Golems. The golems are certainly unique, but he's seen his fair share of Halloween based monsters. He's more surprised there aren't any pumpkin monsters. Just like in the last dreamscape, he finds he has his trusted weapon, but once again the gun is not operating as...expected. The moment after he lines up his shot and pulls the trigger, instead of lightning, large candy bullets fire out instead. They do explode and seem to crackle with electricity upon impact, but Eustace can only stare in some baffled wonder before clicking his tongue.]

Even after practicing...well it works.

[Maybe this dream is affecting his abilities? But as long as his weapon still operates and he can shoot effectively, he'll just work with it. It's still a learning process and might as well use this as an opportunity to continue training. So he continues to fire the strange candy bullets, the electric impact at least helping to stagger or stun the golems enough for others fighting.

b. BONUS: Finding the Source. Noticing the odd movements of the smaller golems, he'll tail after them until he reaches the house and will stop to look at it. Truly suspicious... Hearing something crinkle beneath his boot, he stos and looks down before crouching down to pick up the paper.]

...Could this have been used for a spell to create all these golems...?

[But why is it out here? He'll venture close to the house to investigate the marks.]

⊗ ii-a: wedding bonus: goblin seals
[Leaving the protection of the wedding to others, Eustace joins the group going after the source of the goblins. Seeing how they're persistent pests by popping out even as others work to destroy the seals, he jumps up to the highest perch and aims his gun.]

I'll cover and take out any goblins that appear, just focus on destroying those seals.

⊗ ii-c: interactive nightmare: a world without dogs
[While trying to help deal with the grave problem—or rather mostly dealing with the hostiles as they're more of a threat—Eustace gets caught in a trap that makes him read the cursed tombstone and sends him into a deep sleep. The tombstone now reads: Do Not Disturb: A World Without Dogs Is A Lonely World Indeed.

It's a quite simple nightmare, and fortunately not one that's...too traumatic, but it's a terrible one for Eustace all the same. A huge dog lover like himself finding himself in a world where there are no more dogs?? The agony! By how painful his facial expression is, one might think he was tossed into a truly haunting nightmare.

For those who choose to jump in, they will immediately find themselves as a dog. Big, small, old, young, whatever kind of dog. Could be random, could represent their personality or image—but they are a dog. And they are the last and only dog in this dream. The goal is to find Eustace who is searching desperately and calm him down. Of course that might be a challenge since they won't be able to talk. Beware of the cat monsters and dog catchers that lurk around that will certainly try to attack the "last dog."

Kazuma Asogi | The Great Ace Attorney | Open

[personal profile] chippedsoul 2021-10-10 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[OOC: Unless otherwise stated, he will look like a nekomata, standing probably 4-5 ft.]

[I-E: Candy Corn Golems]
[Kazuma isn't really one for festivities, preferring to investigate the mystery as to what brought them all here. Dealing with candyified golems seem to be a good place to start. Weirdly, he finds his blades useless against them. At the same time, his hits appear to be stronger in this place. Getting a kick or a punch in will easily knock down golems twice his size. Perhaps enough focused hits will break them.]

A little help! [They keep coming from somewhere though, cause no matter how many he knocks over, another will come take it place.]

[II-B: A Sticky situation]
[Anyone traversing out into the graveyard to help with the tombstone mix-up may hear someone laughing, or meowing? Upon investigating, they will find a two tailed cat, trapped in a spider's web over some tombstone's, being tormented by a bunch of skeletons by...tickling. The cat's laughter will start to sound strain, he's clearly been trapped like this for some time. No matter how much he struggles to get free, it only gets him further tangled in the spider's web.

The skeleton's chatter their teeth as they're quite literally, making Kazuma laugh to death.]

[II-C1: The Cluckening's Revenge]
[When thrust into the nightmare, the person will be met by....chickens. A whole lot of chickens of varying sizes. Some were normal size, big ones that already exist in this world, and others were as big as a single story home. They all appear to be docile, floating aimlessly in the dark abyss of this dream. YOU may have even become a chicken yourself! Touching them will turn them into some part of cooked chicken. Could just be a drumstick, or the whole chicken itself.

At the center of them all was Kazuma, now human in this dream and sitting at a table with a plate of normal size looking roast chicken.

Over the gravestone that led him to this point were the words. "Eat the chicken"]

[II-C2: Lost What Cannot Be Taken Back. TGAA2 Spoilers] CW: Blood, Death, Murder
[The dream puts people inside a traditional Japanese home that would have existed during the Meiji era. It's empty and the air felt heavy. It's hard to tell if it was dawn or dusk outside, and there was this ominous lingering mist that traveled throughout the home.

Photos of a family of three, father, mother and son are littered throughout some of the rooms. Their faces were blank, as if someone had erased them. Some of them the father or mother are crossed out, sometimes both. There are also blood stains and cuts marks that appear to be created by a blade found in all the rooms. Dose it also feel like they're walking in circles?

There's a sound of someone crying somewhere in this home maze though. A child from the sound of it.

Written on the gravestone for this nightmare was, "A Curse upon the Mass Murderer's Family"]

Ferris Eris | The Legend of the Legendary Heroes | open!!

[personal profile] dangoism 2021-10-10 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Ferris is currently dressed like this, the dango demon queen. If she's uncomfortable in the costume, she doesn't show it (though honestly she's not a huge fan). The chain dangling from her wrist is not connected to anything (or anyone. Unless..?)

[ A. Beware the food ]

[ Ferris is normally all about the food, but it's hard to give much of a care about it since arriving here. No matter how tasty it is, it's all like ash in her mouth. She's been reduced to eating out of necessity, and not out of enjoyment... this is truly the most miserable she's been in a long time.

So despite the candy smorgasbord, she'd chosen a drink instead, something she could have while thinking about the food she actually wanted.

... which she'd ended up drinking too fast...

And now she has hiccups and flame breath. Awkward. Though it definitely fits the demon queen look she's rocking.

Sorry if she singes you a little bit? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ]

[ B. Haunted Wedding ]

[ She's not dressed for a wedding, and... well, honestly, has she ever even been to a wedding? Maybe that's why she'd ended up here. Ferris has read about them, but being at one is a little different. Or a lot different, given that she'd never read about undead weddings. Or about goblins attacking in the middle. She's heard about people voicing objections to a marriage but this is...

Fortunately, she has a sword-- well, not today, but she does have this handy chain manacled to her wrist instead. It's not quite what she's used to, but it'll work.

So if you see a woman choking a goblin with a chain, that's why. ]

I thought marriage was supposed to be sacred.

[ C. Nightmare Graves ]

[ Here lies Ferris Eris, may she rest in peace. ]

Dango...

[ She murmurs in her sleep.

Alright, a bit premature to say she's dead, but no one will ever really know how Ferris fell asleep in a graveyard. Hunger feels very likely given what she's just said. On the tombstone, a message is emblazoned - You have disappointed me, my disciple.

Whatever could it mean. How mysterious.

Stepping into the, ah, dream, leads into a dango wonderland, a long hall, full of every kind of dango that has ever existed (and probably some that don't.)

Ah, and there is a giant throne at the end of said hall... and it kind of has a giant... man? sitting in it... ]

Rokurou Rangetsu | Tales of Berseria | Open

[personal profile] rokubro 2021-10-10 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rokurou is dressed as a Japanese samurai warrior, fitting given that's basically what he is. However, because of his daemon nature, he's now sporting two horns on his forehead similar to the Japanese oni. His bloodlust is already high to begin with, and after eating the candy that's just going to be driven up even higher. Fortunately he still maintains his reason so he won't pick a fight with just anyone or go on killing spree...but he may end up challenging others more than usual.]

⋚ i-b. beware the food
[Okay, okay, he's heard the food is cursed, but this is a weird, fancy dream, right? So he's actually kind of curious to see what would happen and he grins at whoever is also debating on whether to try.]

Personally I'm hoping for the slime monster. You?

⋚ i-c. jack-o-lantern...carving?
[Rokurou was always good with a knife, and he spins the pumpkin carving knife in his hand as he grins at the pumpkin before him.]

So these are to be used for skeletons or something? Then we gotta make them the the fiercest and terrifying they can be.

[And then he grabs a second carving knife and his hands are a blur as he attacks the pumpkin, bits of it flying everywhere. Surely it'll be a masterpiece...!

Except he might have gotten a little too zealous and ended up chopping the poor gourd up.]

...Whoops, got a little too excited there, haha. Guess these can't be used for anything, huh?

[Given that it was just the outer shell...no, probably not.]

⋚ i-e. candy corn golems
[Anyone who knows the daemon will not be surprised to find him in the thick of battling those candy corn golems, his blades cutting through parts of their limbs and sending the larger bits flying.]

C'mon, is that the best you got!? I'm only getting started!

[...He...might getting a little too enthused in his fighting, moving one to the other as he continues to cut and slash with increasing reckless abandon. There might even come a point that he doesn't even notice who else is there, so watch out for that long sword!]

⋚ ii-a. wedding goblins
[While others set off to figure out where the goblins are coming from, Rokurou will stay behind to help deal with the ones that are still present. Hopefully his bloodlust from earlier has calmed down...]

Hah, too easy!

[...or not. He quickly cuts through a goblin and sends its remains out the window, not caring he's making a mess. In the lull, he looks around with idle curiosity.]

I know normally people wouldn't want monsters attacking their wedding, but isn't it kind of fitting for this place? I know I'd appreciate it if it happened to me, haha!

[....He would............]

⋚ wildcard
[I had more ideas but decided to limit it to this stupid fight crazy daemon. Although not a specific prompt, Rokurou just randomly attacking anyone who looks like they would be a strong opponent, especially other sword users, is possible! Someone needs to put a damn leash on him— Anyway, feel free to hit me up on his plotting comment, PM, discord, or [plurk.com profile] laenavesse.]

• i-a. costume party + bonus
[a. Frog Prince. Alvin will be looking a bit "ghastly" as an undead prince. He's a little wary about it because of what he had back in the Realm of Stories, but he's just going to hope for the best. Unfortunately, he can turn into a frog, and when he does he can actually dish out a few curses on people. But before that, he's going to have other problems to deal with first. Occasionally some of those little gremlins are trying to catch him so he can be used in one of their curses! Or meals, he's not sure which—]

Help!! Keep those kids away from me I'M NOT SOME DAMN INGREDIENT!!

[So that is definitely one frog with a weird little crown on its head hopping here and there and everywhere. Why is this deja vu—

b. BONUS: Magic Threads. Hearing about the threads, Alvin can't help be curious as he also remembers the job on the Dream Board. He doubts the same creatures are in Songerein proper, but maybe this could help familiarize with whatever could be similar out there.

...Although he'd rather not have to deal with the bugs personally...

He's going to pass on the ghoulworms and instead try his charm on the spiders. Yeah this'll look weird.]

Now aren't you a fine little spider. With all that thread you made, you definitely had to work hard for it. How about we do a little trade—got this extra candy here that should suit your tastes.

[Yeah this looks very weird, but Alvin is kind of getting into it and the spider is at least looking at the candy. But will it be successful???]

• i-d. trick-or-treat
[He is so getting back at those twerps for earlier, so while handing out candy he's fully prepared to dish out a few "tricks." Nothing too grand, but with a bit of dreamotion energy he'll heat up some of the chocolate so that it'll melt upon opening, add a lot of pepper to spice up some candy, or even freeze those jawbreakers to make them even more formidable. His favorite? Burst of glitter when opening a candy wrapper. Yeah, he's going to love using that even if he'll hate it when it's done to him.

After watching a group of kids scream from his silly pranks, he chuckles to himself.]

Man, that's never gonna get old. Wonder if I should take it up a notch.

• ii-b. grave situation
[Taking a break from the festivities, Alvin heads out to the graveyard and learns about the situation. With a grin he finds a partner in crime to work with.]

Best way to go about this is catch the little perps in the act. So I say... [He takes one of the disengaged glitter paint bombs and grins.] We should beat them at their own game. Come on, let's set up one of these graves so they take the hit instead.

[Of course, this may or may not go as planned, but it'll be fun to try at least. Just hope they don't accidentally prank the actual owner of the grave they're using.]

• wildcard
[Other prompts are also doable! Alvin is just going to be having a t i m e. Feel free to hit me up on my plotting comment, PM, discord, or [plurk.com profile] laenavesse]
lethechained: (Feeling kind of witchy today)

Naminé | Kingdom Hearts | OTA

[personal profile] lethechained 2021-10-11 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I . HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL

A. Costume Party

[ At first, Naminé feels some small amount of trepidation at the idea of walking around in the outfit this dreamworld seems to have foisted upon her. It’s awfully hard to mistake the gigantic pointy hat, after all, for anything other than a witch’s, if the stereotypes are to be believed. But entering the milling crowd proves quickly enough that she isn’t the only one so attired, and although she experiences some small twist of guilt about the matter, she realizes quickly it’ll be easy to pass herself off as no more suited to the role she’s been given than she ought to be.

So she’s mostly just been trying to lie low until this very moment, when some children tugging at her skirts and ribbons insist that she bow down to hear their whispered, giggling requests, including some pointing at the nearest unfortunate bystander with no thought given to whether or not it might be obvious to the poor victim-to-be. ]

You want me to what?

[ Naminé has the sense to be quiet about it, but she’s still audible just before she raises her head to consider the person in question from under the wide brim of her hat. The girl herself is attired in uncharacteristically dark colors – mostly black – and a medium length dress that’s as Victorian as it is lacey, a delicate, perky a-line with long and sweeping sleeves. It’s very nearly the opposite of her usual attire, and so is the deep color of the lipstick she definitely doesn’t recall applying. Her skin is paler than usual, her hair in similar, silvery mien, but her eyes are twice as intense a blue as they were before; they glow, in fact, in a way that might give one cause to wonder if she’s a member of the undead in her current form.

She looks pretty reluctant about whatever the kids are trying to convince her to do, but one might find her lengthy stare concerning just the same. ]

C. Jack-o-Lanterns

[ There might be something macabre about disemboweling pumpkins in full view of their semi-living brethren. Naminé does feel a little weird about it, having spent a brief time as a pumpkin herself last month, but artistic expression is artistic expression and she’s been working on carefully figuring out the technique for carving her own small gourd for a while, now.

And just because some flaming pumpkin heads with cackling faces decide to descend upon the festivities doesn’t mean she’s going to give up on all of her efforts; when she turns to flee from the flying entities, it’s with her half-carved pumpkin clutched awkwardly in both arms, slippery portions of the innards leaving a bit of a messy trail in her wake.

Well, she’ll just have to hope nobody trips on it – or trips her, for that matter, since she’s a little more than preoccupied dodging flaming divebombs. ]

E. Candy Corn Golems

[ For someone who tries to stay out of trouble, Naminé seems to have a knack for getting herself into the thick of it. Avoiding the smaller golems is a matter of persistence (and more exercise than she’s used to getting), but there’s really nothing she can do about it when their monstrous cousin decides to launch missiles, of all things. Ducking under an overhanging roof only does so much to protect her as the explosion happens and the hard gunk that she hopes is some form of candy forms a hole-ridden cage around her small corner of shelter.

The creature seems more interested in harassing others now that she’s captured, but with it still so near at hand and she unable to force her way out of the trap, Naminé resorts to waving one hand out through one of the holes as broadly as she dares, hoping to avoid any unwelcome developments like finding out she’ll stick to the ‘bars’ of her prison if she touches them. ]

Hey…! Can anyone hear me--?

[ Princess in a tower she might not technically be, but a knight in shining armor would come in handy right about now. ]

II. GRAVE WEDDING

A. Haunted Wedding

[ A celebration as romantic in nature as a wedding feels somehow forbidden when one is so far removed from that part of life. Or, rather, that’s the sense that Naminé gets about it – that it’s a moment someone like her oughtn’t be looking in on. But these days, now that the future seems brighter for her, she feels slightly less reluctant to indulge her curiosity, and so she can be found peering carefully in through one of the broken windows of the chapel, hands settled on the sill. She’s quite engrossed, despite having chosen to remain outside.

And later, when the goblins make their appearance, Naminé can’t help but be affronted by the interruption on behalf of the people who actually belong at the event. Enough so, in fact, that rather than excusing herself from the mayhem, she steps right into it, newly-learned hexes quick to bend to her will as the costume’s magic supplies her with the means to supplement her own natural abilities.

She does her best not to cause anyone else any trouble – might even save a few of her fellows from getting overwhelmed, if they’re being attacked – but there could nevertheless be an errant spell that misses its target now and again.

Hopefully anyone she accidentally manages to turn into a toad will have the good sense to hop away from the fighting… ]

C. Nightmare Graves [ CW: Violence, monsters, potentially blood and/or fire ]

[ The only real sign that anything's amiss with the girl's sleeping form is perhaps that she didn't bother to take her hat off before collapsing. At its skewed angle it rests partially over her face, her body curled into a tight ball on one side, fists clenched.

The gravestone reads, ‘You never left.’ Cryptic as that might be, the image on it could be even stranger, for those who know what this situation signifies; a peaceful cabin in the woods hardly seems like the stuff of nightmares.

But there’s definitely a sense of foreboding within the dream. Upon stepping into it, one might find oneself in a doorway, looking through a kitchen into the living room of the same cabin. The air is nearly still, floating motes of dust drifting lazily in the warm daylight streaming through the windows. The place aged and quiet, and there’s almost no sound to be heard, except—

Is something breathing in the rafters?

Should one linger too long, a small hand might close around their arm from behind them. If they look back, they’ll find that on the other side of the doorway they’re in is a staircase leading down into what seems to be a basement. In the semi-dark of the passageway, Naminé looks up at them from a stair or two down, every line of her body tense with fear.

Raising a finger to her lips, she makes a gesture for silence. ]

A. Costume Party

[ It was strange and oddly gratifying when he discovered himself dressed as a black cat of some kind. He had not been old enough to assume the Black Panther mantle before he'd left Earth, but he had time to design and plan his suit as a child before he'd been whisked away to space. And while he'd known that he would not be continuing that legacy himself when he returned - that decision, at least, had been easy to make - he supposed there was no harm in dressing the part for one night.

The suit itself was fairly similar to memories of what he'd seen of his father as Black Panther, including the set of claws. The only thing different was the lack of a mask, replaced instead with a headband decorated with black cat ears, and a tail coming from the belt of the suit.

It should also probably surprise him that the tail seems to move in reaction to his thoughts, but honestly things are becoming less strange during his time here. ]

B. Jack-o-Lanterns

[ The cat claws, he's discovered, are actually real - rather than fake claws as he had initially assumed - and are quite sharp. And that seemed to work well for pumpkin carving, the claws easily cutting into the gourd to design a face on it.

Currently he is sitting on a bale of hay with a pumpkin in his lap, next to a headless skeleton who seemed to be waiting for him to finish. After removing a piece from the pumpkin and setting it aside, he holds up the pumpkin to inspect his work. ]

That should do it. What do you think?

[ Of course, the skeleton shrugs. It can't see anything yet. ]

C. Candy Corn Golems

[ Many of the candy corn golems are easy enough to take care of. There are quite enormous ones, which do take a little more work, but they are dealt with throughout the night.

But as more form and cause trouble, he can feel the residents' suspicion growing. And until they can figure out who or what is creating them, the golems will continue to appear.

So he lets some of the smaller ones escape. And, he supposes thanks to his cat costume, he's able to sneak after them, looking to see where they might go. ]

D. Grave Situation

[ As he knows it to happen sometimes, a Halloween prank has gotten a bit out of hand, as graves and coffins have been moved and shuffled around. They are asked to help set things to rights, which he doesn't really mind, except some of the skeletons don't seem particularly grateful to be moved.

He dodges a couple of skeletons that lunge at him, jumping back and out of the way. ]

Please, we are trying to help you!

I. Halloween Festival

A little different, but the same somehow. The only thing concerning was being pulled into the Dreamscape without much warning or choice. Still, whatever, they could deal with it, right? And it was just blending into a party which it looked like his costume was provided... although...

Looking over himself, it looked like at most his clothes had been replaced with something more weathered and worn, with tears at the hems and at certain seams like they'd been ripped through from the inside. He saw his clawed hands, the usual fur from transforming sprouting up his arms and noticed the same on his legs. His tail fur was wild, his hair was longer, but not as long again if this was complete. Even a light gnaw on his lips said his teeth had only grown maybe another millimeter or so. Well, he blended in at least; even his fur had been muted.

Everything would be okay then.

A. Jack-o-Lanterns

"Almost... allllmmooooost... done!"

Lifting the newly carved pumpkin, he placed it on the skeleton's body with a grin. He was keeping the designs simple in order to match the other decorations abound. So, triangular eyes, sharp teeth stretched into a wide grin, his tail holds up a mirror for the skeleton to see. Meanwhile, behind him, a few vampires passing by don't reflect at all.

Zidane gets a thumbs up and he gives one back, letting the skeleton leave.

"Alright! Who's next for a head?"

B. Trick-or-Treat

Apparently, Zidane's not old enough to hand out candy?? He doesn't understand; how old was considered 'adult' here? Well, fine then, he'll just be found roaming around with a gaggle of kids, helping them trick-or-treat instead.

And, oh boy, the tricks if people were withholding the sweets.

Though, if one more kid wanted to join along, they were welcomed with open arms and their own little starter bag with candy from Zidane's stash.

II. Grave Wedding

A. Haunted Wedding

Not a bad place for a haunted wedding venue, but it looks like even during a horrifically spooktacular spectacle, wedding crashers were still a thing. And from the way the bride and groom react to the goblins, they're not on the list of invites. Zidane doesn't mean to crash himself, but they did ask for help, and he had the strength and ability to do so just managing to keep again his outsider status on the down-low.

When things seem to be endless, the gravekeeper caught his attention... and Zidane - in turn - tried to get another.

"Hey, this way!"

B. Grave Situation

There were probably already a few people that wouldn't expect Zidane to be toiling around a graveyard and cleaning up after some pranks instead of causing them, but he was. Walking around, unbothered by the undead folk spitting a fit or trying to get their grave cleaned up first. It took some assurance and patience, but tombstones, markers, and even coffins were slowly being moved around and set back in their proper resting sites, settling down with a little extra touch-up to their grave.

Had he set off a few traps? Uh... maybe...

Webbing under foot, 'blood' dried on his already ruined clothes, he kept working.

C. Nightmare Graves

All that work could've caught up to Zidane finally. It wasn't easy moving around tombstones or coffins, and dealing with hexed people wasn't a walk in the park either. So sleeping curled up before a tombstone wouldn't seem like a big deal.

"Do Not Disturb" so kindly being there alongside things like "Eternal Soul's Repose", "Crystal", "Angel", and "Death".

Zidane grimaced slightly and from the right angle, the polished surface of the tombstone reflected a bright red moon.

[Well, this world is rude. Hans actually finds himself to be in a rather sour mood, because he's now dressed in this outfit, complete with red horns and a long red tail swinging from behind. He's fortunately spared from red skin, but his eyes are now a sharp yellow hue, with his tongue longer and more serpent like. So yes, this place is exceedingly rude, but as always, he'll adapt.]

costume party;
[Maybe he can actually blame his appearance on these sudden urges he has (and eating some of that candy earlier probably didn't help), but he wants to cause some trouble for people. Maybe not full on murder, but he's feeling particularly petty right now. Thoughts of his failed plan back home doesn't help with his mood either.

So, anyone walking by him might suddenly feel a tail wrapping around their leg, then being yanked back without much prior warning. Falling over is definitely possible, but even if you manage to keep upright, a worried voice will speak up.]

I'm so sorry, are you okay? I've... been having some trouble adjusting to some of these extra limbs here.

beware the food
[This was bound to happen at some point. Try some of the strange food in a strange world and food poisoning is going to happen. It's a lesson that Hans has learned, but maybe he'll fully accept it when he doesn't feel like he's going to pass out or die in the next thirty minutes. There's probably a way to fix this, maybe he should drink some water, but lying down on the ground and lamenting his fate sounds like a far better idea.

Hopefully no one steps on him, although, Hans is just sort of lying around without doing anything but groaning every so often.]

haunted wedding;
[Why not attend a wedding? He was almost wed himself just a few days ago back home! And maybe he had a thought or two about ruining this wedding, but it looks like a few pesky monsters go to it first. Such is life, but that's fine. Slashing those goblins with his sword is also a good way to release some of his recent frustration, so why not. Only problem is that they don't stop appearing and this can't simply continue on.

He actually wants to get his solved.

Anyone that's fighting near him will have Hans suddenly call out, his voice carrying a more serious tone.]

Rosalia Rossellini | Trauma Team CRAU

[personal profile] bloodinbloom 2021-10-12 12:20 am (UTC)(link)

I. Halloween Festival

This wasn't how she wanted to go into her first dreamscape, but it only took a moment for her fear to be placated by a familiar rub against her face. It's supposed to be a costume, but Rosalia is absolutely thrilled about having it - the multiple moving white snakes with their beady red eyes that have replaced her hair, and the scales now covering her skin. Weird that she still has her legs, but it's okay!

Looking and petting them each, she makes sure that her ribbons were tied still comfortably around the one slumbering snake she has before she heads off to have fun!

A. Costume Party

Normally, Rosalia would be a little more cautious about scaring people, but during Halloween, it looked like everyone was scaring each other and having a laugh. She doesn't really know how the actual Medusa would act, but getting her snakes to rise up and hiss at people that want to be spooked, she can do.

And if you're at the party too, she might accidentally assume you wanted to be spooked to.

"Boo!"

And most of her snakes join in.

B. Beware the Food

Oh no, this wasn't fun! This wasn't fun at all!

It was almost like the tea from their arrival party, but people weren't just being shrunk down into mice.

Good thing a Witch's Brew should cure it, but there were items that needed to be obtained for it. Okay, she could do that! Oh, but she needed chocolate coins? It looked like those kids trick-or-treating were getting a few. Hopefully, she might be able to too, but would it be rude to ask for them specifically? But, for the sake of others, she had to try.

"Trick or treat!"

C. Candy Corn Golems

Rosalia walked by with one following her... then came back with two... three... was walking faster at the fourth and fifth little golem started to follow her, agitating her snakes. She doesn't know what they're doing, but she doesn't think she did anything either. It's when she bumped into the large one that towered over her did things... freeze.

And not frost freeze either.

She hurried away with six candy statues left behind, trying to blend into the crowd. It wasn't too suspicious, right? Or maybe it was since a local seemed to have stopped her.

Interfering might be a good idea.

II. Grave Wedding

A. Haunted Wedding

It's very simple: Rosalia was asked to help so she came to help.

And tried.

And was only holding up against the goblins so well. Turning them into stone, casting barriers to temporarily protect others, they're a little harder to maintain while she's scared, but she's trying. If she could calm down, maybe she could transform or summon back up, but for now, she could just cover the person closest to her while hiding.

B. Grave Situation

"Whew! This is really heavy!"

Not even in a dream was Rosalia strong enough to lift the tombstone that's been toppled over, but she's trying. She had to get it upright in order to finish cleaning up the grave, but it's a very thick slab of stone. Trying from the sides, seeing about pushing it up from the top, she doesn't even get it off the ground before having to sit down herself.

Another hand or two - or someone with the right dreamotion magic - would be great about now.
